Establishment and Primary Study of an Animal Model for Research of Repetitive Maxillary Expansion and Constriction

Abstract:Objective To establish an animal model for research of repetitive maxillary expansion and constriction and take primary study.Methods Twenty-two SD male rats of six weeks old were divided into 3 groups.Experiment group 1 was subjected maxillary expansion for 5 days;Experiment group 2 was subjected maxillary expansion for 5 days and then maxillary constriction for 5 days,and then expansion for 5 days,time after time,in all 25 days;every change time,take X ray and cast model.Control group did not do anything.Results X ray analysis shows,after expansion,the palatal suture was expanded;after each constriction,the palatal suture was restored.Model analysis shows:In Experiment group 1,after expansion,the distances between two incisors and between two first molars were enlarged.In Experiment group 2,after each expansion,the distances between two incisors and between two first molars are enlarged,the palatal suture was increased;after each constriction,the distance between two incisors and between two first molars were reduced;the control group did not Show any change.Conclusion animal model for research of repetitive maxillary expansion and constriction was successfully established,the palatal suture,the distances between two incisors and between two first molars were increased or reduced with maxillary expansion or constriction,the distance between two incisors and between two first molars were gradually increased with every expansion.
