Abstract:The title compound (C59H60BrNOP2Pd, M-r=1047.3) was synthesized in good yield from alpha-methylbenzylamine and 4, 6-di-tert-butyl-3-formyl-2-hydroxyphenyl bis(triphenylphosphine)palladium bromide. The latter was obtained from 3-bromo-4, 6-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and tetrakis (triphenylphosphine) palladium. It crystallizes in monoclinic space group P2(1)/c with the cell dimensions a=17.882(4), b=11.065(2), c=26.143.(5) Angstrom, beta=90.55(3)degrees, V=5173(3) Angstrom(3), Z=4, D-c=1.233gcm(-3), F(000)=2160, mu=1.233 mm(-1). The structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full matrix least-square method, and the final crystallographic discrepancy factor is 0.0647 for 5467 observed reflections. The crystal structure determination of the title compound shows that the coordination environment around the Pd centre is tetragonal with two Pd-P bonds of 2.333(2) Angstrom and 2.339 (2) Angstrom, respectively, a Pd-Br length of 2.536(1) Angstrom and a Pd-C bond of 2.032(8) Angstrom.
