Abstract:Objective To determine the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2)in the tissue of basal cell carcinoma(BCC).Methods Tissue specimens were collected from 7 patients with BCC and healthy human controls,mRNA was extracted from the specimens.RT-PCR assay was employed to determine the mRNA expression of VEGFR-2,immunofluorescence and Western blotting methods to detect the distribution and protein expression of VEGFR-2 respectively in the tissue specimens.Results Both the mRNA and protein expressions of VEGFR-2 were observed and significantly higher in the tissue specimens of BCC than those in the normal controls(1.171±0.165 vs 0.489±0.143, 0.341±0.022 vs 0.258±0.020).The VEGFR-2 protein was mainly located in the membrane of BCC cells. Conclusions The expression of VEGFR-2 is abnormally high in BCC tissues,which may contribute to the proliferation of BCC cells.
