Abstract:"Genetics" is one of the main courses for the study scheme of undergraduate students in university. This paper pointed out some problems found in the teaching process according to the characteristics of "Genetics" course. At the same time, the thought on the construction of "Genetics" course were discussed concerning the reform of course contents, the improvement of teaching method, the creation of teaching CAI (computer assisted instruction), the compile of electronic edition for teaching materials, the evaluation of teaching level, the innovation of experimental contents and the methods for improving the teaching effect.

Abstract:Advanced teaching facilities and the policy of opening laboratories to students play an important role in raising the quality in the experimental teaching of Genetics. This article introduces the superiority of some advanced instruments and equipment (such as digital microscope mutual laboratory system, flow cytometry, and NIRSystems) in the experimental teaching of genetics, and illustrates with examples the significance of exposing students to experiments in developing their creative consciousness and creative ability. This article also offers some new concepts on the further improvement upon teaching in the laboratory.

Abstract:This article, which is based on the requirements for developing the course of Genetics as an outstanding course, summarizes the experience of engendering an excellent instructional system, expatiates on the effects of its application to the teaching process of "Genetics" and next step work for continuing this instructional system. The course quality of "Genetics" has been improved under the excellent instructional system by including different teaching methods, renovating the teaching contents, innovating the teaching means, developing a practical courseware, writing extractive textbooks, reforming experimental teaching, and constructing an instructional network, together with teaching methods related to scientific research.

Abstract:Animal Genetics is a subject which needs theory and operation.In the process of teaching this subject,problems emerged.As for teaching mode,teachers still dominate the class and they teach according to textbooks.For students,they lack recognition,their knowledge system is imperfect;their initiative,enthusiasm,and operating ability all need improving.Thus,in this paper,the scientific research teaching method was put forward from the aspects of improving teaching contents,integrating research achievements and discussion into classroom.The teaching results prove that the scientific research teaching method can effectively solve the problems that students do not fully understand genetic mechanism theories,cannot apply theory into practice,which has a positive significance on improving teaching quality.

Abstract:The technology of life science grows rapidly in the 21st century,and the genetic engineering,however,leads the trend of life science as a very fundamental and important discipline.In the last several decades,this subject has increasingly expanded its research interest into medicine,farming,forestry,fishery as well as animal husbandry.Traditional Chinese Medicine holds the great medicinal resources and greatly contributes to Chinese culture.Currently,the modernization and standardization of TCM has become one of curprimarily objectives to rejuvenate our country through science and education,and to improve the health of human beings.How to better introduce the course of genetic engineering to students majoring in TCM has been developed into a meaningful,but also challenging task for teachers.With years of teaching experience in this course,the author described in this study a variety of strategies that he has developed to improve the quality of teaching,such as performing in-depth analysis of the thinking habit of students,enriching the teaching materials,stimulating the learning interest,invigorating the class atmosphere,promoting the interaction between students and teacher,and changing the evaluation standard.As a result,these strategies have been proven to be effective in the teaching.Finally,the author proposed that in order to better improve the teaching quality of genetic engineering,the teacher has to try his best to fit this course within the acceptable capability for students majoring in TCM

Abstract:With the rapid development of molecular biology, especially the emergence of next generation sequence(NGS), the importance of bioinformatics in the field of life science is becoming increasingly apparent. The Introduction of Bioinformatics was set up from 2012 in agriculture specialty in Huazhong Agricultural University. Combined with more than three years of teaching practice, the characteristics of the course con-struction and practice were explored from aspects of establishment and perfection of the curriculum content system, construction of the integrated network teaching platform, implementation of the four stage learning method, reform of the evaluation system, the existing problems were ana-lyzed and reform ideas were proposed. The aim was to improve students’ learning enthusiasm, perfect teaching method, thus to improve teaching level and enhance students’ comprehensive ability.

Abstract:Because of the difference in aims of training between college and university,the current genetics teaching situation and related issues for full-time top up students of agronomy major were discussed. Some approaches of teaching were provided and suggestions of optimizing teaching content,reinforcing teaching experiment were proposed. Those will help students more deeply learn genetics knowledge and improve the ability of application for genetic theory and adopt to the demand of modern undergraduate teaching.
