Abstract:The selectivity of Maruca testulalis Geyer for three host plants and the resistance of thirty different cowpea varieties to M.testulalis were studied.The results showed that M.testulalis had non-preference to bean but preference to cowpea and hyacinth bean.There were significant differences in larvae quantities in bean pods between hyacinth bean and cowpea.The resistance of different cowpea varieties to M.testulalis was also different.Gaochan 4 among others was more susceptible,but Yunyouyouqing,Huifeng8 and Bayuedongqiu had a higher insect-resistance than other varieties,and were distinctly different from the other varieties.
