Abstract:Recently a new multiple dimensional stochastic order named correlation order was proposed to examine how the dependence among the individual risks effects riskness of the portfolios. This paper aims to discuss the relationship between correlation order and the supermodular order in general. Moreover, this paper also makes a comparison in the closeness of distributions of order statistics of random vectors ordered by correlation order. Such a comparison leads to a result more general than that in Hu and Hu [1997. Statist. Probab. Lett. 37, 1-6]. (C) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Stochastic comparison on order statistics from heterogeneous-dependent observations has been paid lots of attention recently. This paper devotes to investigating the ordering properties of order statistics from dependent observations. We derive the usual stochastic order for sample minimums and the second smallest order statistic, the dispersive order and the star order for minimums of samples having proportional hazards and Archimedean survival copulas. Similar ordering results are also obtained for maximums and the second largest order statistic of samples having proportional reversed hazards and Archimedean copulas. Several examples illustrating the main results are presented as well.

Abstract:This article studies the stochastic comparisons of order statistics with dependent and heterogeneous lower-truncated Weibull samples under Archimedean copula. To begin, we obtain the usual stochastic and hazard rate orders of the largest and smallest order statistics from heterogeneous and dependent lower-truncated Weibull samples under Archimedean copula. Second, under Archimedean copula, we get the convex transform and the dispersive orders of the largest and smallest order statistics from dependent and heterogeneous lower-truncated Weibull samples. Finally, several numerical examples are given to demonstrate the theoretical conclusions.

In the presence of the Archimedean copula or survival copula for the random variables, we obtain the usual stochastic order of the sample extremes and the second smallest order statistic, the dispersive order and the star order of the sample extremes.

Abstract:Let X-1 , . . . , X-n be a random sample from a p-dimensional population distribution. Assume that c(1)n(alpha) <= p <= c(2)n(alpha) for some positive constants c(1), c(2) and alpha. In this paper we introduce a new statistic for testing independence of the p-variates of the population and prove that the limiting distribution is the extreme distribution of type I with a rate of convergence O ((log n)(5/2)/root n). This is much faster than O (1/log n), a typical convergence rate for this type of extreme distribution. A simulation study and application to stochastic optimization are discussed.

Abstract:Ordering properties on order statistics from heterogeneous observations have been paid lots of attention. This article devotes to investigating the ordering properties on order statistics from statistically dependent observations. We build the likelihood ratio order and the (reversed) hazard rate order of the extremal values and their adjacent order statistics. Also, some applications of our comparison results in TTE model and its dual version, auction theory and k-out-of-n reliability systems are presented.

Abstract:This manuscript investigates the stochastic comparisons of the second-order statistics from dependent and heterogeneous general semi-parametric family of distributions observations. Some sufficient conditions on the usual stochastic order of the second-order statistics from dependent and heterogeneous observations are established under the p-larger order and the reciprocally majorization order. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical findings. In addition, the results of the Theorem are applied to two important models. Finally, we use a group of real data for empirical analysis to carry out reliability analysis.

Abstract:We propose some new results on the comparison of the minimum or maximum order statistic from a random number of non-identical random variables. Under the non-identical set-up, with certain conditions, we prove that random minimum (maximum) of one system dominates the other in hazard rate (reversed hazard rate) order. Further, we prove variation diminishing property (Karlin [8]) for all possible restrictions to derive the new results.

We introduce the notion of asymptotic stochastic order for random processes and define four such orders. Various properties and interrelations of the orders are discussed. Sufficient conditions for these orders to hold for certain stochastic processes, evolving from some statistical entities of interest, are derived.

Abstract:In the literature of stochastic orders, one rarely finds results that can be considered as criteria for the non-comparability of random variables. In this paper, we provide results that enable researchers to use simple tools to conclude that two random variables are not comparable with respect to the convex transform order. The criteria are applied to prove the non-comparability of parallel systems with components that are either exponential, Weibull or Gamma distributed, providing a negative answer for a conjecture about comparability with respect to the convex transform order in a much broader scope than its initial statement.

Abstract:We consider a sequence of dependent Bernoulli variables where the success probability of the trial conditional on the past history is a linear function of the mean number of successes achieved to that point. An almost sure invariance principle is established for the partial sum and we also generalize the model to a multi-dimensional case, extending the results of Heyde (2004), James et al. (2008) and Wu et al. (2012).

Abstract:A necessary and sufficient condition is obtained for a Poisson binomial random variable to be stochastically larger (or smaller) than a binomial random variable. It is then used to deal with the stochastic comparisons of order statistics from heterogeneous populations with those from a homogeneous population. The result has obvious applications in the stochastic comparisons of lifetimes of k-out-of-n systems having independent components.

Abstract:We consider a class of dependent random variables where the dependence structure involves a factor driven by Sn/n. Under very mild conditions for the innovation, we obtain several asymptotic results for the partial sums including basic asymptotics and strong limit theorems. The fact that the asymptotic properties differ strikingly in a neighbour of a critical point makes the model very interesting.

Abstract:In the context of actuarial science, the second largest claim amount is crucial to insurance analysis since they provide useful information for determining annual premium. In this article, we provide sufficient conditions of the second largest claim amounts arising from two sets of dependent and heterogeneous individual risk models according to various stochastic orders. It is first shown that the reversed hazard order between the occurrence probabilities vectors implies the reversed hazard order of the second largest claim amounts under certain conditions. Second, sufficient conditions are established for the usual stochastic ordering of the second largest claim amounts arising from heterogeneous dependent individual risk models under copula dependence. Finally, several examples illustrating the theoretical results are presented as well.
