Cox regression analysis of factors related to prognosis of esophageal cancer after radiotherapy

Abstract:Objective To study the prognostic factors in patients with cancer of the esophagus after radiotherapy using Cox proportional hazard model and to evaluate the validity of CT-staging. Methods The clinical data of 70 cases of esophageal cancer treated with radiotherapy were collected, and seven factors including CT-stage were analyzed using Cox proportional hazard model. Results The major significant factors influencing survival rate after radiotherapy were CT-stage, location of tumor and short-term curative effect. The major significant factors influencing relapse after radiotherapy were CT-stage, location of tumor and age. Conclusions CT-staging can substitute for TNM staging in some ways in non-operative treatment for patients with esophageal cancer.;
