Evidence-base study on the affordability of essential drugs in Shanghai

Abstract:The study design was based on the standard methodology which was developed by the World Health Organization and Health Action International.Data was collected from a total of 30 public sector facilities and 20 retail pharmacies in Shanghai four districts.The affordability of treatment was calculated for pre-selected conditions identified in the WHO/HAI manual by comparing the total cost of medicines prescribed at a standard dose,to the daily wage of the lowest paid unskilled worker(25 RMB yuan).The treatment cost was calculated using the price data which collected at the facilities.
