Abstract:Based on the latest development of the new trade theory and making use of the three-element decomposition framework of export growth and the six-digit level export data of HS 92 version during 2001-2007,this paper studies the three-margin of export growth and comparison of the two countries and discusses the differences between the ways of export growth adopted by them. The following conclusions have been drawn: the total volume and quantity of China's exported products are higher than that of India's,and the price is lower;the growth rate of the price and total volume of China's export products is higher than that of India's,while the growth rate of quantity is lower;the price of China's export products is decreasing with distance, which is the typical mode of win by quantity, while the price of India's export products is increasing with distance, which is the typical mode ofwin by quality.Generally speaking, there exist larger differences between China's and India's export growth patterns;however,it seems that a trend of convergence between the two countries appears.
