Abstract:The performance of code-division multiple access (CDMA) spread spectrum systems using nonlinear prediction filters in the presence of narrow-band interference is approximately analyzed. Closed-form approximate analytical expressions for the performance improvement are derived. Also, the closed-form approximate analytical results are compared with simulated results by numerical examples. The comparison results show that the analytical results are valid when the interference bandwidth is small.

Abstract:For detecting binary signals in symmetric noise with unknown probability density functions (PDF), a nonlinear receiver is proposed based on the bistable systems with autoregressive models of order 1 [AR(1)]. The bistable systems are utilized to pre-process the noisy observations ahead of the linear correlation (LC) detector. The permutations of the observations are utilized to bypass the design of the optimal LC vector which depends on the noise PDF. The detection performances, in the form of probabilities of error, in some non-Gaussian noise are evaluated versus the matched filter (MF) and Volterra filter (VF) through numerical simulations. The results show that the bistable receiver performs better than MF receiver when the noise deviates from Gaussian distribution, and seems more robust compared to the VF receiver.

Abstract:A new nonlinear filter structure, the minimum redundant nonlinear filter (MRNF), for combating narrowband interference in direct sequence spread spectrum systems is proposed. Analytical expressions for the signal-to-noise ratio improvement factors are derived under the condition of single tone interference. The results show that the MRNF provides significantly better performance than the minimum redundant transversal filter.

Abstract:The narrow-band interference suppression capability of spread-spectrum systems can be further enhanced by employing interference suppression filters: This paper proposes a number of new nonlinear algorithms;for narrow-band interference suppression in code division multiple access spread-spectrum systems. Our research consists of two parts. 1) We propose a multiuser decision-directed Kalman (MDK) filter, which has the same performance as the nonlinear approximate conditional mean (ACM filter but a much simpler algorithm 2) We use the nonlinear function in the ACM and the MDK filters to develop nonlinear adaptive least mean square filters with significantly improved performance. Simulation results indicate that our nonlinear algorithms outperform conventional linear ones.

Abstract:This paper proposes a feed-forward neural network predictor to adaptively estimate and suppress the narrowband interference (NBI) in the Direct Sequence-Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) signal. The iterative code-aided estimation is used to further improve the system performance. Simulation results reveal that the proposed algorithm outperforms conventional linear prediction filtering and recurrent neural networks (RNN) based NBI rejection methods, in different interference models.

Abstract:The output signal to interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of linear multistage parallel interference cancellation receiver in a random environment is considered. When the number of users and the spreading factors tend to infinity with their ratio fixed, the properties of limiting SINR are studied. Under some weak conditions, the strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the SINR are obtained.the tools of large dimensional random matrices are mainly employed.

Abstract:Generally the SNR of Direct sequence spread spectrum signal is less than 0dB,which makes it very difficult to be detected under the condition that the parameters of the transmitter is unknown. A blind detection algorithm capable of detecting the DSSS signals even when it is weaker than the noise level is proposed. According to this algorithm, it is not necessary to know any parameters of transmitter. The proposed algorithm is based on second order moment, and the problem of low SNR is compensated by long time integral. It is proven that the statistical distribution parameter changes under different hypothesis. The simulation result is also given to verify the effectiveness of this algorithm.
Study on the DS-SS Signals Despreading without the PN Sequence under Narrow Band Interference

Abstract:In this paper, an approach of eigen-analysis for DS-SS signals under narrow band (multiple tone) interference is proposed, which can estimate the PN (Pseudo Noise) sequence blindly in the low SNR (Signal Noise Ratio) and SIR (Signal Interference Ratio) DS-SS signals. Of course, the parameters of the DS-SS signals (such as period and chip interval of the PN sequence) need to be known. Firstly, the received signal is divided into a lot of non-overlapping temporal vectors according to the period of PN sequence, and then the correlation matrix of the vectors is calculated and accumulated. The eigenvalue decomposition of the matrixes can be computed and the narrow band interference waveforms and the PN sequences of the received signals from the main component eigenvectors can be blindly estimated in the end. Based on the estimated narrow band interference waveforms and PN sequences, the narrow band interference can be rejected, and the DS-SS signals despreading without the PN code can be realized too. Theoretic analysis and experimental results show that the approach is very effective. It can work well on the lower SNR and SIR ambient.

Abstract:In this paper, an approach of eigen-structure analysis for DS-SS (direct sequence spread spectrum) signals under NBI (narrow band interference) is proposed, which can estimate the PN (pseudo-noise) sequence blindly in lower SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) and SIR (signal-to-interference ratio) DS-SS signals. Of course, some parameters of DS-SS signals (such as period and chip interval of PN sequence) need to be known. First, the received signal is divided into continued nonoverlapping temporal vectors according to the period of PN sequence, and then we calculate and accumulate the correlation matrix of these vectors one by one. An operation of eigenvalue decomposition may be applied to the matrices; we can estimate the eigen-structure (which include the NBI eigen-waveforms and PN sequences) of received signals from the principal component eigenvectors blindly in the end. Based on the estimated NBI eigen-waveforms and PN sequences, the NBI can be rejected, and the DS-SS signals can be de-spreaded without the PN sequence too. Abstract:This paper proposes a narrowband interference (NBI) suppression algorithm for Direct Sequence-Code Division Multiple Access systems. The NBI is considered from heterogeneous networks, and predicted based on its cyclostationary characteristic using a nonlinear feed-forward neural network predictor which eliminates the nonlinearity of the spread spectrum (SS) signal in the NBI prediction. To further improve the suppression performance, this paper exploits the structure of the spreading code, and proposes an iterative code-aided algorithm to jointly estimate the NBI and the SS signal. Simulation results reveal that the proposed algorithm largely outperforms the conventional linear prediction filtering and linear-conjugate linear polyperiodically time-varying filtering methods in both the signal to interference plus noise ratio improvement and the bit error rates, when it operates in NBI-contaminated environments.

Abstract:This paper introduces the cyclostationarity model of DSSS baseband signal,and makes a detailed analysis of the cyclostationarity properties of DSSS signal and BPSK modulated narrowband interference in theory.A novel adaptive narrowband interference suppression filter employed the FRESH filter is proposed.Numerical results show that the receiver based on the FRESH filter can achieve a better performance than the receiver based on the conventional LTI filter.

Abstract:This study proposes an analytical technique underpinned by processing gain to evaluate the anti-jamming potential of an underwater acoustic direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DSSS) communication system that employs a short-period pseudo-noise (PN) sequence. The processing gain comes from the symmetry of the coding, which provides a mechanism for separating desired signals from unwanted ones, and the apparent randomness of the coding, which suppresses interference and noise in the system. The robustness of such a system against wideband interference, partial-band jamming, and single-frequency interference is emulated. Outcomes suggest that, in comparison to a standard binary phase shift keying (BPSK) system, the DSSS system's ability to resist wideband interference is limited, with only a marginal increase in immunity performance of approximately 0.5 dB. Contrarily, it suppresses partial-band jamming effectively, with the suppression level dependent on the interference bandwidth and its relative position concerning the signal carrier frequency. The influence of single-frequency interference on system performance depends similarly on its relative location relative to the signal carrier frequency. In all situations where the interference frequency offset is an integer multiple of the bit bandwidth, the system exhibits the worst performance when the frequency offset equals the bit bandwidth. Upon comparing resistance levels to identical power interferences targeted at the signal carrier frequency, our system demonstrates optimal resilience to single-frequency interference. In concordance with the empirical findings, the simulated results substantiate both the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed analytical method based on processing gain. Subsequently, this study contributes a novel perspective for evaluating the anti-jamming potential of DSSS systems.

New Nonlinear Signal Processing Method Based on LS Algorithm and Decision Feedback at Receiver

Abstract:This paper proposes a new low-complexity decision feedback nonlinear equalization architecture. It applies the Least Square (LS) algorithm to the coefficient updating structure of decision feedback blind equalization polynomials and momentum coefficient updating algorithm. It uses a low-complexity memory polynomial model to compensate for the nonlinearity and memory effects caused by amplifiers and channels. Besides, the new structure uses an improved iterative LS algorithm when updating the coefficients of the memory polynomial model, and it uses the decision feedback signal as a standard point to calculate the cost function. The new processing method can handle sizeable nonlinear distortion and memory effects. In the model coefficient updating, the symbol point data block is used to update the memory polynomial coefficients by the improved LS algorithm. Compared with other traditional Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithms or Recursive Least Square (RLS) algorithms, the new method has higher stability. The new algorithm can use shorter data blocks to meet the Low-Density Parity Check Code (LDPC) decoding performance requirements and save a lot of computing and storage resources for satellite receivers. It has excellent reference significance for practical engineering applications.
Linear Anti-interference Algorithm for Digital Signal Transmission in Fiber Optic Communication Networks based on Link Analysis

Abstract:In order to achieve accurate transmission of protection signals in fiber optic communication networks, it is necessary to perform channel balancing configuration of fiber optic communication networks and adaptive forwarding control processing of relay protection signals, the author proposes an accurate transmission method for relay protection signals in fiber optic communication networks based on time-varying multipath fading suppression and adaptive beamforming. The system analyzes the sources of wireless long-distance pain signal interference signals, introduces anti-interference technologies such as two-dimensional joint processing (STAP), provides anti-interference algorithms and related gain analysis, and conducts signal processing gain simulation using MATLAB. Based on the analysis of comprehensive simulation results, at a given symbol length, the signal bandwidth increases, and the processing gain infinitely approaches the given theoretical limit value, rather than increasing nonlinearly. The reason is that the channel is affected by noise, and the channel estimation value and signal conjugate multiplication produce a noise quadratic term. At this point, the estimated value of the coherent region channel is reduced by the influence of noise, and the signal-to-noise ratio loss caused by the noise quadratic term is reduced, so the processing gain increases. During the process of infinite increase in signal bandwidth, the input signal-to-noise power ratio of the receiver tends to decrease towards an infinite value, limited by the size of the coherent region. The channel estimation value increases under the influence of noise, and the noise quadratic term is the main factor affecting the output noise power. When the symbol length is greater than the coherent time, the smaller the maximum Doppler frequency shift and the larger the coherent detection area, the greater the processing gain.

Abstract:The realistic false targets caused by interrupted sampling repeater jamming (ISRJ) can mask the real target, leading to the failure of radar target detection. In this letter, a method based on jointly designing complementary sequences and receiving filters under the signal-to-noise ratio loss constraint is proposed to suppress ISRJ. A gradient-based nonlinear programming solver and the Lagrange multiplier method are used to optimize the sequences and filters alternately. Numerical results show that the proposed method can generate sequences and receiving filters with good correlation properties and anti-ISRJ performance.
