A Study about Primary and Middle School Teachers' Teaching Efficacy and Self-reflection

Abstract:Self-reflection is very important for promoting the new teachers′ teaching efficacy.The results of the investigation of 245 new teachers with 0~5 years′ experience in primary and middle schools shows the positive correlation between teaching efficacy and self-reflection as a whole,and the positive correlation between individual teaching efficacy and general teaching efficacy,and also the significant positive correlation among each four dimensions of the self-reflection.There are significant variations between different teaching seniority of teaching efficacy for new teachers.Teaching efficacy and self-reflection present a tendency of continual enhancement along the teaching seniority,and present a tendency of fast growing within 4~5 years′ teaching experience as well.It shows that the fourth to the fifth year of teaching is the critical stage for new teachers′ professional development.
