Abstract:A protocol for the Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes with methylene compounds catalyzed by task specifed ionic liquid 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]-undec-7-en-8-ium lactate under solvent-free conditions has been developed. The reactions proceed at ambient temperature and the work-up procedures are very simple. Good to excellent yields could be obtained. The ionic liuid could be simply prepared and recycled efficiently.

Abstract:An efficient, clean and facile protocol for the Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes with active methylene compounds catalysed by task specific ionic liquid 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]-undec-7-en-8-ium acetate in an aqueous medium has been developed. The reactions proceed at room temperature and high to excellent yields were afforded. The work-up procedure is very simple. The ionic liquid could be recycled for 10 runs without noticeably loss of its catalytic activity.

Abstract:Two kinds of ionic liquids have been directly synthesized from L-prolinol by a simple and convenient method in excellent yields. The application of the ionic liquids as reagents and solvents for the chemoselective, regioselective, and stereoselective synthesis of 1,2- or 1,3-bromoesters from aromatic aldehydes and 1,2- or 1,3-diols at room temperature has been studied. Good to excellent yields and moderate enantiomeric excesses were obtained under these reaction conditions

Abstract:The novel efficient procedure has been developed for the oxathioacetalization of carbonyl compounds and 2-mercaptoethanol at room temperature under solvent-free condition. The results showed that the novel multi-SO 3 H functionalized ionic liquid was very efficient for the reactions with the good to excellent yields in short time. Operational simplicity, without need of any solvent, room temperature, low cost of the catalyst used, high yields, applicability to large-scale reactions, reusability and chemoselectivity are the key features of this methodology.

Abstract:The novel multi-SO 3 H functionalized strong Brønsted acidic ionic liquid has been prepared and its catalytic activities were investigated through the acetalization. The results showed that the novel catalyst was very efficient for the reaction with the average yield over 90% under solvent-free condition at room temperature. Operational simplicity, without need of any solvent, a small amount of usage, low cost of the catalyst used, high yields, applicability to large-scale reactions and reusability are the key features of this methodology. The novel catalyst also has great potential for the green process.

Abstract:Bromination of alkenes has been conducted in a room temperature ionic liquid {[bmim]+ CCl3COO– (1–butyl–3–methylimidazolium trichloroacetate)} involving the oxidation of NaBr by hydrogen peroxide with no catalyst. Comparatively fast reactions, good yields and the atom economic nature make this environmentally benign reaction an appealing procedure for alkene and alkyne bromination.

Abstract:We report here an efficient and green method for Biginelli condensation reaction of aldehydes, β-ketoesters and urea or thiourea catalyzed by Brønsted acidic ionic liquid [Btto][p-TSA] under solvent-free conditions. Compared to the classical Biginelli reaction conditions, the present method has the advantages of giving good yields, short reaction times, near room temperature conditions and the avoidance of the use of organic solvents and metal catalyst.

Abstract:The acetalization reactions of isobutyraldehyde with 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol (TMPD) for the synthesis of 2,4-diisopropyl-5,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane were carried out under mild reaction conditions using four water-stable Brønsted-acidic task-specific ionic liquids ([HMIM]BF4, —SO3H functionalized acidic ionic liquid, —COOH functionalized acidic ionic liquid, [NMP][HSO4]) as environmentally benign catalysts for the first time. The process is highly effective and very selective. The —COOH functionalized Brønsted acidic ionic liquid with the two acid sites (IL-3) exhibited the most excellent catalytic performance under mild reaction conditions. The —COOH functionalized Brønsted acidic ionic liquid could be conveniently separated from the product and easily recycled in subsequent runs.

Abstract:A method for the synthesis of (Z)-vinyl chalcogenides by the coupling of vinyl bromides with thiols or diphenyl diselenide using copper(1) salts as catalysts in ionic liquids based on amino acids is reported. The desired vinyl chalcogenides were obtained in good to excellent yields with retention of stereochemistry. The ionic liquids play multiple roles in the reaction: they act as solvent, base, and excellent promoter for the copper-catalyzed coupling reactions.

Abstract:A facile one-pot synthesis of functionalized (E)-β -arylvinyl bromides bearing various 4-alkoxycarbonyl and 4-aryloxycarbonyl groups was achieved by debrominative decarboxylation of anti-2,3- dibromo-3-(4-carboxyphenyl)propanoic acid in the presence of AgOAc and subsequent esterification in the presence of dicyclohexyl carbodiimide and dimethylaminopyridine. This method gives (E)-β - arylvinyl bromides in high stereoselectivities and high yields, and tolerates aldehyde, ester, and nitro functional groups.

Abstract:A convenient protocol for the exclusively regio- and stereoselective installation of a bromine atom on the 2-arylvinylsulfonyl fluorides using lithium bromide (LiBr) as the bromine source was described, providing (Z)-1-bromo-2-arylethene-1-sulfonyl fluorides (Z-BASF) with versatile reactive handles (bromide, vinyl, and sulfonyl fluoride) in ≤88% yield. Meanwhile, Z-BASF molecules displayed various reactivities in a series of chemical transformations.

Abstract:A real continuous-flow process for synthesis of alkyl bromides or cyanides was demonstrated by nucleophilic substitution reactions of tosylates with bromide and/or cyanide conducted in ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tosylate. The process provides higher yields and shorter reaction time and is easily upgraded to large scale.

Abstract:A green and simple synthesis of 4-ayrl-3,4-dihydro-1H-pyrimido[1,2-a]benzimidazole derivatives was accomplished in excellent yields via the reaction of aryl aldehyde, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and 1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-amine in ionic liquid of [bmim(+)][BF4-]. This protocol has the advantages of easier work-up, mild reaction conditions, high yields, and an environmentally benign procedure compared with the reported methods.
