Abstract:In order to analyze the load characteristics in areas where a large amount of air conditioners is included in summer,a method for load modeling including air conditioners is proposed.While air conditioner ratio is a vitally important parameter,a computation method is used to obtain the ratio for each type of load in different districts.To confirm the load model which is adapted to the air conditioner load,the parameters with real measured data using synthetic induction motor model and pure induction motor model are identified,and their dynamic responses are compared respectively.The results show that under normal disturbances,the synthetic induction motor model is preferred to pure induction motor model as air conditioner load model.

Abstract:It is well known that electric load is closely related to weather especially in summer and winter. Taking the load forecasting in a provincial power grid as example, the weather data used in traditional load forecasting are globally and whole date, such as maximum and minimum temperature in the province. The weather forecasting has been developed to be able to predict hourly in area of a province. This paper uses the hourly area weather data for load foresting. The issues discussed include: dividing areas, weather data synthesis, load forecasting strategies and so on. Finally, the practical application results in Henan Power Grid are given to validate the methods.

Abstract:Air conditionings (ACs) as a typical demand response (DR) resource play an important role in providing ancillary service for the grid. The detailed modeling process of the aggregated model of ACs is given firstly and it comes a conclusion that the previous models can't track the dynamic behaviors of ACs when the dispatch period becomes longer. In order to improve the modeling accuracy at longer dispatch period, we focus on a novel aggregated model of homogeneous ACs with higher accuracy to describe their operating behaviors with time, which makes the operating performances fully taken into account; the detailed derivation of the aggregated model is also given. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed aggregated model has a higher accuracy compared with previous models and can be applied in more ancillary services.

Abstract:Influenced by the ever-increasing electricity consumption and ambient temperature, the proportion of the air-conditioning load reaches up to 50% in China and shows a trend of further growth, which gives rise to the concerns of formulating effective measures to control the load growth and improve the load profile. The existing air-conditioning load forecasting methods are mostly for the total amount in a given area, rather than for a specific user or a block of users, and do not distinguish the users’ specific types, and hence lead to less accurate prediction results. Given this background, a load forecasting method for point loads is developed based on seasonal decomposition and the AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model. Specifically, a correction method for seasonal component based on the maximum air-conditioning load is presented, and the complete annual air-conditioning load curve can then be obtained. In this way, the accuracy of load forecasting is effectively improved. This forecasting method can be widely used in applications such as the planning of distribution systems, microgrids, and virtual power plants, and can also provide an effective decision-making basis for formulating actual demand-side response strategies and developing control measures to regulate the air-conditioning load, and hence to reduce the peak load.

Abstract:Residential side demand response is an important supplementary means to maintain the supply-demand balance of source-load in the power system. However， the uncertainty of user behavior makes it difficult to accurately control demand response. With residential air conditioning load being a research object， a complete distributed control model of demand response is established. A solution to unknown and variable air conditioning load is proposed. Firstly， the load control in demand response is modeled as a multi-period stochastic process， and the behavior of users’ participation in demand response is abstracted as a Markov chain. Afterward， a thermodynamic model of the user is established based on linear regression and the Gaussian process to generalize and define residential comfort and calculate Markov transfer probability. For the problems of high cost and poor privacy of centralized control， a distributed control algorithm is designed with peak-shaving demand response as a classical object. Finally， the algorithm is validated using actual load data， achieving an excellent peak-shaving effect.

Abstract:The central air conditioning system provides city dwellers with an efficient and comfortable environment. Meanwhile, coinciding with their use, the building electricity load is increased, as central air conditioners consume a lot of electricity. It has become necessary to control central air conditioners for storage and to analyze the energy saving optimization of central air conditioner operation. This study investigates the energy consumption background of central air conditioning systems, and proposes an intelligent load prediction method. With a back propagation (BP) neural network, we use the data collected in the actual project to build the cooling load prediction model for central air conditioning. The network model is also trained using the Levenberg–Marquardt (LM) algorithm, and the established model is trained, tested, and predicted by importing a portion of the sample data, which is filtered by preprocessing. The experimental results show that most of the data errors for training, testing, and prediction are within 10%, indicating that the accuracy achievable by the model can meet the practical requirements, and can be used in real engineering projects.

Abstract:Recent years, the strain of electricity supplying becomes more and more serious, especially in the period of summer electricity peak load. The huge increasing of air conditioning is one of the main reason related to the climbing peak load, so doing research on how to reduce central air conditioning load rationally and effectively has significance towards releasing the conflict between electricity supplying and demanding in the period of peak load. There are three main measures to deal with air conditioning load, first one is ameliorating equipments and using air conditioning which is more effective and saving energy, second one is using ice storage air conditioning to stagger power consumption, third one is pushing the technology of periodic stopping of central air conditioning. Practice has proved that application of the first two measures hasn't achieved success abroad because of large investment of equipments and long payback period of investment, however, the third one lacks of feasibility analysis of foundation because of its systematization and complexity. This paper designs a experimental scheme of periodic stopping of central air conditioning in office buildings and central business district. Establishing research strategy to the following questions included forecasting air conditioning load, grouping air conditioning units and setting the space of periodic stopping. A controlling mode of air conditioning units which can exchange information between electricity supplying side and demanding side and the operation procedure of optimizing experimental scheme based on uses' feedback are designed. Then, analyzing and evaluating the influence of cooling quality, the impact of reducing peak load through establishing the model of demand response. At last, simulating the experimental scheme and doing further discussion about the result.

Abstract:With the continuous development of economics and hence the ever-improving of life of the public,the percentage of the high-temperature related loads such as air conditioning over the total load demand has been increasing in the summer period.Load forecasting is significantly affected by weather factors.Given this background,the relationship between weather factors and loads is first addressed,and a short-term load forecasting method based on the sensitivities of loads to temperature changes is developed with the accumulative effect of temperatures taken into account.Based on the temperature of the prediction day,the number of sustaining high-temperature days and the differences between the temperatures of the prediction day and the previous days,the intensity of the accumulative effect can be calculated,and hence the temperature is modified.The sensitivities of loads to temperature changes are obtained by the regression model.The load is then predicted based on the differences between the temperature of the prediction day and that of the previous days,taking the load in a previous day as the baseline value.The accuracy of the proposed method is demonstrated by numerous testing based on the historical load data of Guangdong power system,and meets the requirement of the power system dispatch and control center.

Abstract:In the context of global energy transformation, it is particularly important to tap the potential of flexible load on the distribution network side to participate in grid operation. As an important flexible adjustable load in the distribution network, air conditioning loads have typical characteristics of thermal energy storage, rapid response, and flexible scheduling, which is an ideal load resource. Effective and reliable load aggregation technologies for air conditioning load participation are the basis for operation in a power grid. To better understand the current research status of air conditioning load aggregation technologies and make full use of the existing research results to carry out further research, this paper comprehensively reviews the various aggregation technologies being used in distribution networks, including the modeling strategy for air conditioning load aggregation, control strategy, control method, and application analysis. Moreover, future research directions are summarized as a guide to improving the technology of air conditioning load aggregation.

A Real-time Adaptive Forecasting Algorithm for Electric Power Load

Abstract:Forecasting of electric power load is the basis of achieving the power system automatic operation, real-time and accurate forecasting of load determines the run-time of most power equipment in the system, and is the foundation of accomplishing the safety and economy of power system running, it influences the life period and reliability directly, and is of great importance in theory and practical use. Real-time adaptive forecasting algorithm for power load in this paper is time series analysis method, which is based on ARIMA (p, d, o) model structure and whose parameter estimation adopts the recursive forgetting factor least square method (RFFLS). The Astrom forecasting algorithm, which is based on linear minimum square error of prediction, is used for forecasting. Modeling procedure of the algorithm is relatively simple compared with traditional time series method, and the algorithm avoids the fussy process of model structure recognition and verification, less data is needed and accuracy of parameters estimation is fine. Experimental verification of the algorithm is made using power load data of certain place in Hebei district. The result shows that the forecasting algorithm can estimate the model parameters online, and meet the requirement of dynamically predicting power load, solving the problem of great effect of random disturbance and uncertainty on one step real-time forecasting of power load. Good forecasting performance is acquired while the algorithm is applied in the working days, weekends and different seasons. The results show that the algorithm has fine adaptability

Abstract:Owing to the importance of the short-term load forecasting, research in this area has resulted in the development of numerous forecasting methods. But the climatic factors will affect greatly the precision of the traditional short-term load forecasting methods, especially the temperature, humidity, wind and rain, etc‥ Following the analysis of electric loads and climatic data, the paper presents their relation features and changing rules. According to that, the new forecasting model considering the climatic factors is also introduced. Test results show that the new method can obtain high precision.

Abstract:Nowadays, cooling load is mainly attributable to upgrade of a new high of power grid load. An accurate calculation and prediction of cooling load can better meet power demands at peak hours in summer. Based on the historical summer cooling load and temperature data of Sichuan province, the characteristics of summer cooling load and temperature in Sichuan are examined firstly. Next, the random and nonlinear relations of power load are studied. Finally, the BP neural network model optimized by the genetic algorithm (GA) is employed to achieve accurate prediction of summer cooling load in Sichuan province. Results suggest that cooling load is closely connected with temperature and air-conditioner ownership, and that the BP neural network optimized by the GA is effective in predicting summer cooling load. To sum up, this research can provide solid basis for power load scheduling.

Abstract:Radiant cooling and heating and fresh air system is more and more widely used in residential buildings as a high-comfort, energy-saving and efficient air-conditioning system. The fresh air system handles all the moisture load and part of the cooling load of the building. In actual operation, there are some problems, such as high proportion of energy consumption and mismatch between load and operation characteristics. In this paper, a zone-level artificial neural network (ANN) model is established to predict the moisture load of residential building fresh air system. Compared with the measured data, the zonelevel ANN model is established and verified. The total data used for training and testing are 13260 and 864 respectively. This paper also introduces a system control optimization model, and optimizes the operation of the fresh air system combined with the load forecasting results of the zone-level ANN model. Under the scenario of potential energy storage and time of use price, the optimization control strategy is formulated to improve the flexibility of the system. The results show that the zone-level ANN model has high prediction accuracy. The root mean square error variation coefficients corresponding to the prediction results of moisture load is 8.72%. The optimization results can reduce the operation energy consumption and cost of the system by 27.2% and 29.2% respectively in the whole air conditioning season.

Abstract:Abstract This study aims to improve the real-time accuracy of cooling load forecasting for heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems (HVAC). This article takes the cooling load in a study room in Qingdao, China, which has been put into use for the first time, as the research object, and establishes a TRNSYS simulation platform to obtain sufficient load data. After using the mean influence value (MIV) and Spearman correlation coefficient to screen the characteristic variables, a hybrid algorithm (CS-CPSO) based on cuckoo search (CS) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed. Firstly, the iterative extremum is introduced to PSO, secondly, mechanism of levy random flight to generate random new nest in CS is used to initialize PSO particles adaptively, Finally, the optimization algorithm is applied to optimize the back propagation (BP) and support vector regression (SVR) load training models (WBP, WSVR, RBP, RSVR) of the working day (W) and rest day (R), respectively. The maximum grey correlation coefficient is utilized to establish the both models (CS-CPSO-C W , CS-CPSO-C R ) of the working day (W) and rest day (R) based on CS-CPSO. In this way, the forecasting results are optimized and then compared with the regression prediction method. The analysis shows that the accuracy of the optimized BP model and SVR model are improved and fully considering the differences, the accuracy of the cooling load prediction is effectively promoted by separately, optimal selection between the prediction values of advanced models (CS-CPSO-W BP , CS-CPSO-W SVR and CS-CPSO-R BP , CS-CPSO-R SVR ) gives full play to each algorithm’s advantages and makes up for their shortcomings, and it greatly increases reliability and improves accuracy, which in turn provides the basis for the optimal plan, control, and operation of the HVAC.

Abstract:Based on energy saving and object feature of heat supply for building,prediction of heating load and predictive control tactics are presented. According to time series analysis principle, heating load with energy saving is predicted, which is taken as the set points for predictive control. In order to meet the requirement of real time property, the predictive model is simplified according to the feature of heating object. Predictive control algorithm using predictive error correction to replace error correction is presented.Thesimulationofcorrelationalgorithms of heat supply system is made with successful results.

Abstract:Electricity load forecasting plays a significant role in power system. Among all load forecasting tasks, high granularity cases, i.e., industrial and residential level are acknowledged much more challenging than the aggregated forecast. Heterogeneous high granularity loads with different patterns make the performance of load forecasting frameworks volatile, which brings difficulty for model design and model selection. To this end, we explore the predictability for different loads in terms of various indicators. Specifically, we measure the predictability for various electric loads from internal load structure and external prediction accuracy using different forecasting models. We further adopt the notion of job-housing ratio and construct synthetic data using various loads with predefined portions to simulate electric loads for different job-housing cases, which provide a new perspective to study the load predictability of the transformed power systems under accelerated urbanization process. Numerical study shows that different electric loads have various degrees of predictability. Meanwhile, job-housing ratios make a significant difference in the performance of prediction models and the effects on the predictability are quite varied when combining different industry loads.
