Research and summary of MAC protocols in Ad hoc wireless networks

Abstract:Studies of MAC protocols in Ad hoc wireless networks are a relatively new field attracting more attention,these protocols are of importance since the wireless channel is different from wired channel,wireless channel is prone to some unique problems,such as hidden-terminal problem,the exposed-terminal problem,signal fading.Although some research is conducted on MAC protocols,the various issues involved have mostly been presented in isolation of each other.We,therefore,make an attempt to present a compre-hensive survey of major schemes,and,then,a classification of MAC protocols and their brief description are presented.In conclusion,a general direction for future work is presented.
