Abstract:This paper presents a remote interactive exhibition method, which provides users with a way to visit remote high-resolution exhibitions of real artefacts. During the visit, users can control exposure, rotation and zooming parameters of a camera to adjust display conditions. Our method avoids complex modelling or scanning tasks and has no limitation on view angles. The method has been applied in the “University Digital Museum IPv6 upgrade Project” which funded by the MOE (Ministry of Education) of China.

Abstract:Museum exhibitions, both temporary and permanent, form an essential link between a society and its cultural, historical, and artistic heritage sites. Curating artifacts and thematic displays in museum exhibitions can promote dialogue, foster cultural appreciation, and contribute to heritage preservation. The traditional way of holding museum exhibitions, heavily reliant on the expertise of designers and curatorial staff, makes them a labor-intensive process, from conceptualization to visitor engagement analysis. This review systematically compiles and examines how the application of digital transformation technologies (DTTs) has revolutionized museum exhibitions and augmented their future potential. DTTs such as artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, additive manufacturing, the Internet of Things, and cloud computing can help create engaging designs, improve accessibility and inclusivity, enhance educational potential, and allow for sophisticated visitor experience data collection and analyses, improving exhibit management. However, despite multiple specialized studies on DTTs and their roles in museum exhibitions, the connections between technology and application scenarios remain underexplored. By addressing this gap, this study is expected to inform and inspire practitioners in the museum and heritage sectors and present new research avenues for scholars.

Abstract:There has been a considerable increase in the needs for implementation of multimedia representation technology into the museum field to develop online exhibitions and enhance museum educational functions. China Digital Science and Technology Museum (CDSTM) is such an emerging effort in this field. The purpose of CDSTM is to provide solutions to issues of unbalanced museum distribution, exhibition space limitation in China and seeking more ways to offer diverse and multimedia-rich exhibitions. This paper addresses the application of incorporating innovative and rapid digital technology in digital science and technology oriented museum development in China. Three modes of online exhibitions have been developed to emphasize user experiences through extensive application of animation and virtual reality technologies. CDSTM's e-learning functionality in promotion of scientific literacy in the public and enhancement of formal school science curriculum is also discussed. In addition, evaluation on users’ expectation and satisfaction is conducted to identify perception based on questionnaire and web logs. The feedbacks indicate that CDSTM has positive impacts on mitigating traditional science and technology museum challenges, and has the potential to promote science education and science literacy in public as well.

Abstract:Gangshan Wu Nanjing University Physical museums have long been one of the most important channels for presenting information and culture to the public. Museum visitors can directly browse the collections. However, this form of physical presentation has limitations, especially regarding the constraints of time, space, and interaction modes. With the aid of computer and other advanced information technologies, digital museums are becoming an effi cient, promising alternative. Briefl y, a digital museum consists of the digitization of the physical museum’s displays. The digitizing technologies include, but aren’t limited to, panoramic photography, videography, 3D scanning, model reconstruction, audio recording, and network transmission. So, users can browse all the collections anytime and anywhere via the Internet. With digital museums, the general public can see collections of rare cultural relics. More important, they can choose what they want to see. Also, digital museums facilitate worldwide comprehensive communication and academic research. When China bid to host the 2008 Olympics, we proposed a digital Olympic museum (DOM), which greatly appealed to the International Olympic Committee. After China won the bid, the central government funded a project to establish such a digital museum. The DOM is a large-scale distributed 3D virtual environment for demonstrating the Olympics’ history, culture, and highlights. It employs distributed VR technology to introduce the Olympics’ history and its important role in the diverse Chinese culture. Currently, the DOM resides on a LAN at our lab; we plan to eventually implement it on the Internet.

Abstract:Introduction: Museums use digital resources to provide online services to the public, and a "digital museuming" boom has started. The mechanism of online museum visiting and its impact on willingness to visit on site has become an important issue of widespread concern. Therefore, based on the theory of presence and cognitive-emotional-behavioral theory, this paper introduces perceived value and cultural identity as mediating variables to explore the influence of the digital museuming experience on the willingness to visit on site from the audience's perspective. Method: Questionnaires were distributed, using the snowball sampling method, and 429 valid questionnaires were returned. Results: The empirical test presents the following results: (1) virtual reality technology multi-dimensionally expands the digital museuming experience; (2) immersion, interaction and available experience promote willingness to visit on-site; (3) hedonic experience in the process of digital museuming cannot be ignored; and (4) perceived value and cultural identity play a mediating role. Discussion: User experience of visiting virtual museums, perceived value and cultural identity influence user willingness to visit museums in the field, but perceived value does not enhance the user's cultural identity, maybe due to the inability of the online experience to increase the depth of the experience.

Abstract:The rapid development of information technology and the continuous improvement of human spiritual and cultural level have made people's acquisition of knowledge and information increasingly urgent. The information transmission method of traditional navigation systems is single and passive. This study aims to improve user experience and enhance the interactivity of museum visits. This article combines interactive technology in the Internet of Things to conduct in-depth research on the tour guide system in museums. By utilizing IoT technology, optimize the interaction design of the intelligent navigation system, and enhance the convenience and experience of visitors. In the experimental analysis, this article compared the main ticket purchasing methods of tourists, the level of understanding of museum staff about the collection, the amount of information obtained by tourists, and the satisfaction of tourists. The comparison results show that the proportion of electronic ticket purchases has increased by 35 % in terms of ticket purchasing methods. The staff's understanding of the collection has increased by 19 %, the amount of information received by tourists has increased by 12.7 %, and tourist satisfaction has also increased by 24.3 %. The conclusion indicates that the interactive design navigation system based on intelligent Internet of Things and interactive design can effectively meet the needs of different users and provide the public with a richer and deeper cultural experience.

Abstract:This research aims to explore the means by which digital art presented in online museum exhibitions will contribute to an improved visitor experience of the museum exhibition. Theoretical and practical research methods are used, namely, analysis of scientific and professional literature on the impact of digital culture on museum exhibits, analysis of design analogs of online museums. Based on the research analysis, the influence of digital culture on art museums was established, which allowed them to go beyond physical spaces, display digital art and implement virtual reality technologies. The cases of the Museum of Modern Art, TATE, the Victoria and Albert Museum, as well as China's Palace Museum and Shaanxi History Museum have demonstrated the significant benefits of integrating digital culture into the art world. The use of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) in digital museum exhibitions was analyzed. It is substantiated that the impact of digital culture on art museums is evidence of the importance of digital technologies in the design of online museums. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the design principles of digital art exhibitions of online museums have been further developed in the work, which allows them to reach a wider audience of visitors and improve the aesthetic perception of museum expositions by viewers. The results of the study can be used in their introduction into the modern practice of designing museum.

Abstract:As science and technology advance, museums of intangible cultural heritage have made significant investments in network and digital development. As a new art form, digital interactive artworks have gradually emerged. To realize the innovative development of intangible cultural heritage museums, literary and art workers need to make full use of the background of the meta-universe and related technologies to create museums empowered by new technologies, and use new technologies to help the construction of digital cultural relics and interactive exhibition halls. This paper mainly analyzes the characteristics of digital interactive art within the framework of meta-universe, from the development status of digital museums and the technical means of digitally empowering intangible cultural heritage museums. Through case analysis, this paper discusses the advantages of digital museums in display form and interaction. Finally, in the application of digital interactive technology, the author puts forward the strategy of building an interactive learning platform of 'entertaining and entertaining', creating a museum characteristic IP empowered by new technology, and constructing an immersive narrative scene of virtual and real symbiosis. Abstract:In recent years,multimedia technology has been widely used in museums.How to reasonably plan the use of multimedia technology,give full play to its advantages and make it better meet the needs of the audience is an important issue that museums must consider.Under the concept of "people-oriented",this paper analyzes the visitors’ intention to use multimedia technology and its influencing factors from the perspective of the visitors.Based on the technology acceptance model and considering the differences in technical readiness of different audiences,this paper collected 302samples by questionnaire for empirical analysis.The results show that there are differences in the TRI of visitors with different genders,ages and regions.The positive perception,perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of technology will affect the intention to use multimedia technology.Based on the research results,the museum should pay attention to the differentiated needs of the audience,guide the audience to understand and recognize the characteristics and advantages of information technology exhibition means,stimulate the audience’s willingness to use,and pay attention to the ease of use and usefulness design of multimedia devices,so as to promote the reasonable application of multimedia technology.

Abstract:After decades of digital tide washing the world, even one of the most sacred existences in human life, art, has to go through evolution and make some adaptions. The materials used in artists' creations, the artworks' presence in time and space as objects, and the economic properties of art have all been changed drastically as a response to the rapidly growing cybernetic world. An increasing number of digital artworks show up on the internet every day, whether they are the documentation of physical artworks in the real world or completely digital pieces that only live in the cybernetic world. Accordingly, the relationship between the online audience and digital works has completely changed their interactions. Museum professionals, public audiences, educators, and so many other roles in the art-viewing activity are having mixed opinions about dealing with art in virtual spaces. They need a more accurate understanding of the meaning and value of the artworks they are viewing. Therefore, how to apply digital media technology to facilitate a better creative experience between viewers and digital physical artworks will be a very important and challenging issue. This paper firstly explains the definition and development history of digital museum exhibition; secondly analyzes the current research status of digital museum exhibition technology and its application areas at home and abroad; then discusses the factors affecting the audience's viewing behavior from the user's perspective, namely: human psychological factors (including cognitive factors, emotional factors, motivation), environmental factors (including social and cultural factors, natural environmental factors); finally The construction method of the virtual exhibition system based on the concept of interaction design is discussed in combination with the above two aspects, and the model can effectively improve the audience's visiting experience through examples.

Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation of museums, and online virtual tours have become an important development direction for the cultural inheritance of museums in the present and future. Therefore, there is an urgent need for appropriate digital museum spaces to attract virtual tours of visitors. Firstly, the paper introduces the current situation of the digital transformation of museums around the world under the background of the COVID-19 pandemic and analyzes the challenges of digital museums in supporting virtual tours. Secondly, aiming at these challenges, we design a cloud editing digital museum architecture and develop a cloud editing digital museum system based on the requirement survey. Finally, the paper introduces the application cases and effects of the cloud editing digital museum system, such as the Zhejiang University History Museum and the China National Silk Museum, and analyzes them with the SWOT method. The SWOT analysis shows that the cloud editing digital museum has advantages in the virtual tour, such as the rapid construction of virtual museums, cost savings, update and maintenance, gamification experience, multiterminal support, immersion and fun, and maintaining visitors' loyalty. It can provide a reference for museums' digital transformation research and cultural inheritance applications.

Abstract:More and more museums are being established or restored as people's cultural levels grow. A digital twin is a computerized representation of the physical object or phenomenon, which acts as its real-time digital equivalent. Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly widespread, and museums and art shows will need to change their old working and thinking processes to fully fulfill their potential. In an increasingly digital world, combining AI technologies and wearable devices into digital museums could assist in boosting involvement. It is necessary to investigate AI's strategic function and application in affecting tourist experiences at art galleries and museums, as well as its potential to improve education. Also, digital twin (DT) paves the way to alleviate difficulties or might improve access to digital museums via digital experiences. The historical report recommends that digital museum items be represented in a way that poses the fewest threats to its legitimacy. Owing to its uniqueness and vulnerability to substantial environmental dangers, the safeguarding of art and cultural heritage in digital museums is a serious issue. There are many approaches for assessing the state of artistic heritage and protecting it from extreme acts. The current study offers a framework for digitized museum art design based on the utilization of digital twin (DT), artificial intelligence (AI), and fifth-generation (5G) technologies. Further to enhance the security of the system, we employ the improved blowfish encryption algorithm (IBEA). Also, the authentication is done using the Diffie-Hellman protocol. The proposed system is simulated using MATLAB, and its performance is analyzed and compared with conventional systems. From the result obtained, it was revealed that the suggested methodology express high range of security level (95%) than the existing mechanisms. This study is very important in two directions: (1) it presents an analytical structure for having to adapt digital information to complicated systems in museums and (2) it explains the artistic obstacles for heritage properties, such as accessibility, execution time, security level, and the efficiency of 3-dimensional designs.
