Abstract:The paper proposes a design scheme of integrated supervisory control system which is suitable for both 110kV dry-type transformer and intelligent substation. Some special problems such as how to measure temperature in the high voltage winding is discussed in the paper. Fiber grating sensor is used in the system because of its strong anti-interference ability and accuracy for temperature. The installation method, quantity and trace of fiber are also discussed. The grounded current of core and working current could be monitored through the high precision current transformer. The supervisory and control intelligent electronic device (IED) is used the modular design method based on high-performance ARM processor in order to improve the hardware and software efficiency. It receives the value of winding and core temperature, ambient temperature, grounded current, and analyzes the status of transformer. According to the data the IED could control the cooling fan to reduce the temperature. The IED also can deliver the data to substation control layer using IEC 61850. The comprehensive application server could display the panoramic data such as monitoring and warning data of transformer.

Abstract:Due to the large energy compensation caused by the fixed dew point on the cooling coil(CC) in the conventional constant temperature and humidity air-conditioning system,a new system employing a temperature and humidity independent control device(THIC device) in the CC and a method of PID split-range control,is developed in this paper.Based on the experiment verification,the operation states and the energy saving effects of the system under different heat and moisture loads have been simulated by TRNSYS 16 software.The results show that under different working conditions,the system can automatically control air temperature and humidity independently with a high precision,by adjusting the mass flow rate and the temperature of the chilled water into the CC,and the output of the heater or the humidifier.In the design of such CC,the heat transfer area should be calculated under a higher inlet temperature of the chilled water(for example,12℃ instead of the usual 7℃).The system is energy-efficient with a rate of 30% under low temperature high humidity condition and about 50% under high temperature and low humidity condition,compared with the conventional system.

Abstract:The principle of supervisory system with microcomputer for central cooling system is presented.The system includes three subsystems,and data processing subsystem with industrial control computer.The acquisition subsystem gets basic data according to sensors,and the data is processed in processing subsystem.The communication subsystem is set for transmitting data from PLC to industrial control computer.Adopting multilevel distributed structure not only avoid the loss of signal caused by long-distance transmission,but also simplifies the wiring and facilitates adding the amount and sorts.The system is easy to be extended and upgraded.The paper completes both the software and hardware design and presents a kind of central air conditional monitoring system that can be applied to the large-scale public buildings.

Abstract:The principle and implementation of adaptive cooling control device for large capacity transformer is presented. According to the actual operational situation of substation and the accumulated operation time of cooling units the adaptive balanced integrated control of number of cooling units can be carried out. According to transformer temperature and the change rate of temperature, the adaptive protection for different faults of cooling units can be performed. The on-site operation of the prototype of this cooling control device show that this device is of high reliability and versatility, and the requirements of the intelligent non-contact control, adaptive protection and maintenance-free for large capacity transformer cooling device are satisfied.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the problem of improving the performance of the fan-coil control system in Air source heat pump air-conditioning (ASHPAC) system. Firstly, we introduce a correction module in ASHPAC system to compensate the first-order damp elements in the temperature sensor to capture the temperature in real-time. Then, an adaptive controller is developed for the outlet temperature control of the fan-coil, where the projection adaptation is included for enhancement of the control performance during variation of working conditions. The stability of the studied fan-coil control is guaranteed by rigorous Lyapunov proof. Finally, numerical analysis has been conducted to validate the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:In recent years, air-conditioners have been increasing greatly and consuming larger portion of energy. At the same time, with the development of frequency converter technique, variable-speed air-conditioners have occupied more and more market share, not only because of the better energy efficiency, but also the improved comforts. Meanwhile, frequency converters can alleviate negative influences of induction motors on power system during voltage disturbance, which will do much help to the grid. Therefore, with logical control on frequency converters, performance will be better encountered in grid failure. The purpose of this article is to evaluate the above-mentioned effects of frequency converter by simulation, and to postpone the stalling of induction motor by resorting to logical control on converters.

Abstract:The safe operation of power transformers mainly depends on proper functioning of insulation, whose status is revealed by temperatures. Applying ZigBee wireless network, a real-time temperature on-line monitoring and analysis system is developed to view the operation status of underground distribution transformers and process fault diagnosis. Furthermore, using the top-oil and hot-spot temperature calculation method in IEEE Std C57.91-1995, the system can compute a prediction of those temperatures with current load ratio and ambient temperature. System will display early warnings if temperatures are much higher than expected ones, in which way insulation aging can be handled in advance. Insulation fault and big disasters will be prevented.

Abstract:On the basis of analyzing of the coupling relationship among variations in the heating system,and in accordance with the control requirements,the paper presents a basic control strategy in which the heating system is divided into several subsystems to be controlled respectively under the premise of effective decoupling.The control program of the variable flow heating system has been designed.Hardware configuration with IPC as the superordinate computer and PLC as the subordinate system,as well as the software design method are introduced.The design of PID control procedures,and the interrupted procedures are described in detail.

Abstract:The cooling system, including the thermal grease, heatsinks, plays an important role in the power converters for its reliable operation. While in the long-term operation situation, the cooling system will degrade with different kinds of failure mechanism of the components and finally result in the damage to the power converters. In this paper, the method was proposed to monitor the thermal network parameters of the cooling system using the cooling curves of junction temperature. By establishing the relationship between the RC parameters of Cauer network and time constants of cooling curves, the thermal parameters about cooling system can be obtained. Experimental tests are performed to verify the accuracy of proposed method. Results indicate the degradation state of the cooling system can be evaluated by monitoring the variation of thermal network parameters of the cooling system.

Abstract:To reduce the large energy penalty for constant temperature and humidity control in conventional air-conditioning systems, a novel temperature and humidity independent control (THIC) device is developed for typical cooling coils. The working principle of the THIC device is to adjust the chilled water flow rate in a cooling coil (CC) to maintain constant temperature and to adjust the apparatus dew point temperature of the CC to maintain constant humidity. A split-range control strategy is developed to control the cooling coil with the THIC device, the heater and the humidifier to achieve reliable control of indoor temperature and humidity while minimizing energy use.Control performance of the THIC device was tested in an existing constant temperature and humidity air conditioning system serving a storeroom in a museum. The field test shows that the indoor temperature and humidity were well controlled in the required range. Energy performance of the THIC was tested using simulation tests on TRNSYS platform. Seven testing cases with different typical load conditions were conducted. The energy performance of the THIC is compared with conventional air conditioning systems. The results show that the THIC device can achieve power saving of 30-50%. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:The upper and lower limits in the temperature were set by infrared remote control to keep the temperature within a certain range,which constituted a real-time temperature monitoring system with the microcontroller AT89S52 with Temperature sensor DS18B20,then data was shown on LCD1602 screen.System would alarm when the temperature exceeds the upper and lower limit,then it will be heated by control relay switching and cooling by fan that controlled by LN298 so that temperature will be controlled winthin the limits set for realizing temperature monitoring.

Abstract:Heat supplies not only consume large amounts of energy, but also are very inefficient. However, in this case, a monitored control system which will realize 10% energy conservation in heat supplying is designed. This system has a two layer structure: one on-spot control layer and one upper supervisory layer. The former is exploited by PLC; the latter supervise and control the former via GPRS wireless communications. The Internet network will also in this system monitor any of the substations far away from the controlling centre. In this paper, the control scheme, hardware and software of the system will be introduced in detail. Until now, the system has been steadily running for more than 2 heating periods in the station and has pass all the relevant departments’ technical tests.

Abstract:The structure, cooling principle and operation characteristics of transformer split type cooling system was different from conventional cooling systems. Such as the research work of simulation test equipment in the field was few, causing a lack of scientific basis for the equivalence of simulation test, and parameters set of split type cooling system without scientific and professional analysis. The result is that so many features and operation characteristics were not fully grasped before. Therefore, it was necessary to carry out the corresponding research work. The experimental study was carried out in this paper. This paper would research the simulation test method of split cooling system based on a 10kV distribution transformer. The test device can realize the flexible regulation for the vertical and horizontal position. According to the temperature-rise test method of transformers, performance test of split type cooling system was carried out based on the change of oil flow or radiator location. Finally, the research results of different pipe diameter, height and horizontal distribution were proposed. The study would provide more references for operation instruction of large power transformer's split type cooling devices.

Abstract:Modular solid state transformer (SST) has prevailed in recent years, due to its feasibility for power management. Generally, an SST uses power semiconductors on medium voltage gird side to support the grid voltage, and it uses medium frequency transformers to replace the bulky line-frequency transformer. Therefore, a competitive lifespan of an SST compared with conventional power conversion system is a key topic in this area. Thermal control plays an important role in lifespan management of power semiconductors, which is the key components in SSTs. Thus, this paper proposes an active thermal control strategy for Cascaded H-Bridge (CHB) in SSTs to increase lifespan of the rectifier stage. Employed by the proposed strategy, simulated circuit shows that thermal stress on power semiconductors in CHBs is effectively balanced, and the maximum junction temperature can be reduced by 10.2%, which leads to a longer lifespan of key components.

Abstract:The paper introduces the basic design procedure of forming the control system of an electric water heater with the single chip microcomputer. The control system of the electric tankless water heater with good function is formed with the single chip microcomputer of AT89C52. Besides normal water temperature control in the electric water heater and security control, the control system is featured with intelligent functions including producing fixed temperature water according user's setting and creepage protection detection of AC-L and AC-N ultra-temperature protection etc. The emphasis is laid on the principle of the control system, the structure and the functions of the hardware circuit and software design methods.

Abstract:To meet the requirements of integrated function,networking control,and status visualization for the monitoring equipments in modernized intelligent substations,a new local cooler intelligent control device was designed to update the traditional cooler control devices.And a long-distance control and intelligent electronic monitoring device was also developed based on IEC 61850 protocol.This control system,to a great extent,improves security,stability and reliability of the transformers.The control system has been used in Lanxi 500 kV digital substation,which is one of the first pilot projects of intelligent substation in China.
