Abstract:A survey of the ant fauna in Longchi Nature Reserve of Shaanxi Province shows that there are 30 species belonging to 17 genera and 4 sub-families,in which 3 genera 6 species are newly recorded in Shaanxi Province.

Abstract:There are 79 species belonging to 4 sub-families respectively in Shaanxi ants. Shaanxi ants can be divided into Palaearctic, Oriental, Widely-distributed, and Palaearctic-Nearctic ones accordingly, among which Palaearctic and Oriental ones account for larger proportion. Shaanxi ant faunas are divided into 4 sub-zones according to the climate zone and the special circumstances in Qinling. Mt. In addition, the number of genus (species) and economic value of ans are also studied and probed.

Abstract:The rodent flora was investigated in Tianzhu county, Gansu province. The results showed that there were 25 species, which belonged to 4 sub-families, eight families, two orders. Cricetidae and Dchotonidae were the dominant types, and Myosplax bailey was dominant species. Seven rodent communities were classified by different habitats. The area being harmed was 152.9 thousand hm2, accounting for 39.06％ of total grassland, which frequently occurred in alpine meadow and shrub meadow

Abstract:The Chinese butterfly fauna in Liupan Mountain Nature Reserve is studied. The results show that there are 130 species butterflies belonging to 5 families and 68 genera in this area, among which 52 species are new records to Ningxia. The Palaearctic-Oriental species appears to be predominant, accounting for 67.69% of the total species. The fauna in this area has more obvious characteristics of intergradation.

Abstract:Anxi Extra-arid Desert National Nature Reserve,situated in the west of the Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province,is a nature reserve for desert ecosystem.Mammalian species in the reserve had been investigated from 2002 to 2004.There were 30 species of mammalian in this region,belonging to 14 families and 7 orders,among which Rodentia accounted for 46.67%.As to the faunal distribution,86.67% belonged to Palaearctic realm,10.00% to widespread species and 3.33% to Oriental realm.Among the Palaeartic realm,16 species belonged to central Asia type,which originated from dry area in the central Asia,accounting for 53.33%.Present mammalian fauna in the region had been preparating to formation since Pliocene epoch,which was the results of the speciation adapted to alpine and desert environment.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the biodiversity and fauna of Tachinidae in Songshan National Nature Reserve of Beijing.Methods Entomological taxonomy and zoogeography principles and methods were used in this study.Results There were 76 species,belonging to 4 subfamilies,18 tribes and 53 genera,including 16 endemic species for China,50 new records for Beijing and 2 new records for China.The catalogue of Tachinidae in Songshan was provided.Conclusion The Palaearctic composition is the main characteristic of the Tachinidae fauna in Songshan National Nature Reserve of Beijing.This fauna is enriched by the findings in this region.All specimens are preserved in the Insect Collections,Beijing Forestry University,China.

Abstract:The genus Dolichocephala is recorded from Shaanxi Province (China) for the first time. The following three new species are described: Dolichocephala brevis sp. nov., D. longa sp. nov., and D. qinlingensis sp. nov. Their relationships with related species are discussed. An updated key to the species of Dolichocephala from China is presented.

Abstract:[Objective]To study the biodiversity of mammals and birds in the Qingliangfeng National Nature Reserve,Anhui Province.[Method] From December of 2015 to March of 2016 ,the biodiversity of mammals and birds in the Qingliangfeng National Nature Reserve were investigated by using camera infrared technology.[Result]15 species,11 families,6 orders(including 9 mammal species and 6 bird species) were identified. Among them,Syrmaticus ellioti and Muntiacus crinifrons were ClassⅠstate key protected wild animals,and Lophura nythemera,Pucrasia macrolopha and Capricornis milneedwardsii were ClassⅡstate key protected wild animals.Based on the relative abundance index,Niviventer confucianus, Lepus sinensis and Muntiacus reevesi were ranked as the 3 most abundant mammal species ,while L.nythemera,Parus major and P.macrolopha were ranked as the three most abundant bird species.The number of recorded species by camera traps in core area was significantly more than that in buffer area.[Conclusion]The study could provide scientific basis for long-term monitoring and conservation of wild animals further.

Abstract:Ant specimens of 4 subfamilies, 15 genera and 19 species were collected by trap and sample plot methods in Qufu area, Shandong. The dominant species are Pheidole rhombinoda, Messor aciculatus and Lasius alienus, of which the first two species are widely distributed over the study area. Based on these samples, species composition, species diversity, and similarity of ant communities in five habitats were analyzed, and the extent of influence by human activity and habitat heterogeneity were examined. We find that species composition and diversity indices of ant communities are different in each of the five habitats. The number of species, Shannon Wiener′s diversity index ( H ′) and Pielou′s evenness index ( J ) in deciduous broad leaved forest are the highest, while the diversity index in artificial poplar plantations is the lowest. The number of nests, number of individuals and McNaughton′s dominant index ( D) is the highest in grasslands of river floodplains. The more the habitats are disturbed, the lower the diversity index of ant community is. The highest diversity indices were observed in the habitats with high quality and high heterogeneity. Clustering analysis for five ant communities and ordination analysis for community structure by multidimensional scaling (MDS) were carried out and basiccally identical results were obtained. The results show that similarity of ant communities between artificial poplar plantation and residential districts is the highest, and similarities between other habitats are much lower. Nest size and individual number of colonys of the same ant species are different in different habitats.

Abstract:Prior to this research, 47 genera and 124 eriophyoid mite species have been known to occur in Shaanxi Province, northwestern China. We described and illustrated herein five new species collected in Shaanxi Province. They are Proartacris cathayensis sp. nov. on Carya cathayensis Sarg. (Juglandaceae), Acaphyllisa changqingiensa sp. nov. on Salix sp. L. (Salicaceae), Tegonotus albus sp. nov. on Cornus alba L. (Cornaceae), Phyllocoptruta japonica sp. nov. on Lonicera japonica Thunb. (Caprifoliaceae), Anthocoptes albosinensis sp. nov. on Betula albosinensis Burkill (Betulaceae). At the same time, one new eriophyoid mite record from China is provided, Rhinotergum schestovici Petanovic, 1988, rec. nov. on Betula albosinensis Burkill (Betulaceae). A list of eriophyoid mites from Shaanxi Province is provided. All the new species and new record described herein are vagrants on respective host plants.

Abstract:A new ant species, Strongylognathus tylonum, sp. n. is described from Mt. Taibai in Shaanxi Province, China. Description is given for the worker caste. The species is morphologically close to S. karawajewi Pisarski. A key based on worker caste is preposed for the 3 species known in China. The type-specimens of the new species is deposited in the Insect Collection, College of Forestry, Northwest Sci-Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry.

Abstract:In this paper, two new species, namely Antepipona foveapronota Qin, Chen & Li, sp. nov. from Hainan (China) and A. xinjiangensis Qin, Chen & Li, sp. nov. from Xinjiang (China) are described and illustrated. A. varentzowi (Morawitz, 1895), A. luzonensis (Rohwer, 1919), and A. curialis (Morawitz, 1895) are newly recorded from China. In addition, the infrequent species A. tylocifica Kurzenko, 1977 is also redescribed. A key to the Chinese species of the genus Antepipona is provided.

Abstract:A field survey on amphibians and reptiles was carried out in Nonggang National Nature Reserve of Guangxi,from May to August 2006,March to May and July to September 2010.Total of 88 species,27 amphibians and 61 reptiles belonging to 57 genera,19 families and 3 orders were recorded.Among them,86 species zoogeographically distribute only in Oriental realm and 2 species are widespread respectively.No Palaearctic realm species were found in this survey.Water shortage is the reason that no any frogs in genera Paa and Amolops are found in the reserves although they are very common in other region of Guangxi.

Abstract:The flora diversity of the seed plants in Laoxiancheng Nature Reserve,Shaanxi,Zhouzhi was explored.The major results of the flora are as follows:Species are comparatively rich;there are 1 131 species(including infraspecific taxon) of seed plants belonging to 109 families and 453 genera in northwest china.Among them,there are 13 species belonging to 9 genera,4 families in gymnosperm.1 118 species belong to 444 genera and 105 families in angiosperm.In those plants,the big families and the big genera play important roles;the geographical elements of the flora are comparatively complex,and the genera of temperate are the dominant areal types,the flora is ancient in origin.The flora has widely relate to other area,and the flora is the crisscrossing and assembling,mixing and transition of diversified floristic elements.These analysis results showed that this region is an important composition of Qinling Mountain plant flora.

Abstract:Pteridophyte floras in Taibaishan Natural Reserve were studied,and the results were as follows:there were 110 species of ferns belonging to 39 genera and 21 families.The dominant families and genera were obvious.In the area,the dominant families were Athyriaceae,Dryopteridaceae,Polypodiaceae and the dominant genera were Selagi-nella,Adiantum,Polystichum,Asplenium,Dryopteris and Lepisorus.The families geogrophical elements belonged to world distribution accounting for 47.6% of the total in this area,the general geogrophical elements were dominan-ted by temperate composition occupying about 58.3% of all the generals and the species′covers also temperate com-position with the proportion of 48.2% in all.On the aspect of geographical kinship,they were closely related to Fu-niushan in Henan and Hualongshan in Shaanxi,less closely with Tangjiahe in Sichuan,Wulushan in Shanxi,Songshan in Beijing,Maojingba in Hebei,Shennongjia in Hubei,and had a distant relation to Hupingshan in Hunan,Qilianshan in Gansu,ultimately,the farhermost one is Nanhuashan in Ningxia.

Abstract:The tachinid flies play an important role in the control of pests in agriculture and forestry.In this study,Tachinidae(Diptera) from Laotudingzi National Nature Reserve in Liaoning Province,China,were investigated and over 1 500 specimens collected and examined.124 species of 68 genera in 21 tribes of 4 subfamilies were identified,separately about 10.4% and 25.1% of 1 187 tachinid species of 271 known genera in China,of which 1 genus and 4 species were newly recorded in China;viz.Zophomyia Macquart,Frontina tricolor Shima,Nilea innoxia Robineau-Desvoidy,Phryxe semicaudata Herting,Opesia cana(Meigen).36 species were newly recorded from Liaoning and 14 species were endemic to China.A preliminary analysis of the tachinid flies in this region was conducted.Specimens collected in this study were deposited in the Insect Collection of Shenyang Normal University(SNU).
The Faunal Study on the Butterflies of the South Slope of Qinling Mountains

Abstract:The scope of the fauna and geographical vertical distribution of the butterflies of the south slope of Qinling Mountains are studied. The investigators try to illustrate the conservation value of the Giant Pandas' habitat through the study which spans 8 years. 191 species are recorded, 3 of them are China's new records, and 44 of them are new records of Shanxi Province. The result of a serious of analysis shows that the percentages of Oriental species, Palearctic species and widely distributive species are 40.8%, 20.9% and 31.9% respectively. The fauna of butterflies of the south slope has the character of intergradation which is correlated to the geographic location of the Qinling Mountains. The obstruction of Qinling to Oriental species is more obvious to Palearctic species. The area in question has great conservation value as following aspects: (1) The population of butterfly shows great species abundance; (2) The heterogeneity of habitat revealed by the presence of multi-subspecies and multimorphological species provides animals a steady habitat; (3) The faunal character and vertical distribution of butterflies show great value of ecological study; (4) The mid-mountain (800 - 2600 m) that has better environmental condition and less human disturbance is a typical shelter for the wild animals.
