Abstract:A double-stage coupled heat pump (DSCHP) system, which is coupled an air-to-water heat pump and a water-to-water heat pump is firstly presented in this paper based on analyzing the characteristics of the villa district heating. This is followed by the prediction and analysis of its feasibility when operating in cold areas. Then a mathematical mode of such system is developed by using the lumped parameter method, and the volume of the heat storage tank is decided to get maximal heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF) during the heating period. Furthermore, the operation performance of the double-stage coupled heat pump system used in Beijing is analyzed. Results show that the novel heat pump system can be used for space heating for villa in cold areas and such system provides a kind of energy-saving and environmental protection heating style for cold regions.

Abstract:Numerous studies about the ground source heat pump building heating and cooling systems have been constructed in office building, hotel, residential building and school et al. However, few researches about the constant temperature and humidity air-conditioning system driven by ground-coupled heat pumps were carried out. In this paper, a constant temperature and humidity air-conditioning system driven by ground source heat pump was designed and constructed in an archives building in Shanghai, China. During the operation in the cooling mode, the heat extraction from the condenser of the heat pump was divided: part was rejected to the soil while another was used to reheat the air in AHUs. According to the experimental results, the indoor temperature and relative humidity fulfilled the “Archives Design Code”. In summer, the heat rejected to the soil was reduced by 32%, which was helpful for the earth energy conservation. The soil temperature increased only 0.5 °C after the GSHP system operating for a year. The energy cost of the air-conditioning system was 56.1 kWh/m2. Compared with air source heat pump system and water cooled unit with boiler system, the operating cost of ground source heat pump was reduced by 55.8% and 48.4%, respectively.

Abstract:In order to reduce the building energy consumption and the contaminant let out,many kinds of nature energy such as solar energy and ground heat are applied in a single villa.The paper sets up a mathematic model of dynamic performance of the double heat source system of solar-ground source heat pump(S-GHP) for the whole year,and ascertains the matching area and heat contribution of the solar collector and underground coil.The simulation results of the sample can be provided as reference data for actual engineering.

Abstract:After introducing the application status and problems of geothermal air conditioning system in China, a new kind of ground source air-conditioning system (EBCS) is put forward. The system consists of distributed air-conditioners combining heat pipe and vapor compression, fresh air handling unit with large enthalpy difference and ground source water loop. Geothermal energy is transported to the combined air-conditioners for heating and cooling by water loop. The combined air-conditioner can be operated at heat pump condition or heat pipe condition for air conditioning. In winter and transition season, the cooling energy in ground can be directly used for the cooling in inner zone by heat pipe mode, while the recovered heat is used for heating in peripheral zone. To analyze the performance of proposed system, a commercial building in north China has been taken as the research object, and the annual energy use is simulated. It is shown that the new system can save 21.7% energy compared to the traditional ground source heat pump system, and may be a potential air conditioning system for commercial buildings in north China.

Abstract:Ground coupled heat pump system has been widely used for its great potential of energy conservation and environmental protection, and it can provide heating in winter and cooling in summer. In order to study the feasibility of the application of ground coupled heat pump in cold climate, an economical analysis is made on four kinds of heating and cooling supply system for villa, including ground coupled heat pump system, coal-fired boiler and split air conditioner, natural gas boiler and split air conditioner, household wall-mounted gas boiler and split air conditioner. The initial investment, operating energy consumption and annual cost of the four systems were studied, and the influence factors of annual cost of each proposal were analyzed. The results showed that effect of energy conservation of ground coupled heat pump system was obvious, while its initial investment was biggest which mainly due to the high drilling cost. The proposal of coal-fired boiler and split air conditioner still had economical advantage and its annual cost was lowest. The energy price plays an important role in the selection of heating supply and air conditioning system. In the current energy price environment, the ground coupled heat pump system is not economical in cold climate. it is urgent to develop low cost drilling method for the promotion of ground coupled heat pump.

Abstract:The ground source heat pump (GSHP) system installed in Shanghai Minhang district archives, consisted of two water-to-water heat pumps, 280 boreholes with 80 m depth is the first archives project installing the GSHP system in China. Because of the specialization of the archives which demands a steady temperature and humidity, the system has to run all the years. The experimental study in winter shows that the COP of the heat pump is 5.2 and the average temperature and relative humidity of the archives house are 22.8 degrees C and 52.5%, respectively.

Abstract:The conventional heating mode is a one-way circulation in cold areas, which causes abatement in the reserves of energy source and increases environmental pollution. An ecological cycle heating system, an air-to-water + apartment water-to-water double-stage coupled heat pump system, is presented in this paper based on analyzing the characteristics of the villa district heating. Prediction and analysis of the feasibility of the double-stage coupled heat pump system in cold areas were carried after the components and characteristics of the system are introduced. The lumped parameter method was used to establish a mathematical model of the whole system, and the system control methods and the volume of the heat storage tank were decided to get the best value of the heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF). Furthermore, the application of the double-stage coupled heat pump system in some representative cities of cold areas in China was analyzed. The results show that the novel heat pump system can be used for heating the villa district in cold areas. To make the HSPF of the system much better, the water circulations of the double-stage coupled heat pump system also were analyzed in this paper; some improvements are put forward, and single-double stages mixed heat pumps system for the villa districts

Abstract:A ground source heat pump (GSHP) system was designed and constructed in Minhang archives of Shanghai. As a demonstration project, it is the first archives to use a GSHP system in China. The system consists of two heat pumps with the rated cooling capacity of 500kW for each and 280 boreholes with 80m in depth. In the cooling mode, the heat extraction from the condenser of the heat pump was divided: part of it was rejected to the soil while the rest was used to reheat the air in air handling units. The GSHP system has continuously run for nearly two years. It was shown that the indoor thermal environment met the “Archives Design Code” issued by China national archives. Compared with an air source heat pump system which is widely used in archives buildings, the operating cost of the GSHP system is reduced by 55.8% and the payback time is about two years. Owing to its great potential in energy conservation, such kind of GSHP system is testified to be applicable to the air-conditioning systems of the archives buildings. Besides, the applications of GSHP systems corresponding to different climatic zones of China were analyzed.

Abstract:Since air resource heat pump unit has so many advantages including no special cold and heat sources room, no cooling water system, reliable operation and little pollution, it is very suitable for countries lackage of water. Based on an actual project, this paper provides a technical and economic analysis on different cold and heat sources. The study shows that for most areas air resource heat pump unit is applicable to air conditioning system for both new buildings and rebuilt buildings, and it is a best choice.

Abstract:A minitype ground source heat pump (GSHP) system was designed and installed in the green energy building of Shanghai Jiao Tong University for the purpose of satisfying the thermal environment of a meeting room with the covered area of 180 m(2). The rated cooling capacity of the heat pump is 223 kW with the electricity consumption of 5.3 kW. Correspondingly, the rated heating capacity and electricity consumption in heating mode is 29.5 kW and 6.9 kW, respectively. The ground heat exchanger consists of 9 yertical boreholes. There is a single U-tube with the diameter of 32 mm in each borehole. The whole length of the U-tube is 580 m. The experimental investigation was carried out in both cooling mode and heating mode. After one year, the average temperature of soil was about 18 degrees C, which is nearly the same as the original soil temperature. The experimental results are instructive to the design and operation of GSHP systems in Shanghai and other cities with similar climatic feature. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Because of the importance of protecting the collections stored in archives the building environment of archives should be kept at constant temperature and humidity year-round which will consume a lot of energy.The use of ground source heat pump with the ground as the source of the cooling and heating is the efficient means to save energy.It can meet the requirement of being an energy-saving type archive.In view of the unbalance of load in summer and winter in Shanghai,heat recovery technology has been applied to solve the problem.The result of simulation analysis shows that it should reasonably increase the depth of the location of buried pipes if possible,and the heat recovery technology can alleviate the heat accumulated in ground without influencing the operating performance of the heat pump.

Abstract:Abstract In recent years, with the vigorous implementation of the national measures to promote green building energy conservation, a series of regulations and norms concerning building energy conservation policies have been published. Solar energy, heat pump and other clean energy has also been widely used. According to summarize the influencing factors of the operation of the ground source heat pump system, the evaluation method of comprehensive benefit of the ground source heat pump system is proposed, and the evaluation system of various types of heat pump system is integrated through using the unified dimension. Analytic hierarchy process is used to study the evaluation method of the ground source heat pump. A scientific, rational and practical comprehensive benefit evaluation system of ground source heat pump is constructed. At the same time, the evaluation standard of 15 evaluation indexes and the grading standard of comprehensive benefit evaluation are established. The typical soil source heat pump project is selected for the evaluation and its comprehensive evaluation benefit grade is two-level. Based on the evaluation results, we can effectively analyze the areas that need to be optimized and improved, so as to improve the comprehensive benefit.

Abstract:A constant temperature and humidity air-conditioning system driven by ground source heat pumps was designed and constructed in an archives building in Shanghai, China. The system consists of two water-to-water heat pumps and 280 boreholes with 80m in depth. In order to keep the temperature and humidity constant, the operation mode that one heat pump ran in heating mode and the other one ran in cooling mode was deployed. According to the experimental results under typical winter weather condition of Shanghai, the average COP of the heat pump in heating mode was 5.2. The average temperature and relative humidity of the archives house were 22.8°C and 52.5%, respectively. It was found that the operation mode we deployed could reduce the heat absorbed from the soil by 20%. Theoretical analysis showed that it was helpful for the earth energy conservation with one heat pump operated in cooling mode in winter. It was also shown that the decrease range of temperature of the soil in the middle of two boreholes would reduce with the increase of the distance between two boreholes. The distance between two boreholes is suggested to be 4–5m in Shanghai.

Abstract:In this paper, three typical ground source heat pump (GSHP) projects applied to residential buildings in cold area in China are investigated. According to the on-site tested data, such as temperatures and flow rates of the circulating water on the user side and ground side and the power consumption, the operating performance of the whole system is evaluated. The results of the on-site test show that some equipment capacity of the residential GSHP systems investigated in this study was inappropriate in the actual operation conditions. The main problem of the systems is the improper design with “large flow rate and small temperature difference.” In general, the investigated systems are in an operation mode with high energy consumption, which means they have great energy-saving potential. In addition, compared with the systems applied to pure residential buildings, those employed in mixed residential and commercial buildings can efficiently reduce the thermal imbalance of the underground. Finally, some possible energy-saving retrofit measures have been suggested according to the results.

Research on the Operating Characteristics of Floor Heating System with Residential EVI Air Source Heat Pump in China.

Abstract:Air source heat pump is considered a commendatory way to help solve the environmental problems resulting from coal-fired heating, especially in the cold region of China. The heat pump uses air as low-grade heat source, so the atmospherical temperature plays a key role in the operating performance of units. And the technology of economized vapor injection (EVI) is used to improve the performance in the low temperature condition. Beijing is one of the most typical cities in China cold region. Therefore, this paper took a residence in Beijing as the test site. A long-term and high-frequency monitoring was performed to investigate the operating characteristics and heating effect of floor heating system with EVI air source heat pump, and the economy was also analyzed. Equivalent carbon dioxide emission was also calculated to evaluate the carbon dioxide emission of such a heating system from cradle to grave. The results showed that the heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF) of the heating system in Beijing was 3.28, and the running condition was stable on the premise of satisfying the heating need of uses. Attentions were also paid to the behavior of residents. The irregularity revealed the apparent need and the energy saving awareness, which directly affected the power consumption.

Abstract:The ground-source heat pump with a floor radiation air-conditioning system has been widely used in the country. Various analyses indicate that compound air conditioning is more green energy-efficient than electrical air conditioning. This study analyzes the compound air conditioning system with respect to its running condition and key energy-saving technologies on the basis of the indoor comfort and energy consumption, respectively, of a demonstration office building. Potential uses of the compound air-conditioning system are also examined. The study confirms that the ground-source heat pump with a floor radiation air-conditioning system is relatively energy-saving. This study can be used as a reference to promote the application of this system in other fields. A number of experimental tests and an accurate simulation are conducted to develop a reliable operating plan and verify the individual parameter settings.

Abstract:To conserve energy, ground source heat pump (GSHP) system has been used worldwide for cooling and heating buildings, and there is a persistent concern in the performance of the system. In this study, the performances of five residential GSHP systems in Hot Summer and Cold Winter (HSCW) area in China were examined. Data were acquired through field testing, operation record and long-term monitoring. And outdoor climate parameters, water temperature characteristics, cooling load characteristics, system efficiencies and energy consumptions, heat extraction and rejection imbalance were analyzed. Field test data were used to analyze the dynamic cooling load characteristics and the energy efficiency of the heat pump units and systems. Energy consumption was statistically analyzed. The results show that the weighted average Coefficient of Performance (COP) of the heat pumps and system Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) varied from 3.36 to 5.94 and 1.95 to 4.35, respectively. Positive correlation of high cooling load and high COP was presented. More heat extraction than rejection was found, which was relevant to domestic hot water supply. Furthermore, long-term distributions of ground side water outlet temperature were used, and the skewness and kurtosis were introduced into the quantization evaluation method.
