Abstract:Macrobenthos is a very important ecological group and occupies an important position in the energy flow and material circulation in marine ecosystem. They mainly consist of mollusks, polychaetes, crustaceans and echinoderms. Dayuwan Bay is a semi-closed bay in the southeast of Cangnan County of Zhejiang province, which is located between 120°39'00″E and 121°31'00″E and between 27°21'55″N and 27°24'30″N. Based on the data of the macrobenthic animals sampled from 15 stations in the Dayuwan Bay in the summer of 2006 after the super typhoon Saomai (No. 0608) their distribution in the area after typhoon is analyzed. For quantitative analysis, the samples were collected with 0.05 m2 box corer and 2 successful grabs were regarded as one sample at a station. After removing the mud the specimens were filtered with 0.5 mm sieve, then the ones were fixed with 75% alcohol while the big ones with 10% formalin. 54 species of macrobenthos were identified, including 22 species of Polychaeta, also 22 species of Mollusca,5 species of Crustacea,3 species of Echinodermata, and 2 other species. The average number of species was about 5~20 at each sample station, with the maximum number of 20 species at station S6. The average biomass is 18.6 g/m2 and the average inhabited density is 349 ind/m2. Species similarity clustering and multidimensional scale analysis resulted in 3 communities at the 50% similarity level. The dominant species were Nassarius siquinjorensis,Capitella capitata, and Siliqua minima in group I; Paraprionospio pinnata,Sternaspis scutata, and Nassarius siquinjorensis in group Ⅱ; and Nassarius siquinjorensis and Eocylichna braunsi in group Ⅲ. Community structures are different in different area. Compared with the data obtained early 1980s,the abundance and biomass of the macrobenthos in this investigation were obviously higher than those in 1982,which were most likely resulted from the land-based nutrients entering into the coastal waters. Although the species compositions and the number of the benthic animal in the Dayuwan Bay are a little bit different from the previous data, the main species of Polychaeta and Mollusca quite the same. In order to find out the best way to enhance and protect the marine living resources, the impact of human activities on the biodiversity of the macrobenthos in the Dayuwan Bay should be studied further.
