Study on Spatial and Temporal Characteristics and Driving Forces of the Cultivated Land Change in the Southern Part of Yunnan Province

Abstract:The purpose of the paper is to reveal the rules of LUCC in southern Yunnan and the driving forces of spatial pattern change of cultivated land from 1980s to 1990s.ArcGIS was used to overlay the land use maps of the study area at different time periods and correlate spatially with relevant land cover change maps.SPSS software was applied to carry out correlation analysis of the influence factors of cultivated land change.The results indicate that the LUCC in the study area was dominated by the conversion between forestland and grassland,forestland-grassland and cultivated land.There were obvious spatial and temporal differences in the distribution pattern of cultivated land,which changed by elevation and slope.It is concluded the LUCC of southern Yunnan was influenced by natural,social and economic factors.The major factors were associated with policy,population and economic development,which reflected from one side the importance of strengthening the land administration of the area.
