Abstract:Aflatoxins are mutagenic and carcinogenic. Even if people eat it at tract level, people’s health will be harmed for a long time. The foodstuffs would be contaminated by aflatoxins during growing and storing periods. Due to the high toxicity, sensitive determination techniques for analyzing the aflatoxins of different samples are developed. Each technique has some advantages and disadvantages and not all of them can test at limited level. This review aims to summarize the different health effects of aflatoxins for people, the develop-ment of analytical techniques and special discussion about the applications of developed techniques in a variety of matrices.

Abstract:Aflatoxin is a kind of toxic and carcinogen compound,which polluted rice and products.It is serious harmfulness to the health of experimenter,human being and animal.Aflatoxin B_(2a) is a kind of the aflatoxin.This essay summarized the toxicity and biological activity of AFB_(2a) and reactivity of antibody.As the toxicity of AFB_(2a) was lower than AFB_1,and the antibody can act on AFB_1,AFB_1-DNA adducts and related metabolites,so the broad specincity AFB_(2a) antibody might be of considerable value in the detection of AFB_1-DNA adducts or related metabolites,prevent tumor?discarding toxic of rice and it's products and the prophase diagnose of aflatoxicosis.But the reporting about AFB_(2a) Monoclonal antibody was absence in China.

Abstract:Food contamination with aflatoxins is the focus of current concern. The i ntermittent incidence of these toxins in agricultural commodities has negative effects on the economy of the affected regions where harvest and postharvest techniques for the prevention of mold growth are seldom practiced. Aflatoxins are highly hepatotoxic, hepatocarcinogenic,teratogenic, and mutagenic in nature and they contaminate a wide variety of important agricultural commodities, such as peanuts, maize, rice and cottonseed, before, during and after harvest in various environmental conditions/settings. The biosynthesis of aflatoxins in nature depends upon the various factors such as carbon, nitrogen, temperature, water activity,pH, developmental stages, oxidative stress, and plant metabolites. These toxins can cause several ailments and can be controlled by blocking and interfering with the absorption and disturbing the metabolic enzymes. The present article overviews the biosynthesis, infection, transport, metabolism and toxicity of aflatoxins. Detailed studies on their biosynthesis,mechanism of toxicity, structure-function relationship, metabolism and transport will provide deep insight into the technology involved in the development of an effective control measures for aflatoxins.

Abstract:Due to the structural similarity with sphinganine,sphinganine analogue mycotoxins（SAMT） fumonisin and AAL-Toxin execute their toxicity through the competitive inhibition of sphinganine N-acyltransferase.In this paper,the structure,biosynthesis,and toxicology of SAMT as well as the detection methods of SAMT and SAMT-producing strains,and the contamination of SAMT in agriculture products in different areas were reviewed.The ways to control the contamination of SAMT in agriculture products were also suggested.

Abstract:Aflatoxins are the secondary metabolites of Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus and are highly toxic and carcinogenic, teratogenic and mutagenic. Ingestion of crops and food contaminated by aflatoxins causes extremely serious harm to human and animal health. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a selective, sensitive and simple method for the determination of aflatoxins. Due to their high performance and multipurpose characteristics, nanomaterials have been developed and applied to the monitoring of various targets, overcoming the limitations of traditional methods, which include process complexity, time-consuming and laborious methodologies and the need for expensive instruments. At the same time, nanomaterials provide general promise for the detection of aflatoxins with high sensitivity, selectivity and simplicity. This review provides an overview of recent developments in nanomaterials employed for the detection of aflatoxins. The basic aspects of aflatoxin toxicity and the significance of aflatoxin detection are also reviewed. In addition, the development of different biosensors and nanomaterials for aflatoxin detection is introduced. The current capabilities and limitations and future challenges in aflatoxin detection and analysis are also addressed.

Abstract:Aflatoxins have posed serious threat to food safety and human health. Therefore, it is important to detect aflatoxins in samples rapidly and accurately. In this review, various technologies to detect aflatoxins in food are discussed, including conventional ones such as thin-layer chromatography (TLC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), colloidal gold immunochromatographic assay (GICA), radioimmunoassay (RIA), fluorescence spectroscopy (FS), as well as emerging ones (e.g., biosensors, molecular imprinting technology, surface plasmon resonance). Critical challenges of these technologies include high cost, complex processing procedures and long processing time, low stability, low repeatability, low accuracy, poor portability, and so on. Critical discussion is provided on the trade-off relationship between detection speed and detection accuracy, as well as the application scenario and sustainability of different technologies. Especially, the prospect of combining different technologies is discussed. Future research is necessary to develop more convenient, more accurate, faster, and cost-effective technologies to detect aflatoxins.

Abstract:<h2>Abstract</h2><p>Aflatoxin B1(AFB1) is one of the most toxic mycotoxins produced by fungi and results in inevitable contamination of food and feed at very low concentrations. Therefore, there is an urgent need to implement selective, sensitive and highly convenient methods for the determination of aflatoxin B1. Among these methods, the progress of nanomaterials, owing to their high performances and versatile properties, offers great prospects for realizing highly sensitive, selective and simple detection of AFB1, overcoming the restrictions of traditional methods such as process-complicated, time-consuming, labor-intensive and instruments-expensive. Many nanomaterials have been used for the immobilization of biomolecules as signal generators or fluorescent quenchers or for signal amplification in AFB1 detection. This review highlights recent progress that has been made in the development of nanoparticle-based assays and focuses on the analytical potential of nanomaterials, such as Au/Ag nanoparticles (Au/Ag NPs), carbon-based nanoparticles (CBNs), magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), Quantum dots (QDs) and novel nanomaterials, including up-conversion nanoparticles (UCNPs), metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and nanomaterial-functional DNA intelligent hydrogels, as well as hybrid nanostructures. The determination of AFB1 is divided into three aspects: sample pretreatment prior to AFB1 detection, immunoassays and biosensors. Abstract:Aflatoxin B1 is highly toxic, mutagenic, teratogenic, and carcinogenic and is a class I carcinogen. Peanuts, cotton, and corn may be affected by AFB1 during cultivation, which can seriously jeopardize human health. Developing a simple, sensitive, and selective method for detecting AFB1 is imminent. Aptamers are obtained through in vitro screening of ligands by single-stranded oligonucleotides (DNA or RNA) through exponential enrichment (SELEX) technology. As emerging highly selective recognition molecules, they have the advantages of strong affinity, good stability, and strong specificity. Because it does not have the function of signal conversion, it cannot produce physicochemical signals that can be detected in the process of specific binding with target molecules, so it is necessary to convert the process of specific binding of aptamers to target molecules into a process of easily detectable physicochemical signal changes. According to different conversion methods, aptamer biosensors are divided into electrochemical aptamer sensors, fluorescent aptamer sensors, colorimetric aptamer sensors, surface Raman-enhanced aptamer sensors, and so on. Herein, the recent progress and application of aflatoxin B1 detection by nucleic acid aptamer biosensors based on the above signals are reviewed, and the future development prospects and challenges of this kind of biosensor are summarized.

Several institutions around the world have established regulations to limit the levels of aflatoxins in food, and numerous analytical methods have been extensively developed for aflatoxin determination. This review covers the currently used analytical methods for the determination of aflatoxins in different food matrices, which includes sampling and sample preparation, sample pretreatment methods including extraction methods and purification methods of aflatoxin extracts, separation and determination methods. Validation for analysis of aflatoxins and safety considerations and precautions when doing the experiments are also discussed.

Abstract:Fungal contamination of animal feed can severely affect the health of farm animals, and result in considerable economic losses. Certain filamentous fungi or molds produce toxic secondary metabolites known as mycotoxins, of which aflatoxins (AFTs) are considered the most critical dietary risk factor for both humans and animals. AFTs are ubiquitous in the environment, soil, and food crops, and aflatoxin B1(AFB1) has been identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the most potent natural group 1A carcinogen. We reviewed the literature on the toxic effects of AFB1 in humans and animals along with its toxicokinetic properties. The damage induced by AFB1 in cells and tissues is mainly achieved through cell cycle arrest and inhibition of cell proliferation, and the induction of apoptosis, oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and autophagy. In addition, numerous coding genes and non-coding RNAs have been identified that regulate AFB1 toxicity. This review is a summary of the current research on the complexity of AFB1 toxicity, and provides insights into the molecular mechanisms as well as the phenotypic characteristics.

Abstract:Aflatoxins (AFs) are a class of carcinogens, associated with liver cancers, that exist in foodstuffs. There are extremely low maximum limits of AFs in foodstuffs (0.025-20 μg·kg-1). Quick and sensitive detection of such low concentration of AFs in foodstuffs is dominated by the efficiency and selectivity of the AF enrichment process, which is extremely challenging although substantial efforts have been made in recent decades. Here we design and synthesize a multilayer nanoarchitecture composed of a broad-spectrum aflatoxin monoclonal antibody shell, chitosan middle layer, and magnetic bead core (denoted AF-mAb/CTS/Fe3O4). The efficiency of AF-mAb/CTS/Fe3O4 in extracting AFs has been found to be more than 60 times higher than both conventional immunoaffinity chromatography and solid-phase extraction. Furthermore, the nanocomposite displays excellent selectivity and good reusability as well as outstanding efficiency. When coupled to ultraperformance liquid chromatography-tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry, this new nanoarchitecture enables us to probe six AFs at concentrations as low as 0.003 μg·kg-1 in foodstuffs with free matrix effects, which is nearly 10 times smaller than the regulated maximum tolerated does. It is believed that the new nanoarchitecture will provide an efficient and fast pathway to detect AFs in foodstuffs to protect human being from some critical liver cancers.

Abstract:ABSTRACT:Aflatoxins (AFT) had been evaluated as group I degree carcinogens because of their remarkable carcinogenicity on liver in humans and animals. Hence, there was an urgent need for the development of rapid analytical methods which could realize high-throughput and on-site test, to ensure the edible security of agro-products. The source, physicochemical properties, metabolism, toxicity, and action levels of AFT were reviewed in this paper. The rapid analytical methods based on different labels for AFT developed in recent years were systematically reviewed and their advantages and disadvantages were detailed summarized as well. In addition, some existing problems and future trends of rapid analytical methods for AFT were discussed. This review would be useful for the future development of more widely applicable rapid methods for AFT detection.

Abstract:Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), the most toxic and harmful mycotoxin, has a high likelihood of occurring in animal feed and human food, which seriously affects agriculture and food safety and endangers animal and human health. Recently, natural plant products have attracted widespread attention due to their low toxicity, high biocompatibility, and simple composition, indicating significant potential for resisting AFB1. The mechanisms by which these phytochemicals resist toxins mainly involve antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic pathways. Moreover, these substances also inhibit the genotoxicity of AFB1 by directly influencing its metabolism in vivo, which contributes to its elimination. Here, we review various phytochemicals that resist AFB1 and their anti-AFB1 mechanisms in different animals, as well as the common characteristics of phytochemicals with anti-AFB1 function. Additionally, the shortcomings of current research and future research directions will be discussed. Overall, this comprehensive summary contributes to the better application of phytochemicals in agriculture and food safety.

Abstract:Aflatoxins produced by the <i>Aspergillus</i> species are highly toxic, carcinogenic, and cause severe contamination to food sources, leading to serious health consequences. Contaminations by aflatoxins have been reported in food and feed, such as groundnuts, millet, sesame seeds, maize, wheat, rice, fig, spices and cocoa due to fungal infection during pre- and post-harvest conditions. Besides these food products, commercial products like peanut butter, cooking oil and cosmetics have also been reported to be contaminated by aflatoxins. Even a low concentration of aflatoxins is hazardous for human and livestock. The identification and quantification of aflatoxins in food and feed is a major challenge to guarantee food safety. Therefore, developing feasible, sensitive and robust analytical methods is paramount for the identification and quantification of aflatoxins present in low concentrations in food and feed. There are various chromatographic and sensor-based methods used for the detection of aflatoxins. The current review provides insight into the sources of contamination, occurrence, detection techniques, and masked mycotoxin, in addition to management strategies of aflatoxins to ensure food safety and security.

Abstract:Mycotoxin contamination has become a challenge in the field of food safety testing, given the increasing emphasis on food safety in recent years. Mycotoxins are widely distributed, in heavily polluted areas. Food contamination with these toxins is difficult to prevent and control. Mycotoxins, as are small-molecule toxic metabolites produced by several species belonging to the genera Aspergillus, Fusarium, and Penicillium growing in food. They are considered teratogenic, carcinogenic, and mutagenic to humans and animals. Food systems are often simultaneously contaminated with multiple mycotoxins. Due to the additive or synergistic toxicological effects caused by the co-existence of multiple mycotoxins, their individual detection requires reliable, accurate, and high-throughput techniques. Currently available, methods for the detection of multiple mycotoxins are mainly based on chromatography, spectroscopy (colorimetry, fluorescence, and surface-enhanced Raman scattering), and electrochemistry. This review provides a comprehensive overview of advances in the multiple detection methods of mycotoxins during the recent 5 years. The principles and features of these techniques are described. The practical applications and challenges associated with assays for multiple detection methods of mycotoxins are summarized. The potential for future development and application is discussed in an effort, to provide standards of references for further research.

Abstract:Background Aflatoxins are strong cancerogenic compounds predominantly produced by certain strains of the Aspergillus genus. Due to their extreme stability in different conditions, it is very difficult to remove them completely in human diet and animal feeds. In this way aflatoxins are triggering numerous healthy problems (such as liver cancer) and thus becoming a huge burden to the hygiene system and food industry worldwide. Scope and approach Therefore, seeking for an effective technique to degrade aflatoxins to a threshold level has been a “hot-topic” among researchers. Traditional methods to detoxify aflatoxins include physical and chemical treatments, such as an extrusion cooking process and ammoniation, respectively. Meanwhile a bio-degradation by microorganisms gains its popularity due to its friendliness to both environment and body health. Natural phytochemicals (plant extracts) which have great capability to remove aflatoxins without causing any damage on human and animals come out as an improvement. Key findings and conclusion However, a fully and systematically discussion of the methods of detoxification for aflatoxins is still not available. Therefore, in the present review we briefly enumerate several traditional strategies, update newly methods, particularly the potential use of natural phytochemicals, and discuss some mechanisms during the detoxification period, summarizing merits and demerits of these methods. We suggest that this important information and our humble opinions could help researchers to understand the degradation of methods for aflatoxins.

Abstract:Abstract Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by fungus. Many mycotoxin species are highly toxic and are frequently found in cereals and feedstuffs. So, powerful detection methods are vital and effective ways to prevent feed contamination. Traditional detection methods can no longer meet the needs of massive, real-time, simple, and fast mycotoxin monitoring. Rapid detection methods based on advanced material and sensor technology are the future trend. In this review, we highlight recent progress of mycotoxin rapid detection strategies in feedstuffs and foods, especially for simultaneous multiplex mycotoxin determination. Immunoassays, biosensors, and the prominent roles of nanomaterials are introduced. The principles of different types of recognition and signal transduction are explained, and the merits and pitfalls of these methods are compared. Furthermore, limitations and challenges of existing rapid sensing strategies and perspectives of future research are discussed.

Abstract:Aflatoxins are potent carcinogenic compounds, mainly produced by fungi species of the genus Aspergillus in the soil. Because of their stability, they are difficult to remove completely, even under extreme conditions. Aflatoxin contamination is one of the main causes of safety in peanuts, maize, wheat and other agricultural products. Aflatoxin contamination originates from the soil. Through the investigation of soil properties and soil microbial distribution, the sources of aflatoxin are identified, aflatoxin contamination is classified and analysed, and post-harvest crop detoxification and corresponding contamination prevention measures are identified. This includes the team's recent development of the biofungicide ARC-BBBE (Aflatoxin Rhizobia Couple-B. amyloliquefaciens, B. laterosporu, B. mucilaginosus, E. ludwiggi) for field application and nanomaterials for post-production detoxification of cereals and oilseed crops, providing an effective and feasible approach for the prevention and control of aflatoxin contamination. Finally, it is hoped that effective preventive and control measures can be applied to a large number of cereal and oilseed crops.
