Abstract:This paper summarizes the latest research and development(R&D) on unsaturated ceramic metal halide lamps(CMHs),mercury-free CMHs,ceramic arc tubes,driver and control,measurement and diagnostics,and theoretical models on CMHs.The R&D progress of domestic CMHs is introduced.It is pointed out that the manufacture of unsaturated and mercury-free CMHs is the future direction.

Abstract:Halide perovskite and perovskite-like materials have emerged as very promising optoelectronic materials in the field of X-ray detection, including both direct methods and indirect methods. Due to their remarkable performances, such as strong X-ray stopping capacity and cost-effective manufacturing, the research advances of perovskite X-ray detection have achieved significant progress and attracted lots of attention worldwide. Meanwhile, perovskite based X-ray imaging systems have been successfully demonstrated as well. In this review, we will firstly introduce some fundamental principles of X-ray detection and imaging, summarize the advances of X-ray detection and imaging based on novel metal halide semiconductors and scintillators, and finally put forward some issues and outlooks.
Research and Development of Low Wattage Ceramic Metal Halide Lamps

Abstract:This paper introduces the key technologies of low wattage ceramic metal halide lamps(CMHs),which include sovling the matched-sealing of Nb and the ceramic capillary with Dy2O3-Al2O3-SiO2 frit system,controlling frit leakage and corrosion,solving the ignition problem with radioactive gas 85Kr filling in the arc tubes.In order to optimize the parameters of CMHs,some diagnostic methods were used,such as X-ray transmission,infrared imaging,X-ray tomography,and scanning electron microscope.The CMHs with power of 20,35,70 and 150W have been put into mass production,whose parameters are better than those in the national standard.The CMHs with 70W power and 3,000K color temperature have luminous efficacy 89 lm/W,color rendering 92,lumen maintenance 82% at 8,000h.

Abstract:Metal halide perovskites, which have aroused the enormous interest from scientists recently, are widely used in a variety of areas such as solar cells, light emitting diodes (LED) and lasers. Nanomaterials exhibit distinguished optical and electrical properties because of their quantum confinement as well as strong anisotropy. The metal halide perovskite nanomaterials have the advantages of adjustable band gap, high quantum efficiency, strong photoluminescence, quantum confinement and long carrier-lifetime. Besides, as a result of the low-cost fabrication and the sufficient raw material reserve, they have a broad prospect in photoelectric applications. But on the other hand, the poor stability of metal halide perovskites, due to the defect trap states and grain boundaries on the surface, cast a shadow towards their practical applications. The moisture, oxygen and ultraviolet of the environment will degrade their photoelectric performances significantly. In this review, we introduce the synthesis and growth mechanism of metal perovskite nanomaterial quantum dots, nanowires and nanoplatelets, and present their novel photoelectric properties and applications in various photoelectric devices. Finally we summarize the emerging challenges and discuss the next-generation photoelectric applications.

Abstract:Metal-halide perovskites have garnered considerable research attention as highly efficient light emitters in recent years due to their outstanding optoelectronic properties with remarkable tunability and excellent solution processabilities. Substantial advancements have been achieved in the development of novel halide perovskites, and the exploitations of these materials in light-emitting devices. This review comprehensively outlines recent breakthroughs in metal-halide perovskites, encompassing the rational design of perovskite materials with tunable light emission properties, the controllable growth of single crystal for a deeper understanding of their structure–property relationships, as well as the fundamental insights into the photophysics and carrier dynamics in perovskite systems. Additionally, it provides an overview of recent applications of perovskite materials in high-performance light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and lasers.

Abstract:The dimming characteristics are investigated experimentally for small and medium wattage(70W,150W) ceramic metal halide(CMH) lamps.The effects of dimming spectral distribution on luminous flux,CRI and CCT are discussed in detail.The results show that dimming has limited negative effects on CMH′s luminous efficacy,CRI,CCT at 60% dimming depth.Therefore it is feasible to dim small wattage CMH.

Abstract:Abstract Luminescent metal halides, as a type of luminescent semiconductor material, offer advantages that fulfill the requirements of emerging light source devices, such as high luminescence efficiency, good thermal stability, and tunable colorful emission. Blue light being one of the three primary colors plays a crucial role in the field of lighting and colorful displays. However, the progress in device performance of blue‐light materials lags behind that of green and red‐light materials. Currently, there have been numerous reports on metal halide perovskite blue‐light materials, but a comprehensive review on the development and performance control of blue‐light metal halides is yet to be found. This paper provides a comprehensive summary of the design strategies and luminescence mechanisms of blue‐light perovskites with various luminescence centers, as well as their application progress in the fields of light‐emitting diodes (LEDs), X‐ray scintillators, information anti‐counterfeiting and encryption. It also explores possible directions for subsequent performance improvement. This work aims to offer valuable insights and recommendations for the future development of blue‐light metal halides, with significant implications for the fabrication of novel blue light devices and advancements in detection technology.

Abstract:Traditional optical lenses and optical systems implement electromagnetic wave control based on the light propagation effect. So they usually suffer from the bulky size. Recently, metasurfaces comprised of artificial subwavelength structures have been widely studied, since they take great advantages of their sub-wavelength thickness and provide arbitrary control of electromagnetic waves. Here, the electromagnetic wave control mechanism is introduced. Then, we analyze the monochromatic aberrations and chromatic aberrations of the metalens and the corresponding image quality evaluation methods. Also, we discuss the research progress and applications of metalens for imaging. The exist problems and future goals are pointed out at the end of the review. Based on the advantages of portability and a high degree of design freedom, metalens are expected to replace the traditional imaging devices in many applications. High efficiency, large field of view, broadband, reconfigurable and tunable imaging devices based on metasurfaces will help in important future development directions.

Abstract:Metal halide perovskites have drawn significant interest in the past decade. Superior optoelectronic properties, such as a narrow bandwidth, precise and facile tunable luminance over the entire visible spectrum, and high photoluminescence quantum yield of up to ≈100%, render metal halide perovskites suitable for next-generation high-definition displays and healthy lighting systems. The external quantum efficiency of perovskite light-emitting diodes (LEDs) increases from 0.1 to 11.7% in three years; however, the energy conversion efficiency and the long-term stability of perovskite LEDs are inadequate for practical application. Strategies to optimize the emitting layer and the device structure, with respect to material design, synthesis, surface passivation, and device optimization, are reviewed and highlighted. The long-term stability of perovskite LEDs is evaluated as well. Meanwhile, several challenges and prospects for future development of perovskite materials and LEDs are identified.

Abstract:With the development of solid-state lighting technology, efficient light sources that combine high brightness, wide range, and good stability are in high demand for next-generation lighting and displays. Metal halides are emerging as promising luminescent materials due to their versatility for desirable light emission manipulations. This is because the optical activity of the metal halide material depends on the metal halide structural unit and the organic ions or coordinated organic ligands. The different assembly of metal halide units and organic parts can enable versatile light emissions, such as lead halide perovskites (LHPs) and copper halide–organic hybrids. Impressively, the external quantum efficiency of the LHP based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) has improved significantly from 0.1% to over 20% in just five years. With this great progress, the structural lability and toxicity of the LHPs are now the critical issues that need to be addressed for practical applications. These issues are mainly rooted in the intrinsic lead composition and low formation energy crystal structure of the widely adopted LHPs. Thus, the modulation of the structure and composition of the basic metal halide structural units is considered a rational strategy to address these issues.In this Account, we will present a general material design using metal halide structural units as basic building blocks to build up metal halide luminescent materials for solid-state lighting devices. Following this route, we will emphasize the modulation of metal halide structural units to tackle the existing challenges in lead halides, including the instability of crystalline structure, ion migration, and the presence of toxic lead. Considering basic components in structural units, we will highlight ionic engineering in LHPs via ion doping, substitution, and modification to enhance the crystal structural stability and suppress ion migration. To replace toxic lead, we will introduce recent advances in the modulation of lead-free halide structural units by active ion doping and organic ligand coordination to fabricate highly luminescent materials. Finally, we will present future strategies of metal halide structural unit modulation for solid-state light emissions. We hope this Account will provide new insights for designing metal halide materials from the viewpoint of the modulation of the basic building blocks and inspire future studies of advanced metal halide materials for solid-state light emitting applications.This article has not yet been cited by other publications.

Abstract:Metal halide perovskites, both lead‐based and lead‐free variants, have emerged as highly versatile materials with widespread applications across various fields, including photovoltaics, optoelectronics, and photocatalysis. This review provides a succinct overview of the recent advancements in the utilization of lead and lead‐free halide perovskites specifically in photocatalysis. We explore the diverse range of photocatalytic reactions enabled by metal halide perovskites, including organic transformations, carbon dioxide reduction, and pollutant degradation. We highlight key developments, mechanistic insights, and challenges in the field, offering our perspectives on the future research directions and potential applications. Abstract:Zero-dimensional (0D) all-inorganic/organic-inorganic metal halides, as emerging luminescent materials, have attracted unparalleled interest from versatile perspectives due to their unique crystallographic/electronic structures with isolated building units and fascinating optical characteristics. However, significant challenges still exist for 0D metal halides, including their chemical molecular design, photoluminescence (PL) mechanism, PL modification and applications. In this review, we summarize the 0D metal halides through the classification of all-inorganic and organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides, and further emphasize the unique role of B-site cations with different electronic configurations in the PL process. Furthermore, the PL mechanisms focusing on the self-trapped excitons (STEs) model and PL regulation engineering are examined to explore their extraordinary PL properties and further reveal new application prospects. This review aims to provide in-depth insight into the structure-luminescence-application relationship of 0D metal halides and pave the way for the realization of next-generation high-performance luminescent materials.

Abstract:Metal halide perovskites have emerged as a new family of semiconducting materials in the applications of highly efficient light-emitting diodes (LEDs). However, the efficient and stable metal halide perovskite LED could be achieved only if the low photoluminescent (PL) efficiency and instability issues of metal halide perovskite materials are addressed. In order to increase the exciton binding energy of the metal halide perovskite as an emitting layer in the LED, the fabrication of nano-sized perovskite is an effective way, which can increase the exciton binding energy by reducing the size or dimension, thus increasing photoluminescent efficiency. Though the perovskite-based LEDs in the green and red light spectral range have demonstrated high brightness and good efficiency, the highest external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) of which are even exceeding 20%, their stability still cannot satisfy the requirements of practical applications. More importantly, the performance of blue metal halide perovskite LED is still limited by the low light emission efficiency of present metal halide perovskites. Therefore, the fabrication of highly efficient and stable perovskite LEDs, especially the blue perovskite LED, is the most challenging issue for realizing the practical application of perovskite LEDs. In this review, we have summarized the strategies to synthesize the perovskite emitter layers and reviewed the research progress of metal halide perovskite LEDs. We also discussed the causes of instability of metal halide perovskite LED, and finally we present insight toward future research directions and an outlook to further improve EQEs and stabilities of perovskite LEDs aiming to practical applications.

Abstract:<p>Solar cells based on organometal halide perovskites attract increasing research interest as an excellent source of renewable energy due to their inexpensive process, high power conversion efficiency, and availability of abundant raw material. The basic description, current research targets and status, and future perceptions of perovskite-based photovoltaics along with the strategies toward the enhancement of both (intrinsic and extrinsic) stabilities of high-efficiency devices are summarized and analyzed. This review provides the required knowledge for this design by studying various commercialized thin-film technologies, analyzing large-scale fabrication methods like physical vapor deposition, chemical vapor deposition, inkjet printing, doctor blading, spray coating, and roll-to-roll techniques. Addressing the present threat and opportunities for integrating the new material exploration, devices and large-scale fabrication is conductive to the successful commercialization of the perovskite solar cells (PVSCs). This article presents the overview of the reports of the latest technological enhancement of cell stability, interfacial modification, replacement of electron and hole transport layers, techniques used for minimizing the lead-based perovskites toxicity, and large-scale fabrication. Finally, this provides an emphasis on organometal halide perovskite-based solid-state solar cell contacts that are believed to be the key factor for achieving highly stable PVSCs.</p>
