Abstract:AIM:To evaluate the difference of contrast sensitivity in eyes with myopia with or without astigmatism operated with Q-factor customized ablation LASIK and conventional LASIK.·METHODS: Twenty-seven patients without anisometropia, whose myopic degree is from -2.50D to -9.25D and astigmatism is less than -2.00 D, were enrolled in the bilateral eye study. One of a patient's eye was treated with the Q-factor customized treatment randomly (F-CAT group) and another eye was treated with conventional LASIK (control group). The target Q is -0.5 plus self-Q20. Preoperative best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), Q-factor of corneas, spherical aberration and contrast sensitivity were measured preoperatively and after operation in 1 week and 1 month. SPSS13.0 was used for statistical analysis. ·RESULTS: No significant difference was noted in UCVA or remanent diopter between the two groups at 1 month postoperatively. After operation in 1 week and 1 month, the amount of the increment of Q20 value and spherical aberration was smaller in the F-CAT group than that in the control group (P<0.05). Preoperative CS had no stati-stical difference between control and F-CAT group (P>0.05).The value of CS did not decreased after surgery. The value of postoperative CS of the custom-Q eye is higher than that of control eye in 3 c/d (P<0.05). ·CONCLUSION: For getting better CS, Q-factor customized ablation may be a more suitable choice than conventional LASIK for patients with myopia.
