Abstract:【Objective】 To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravenous sufentanil for sedation and analgesia in patients with atrialfibrillation during radiofrequency catheter ablation.【Methods】 Sixty ASA class Ⅰor Ⅱpatients referred for radiofrequency catheter ablation were randomly divided into two groups with 30 patients each: sufentanil group(group S) and fentanil group(group F).Ten minutes before operation,0.05mg/kg bolus of midazolam was given slowly over 1 minute as an initial dosage.Five minutes before operation, sufentanil was given at a loading dose of 0.1?g/kg and followed by continuous infusion of 0.1μg/kg·h in group S,and fentanil a loading dose of 1?g/kg followed by continuous infusion of 1μg/kg·h with a syringe pump in group F.If the patients felt pain, the maintenance dose of fentanyl increased to 2μg/kg·h and that of sufentanyl increased to 2μg/(kg·h).Another 1mg midazolam was added if the pain was not relieved.【Results】 The patients of OAA/S at grad 2 were more in group S than those in group F at T2 and T3(P <0.05).The VAS scores were significantly lower in group S than those in group F(P <0.05).The total amount of midazolam and opioid in group S was lower than that in group F(P <0.05).Respiratory depression occurred was mild in intensity in group S and group F,and there were no significant differences in adverse effects in all groups.【Conclusion】 Sufentanil is effective and safe for sedation and analgesia during radiofrequency catheter ablation.
