Abstract:In the isospin-invariant version IBM-3 of the boson model a mapping from the shell model gives a dependence of the IBM-3 hamiltonian on the boson number N and the isospin T. Similarly, in the neutron-proton version IBM-2, a dependence on the neutron and proton numbers Nν and Nπ may be found. Both versions contain a common IBM-1 subspace. Although IBM-2 does not incorporate isospin we use the approximate relation T = |Nν − Nπ| to compare the NT-dependence of the projected IBM-1 hamiltonians from the two versions.
Two-species Hard-Core Bosons on the Triangular Lattice: A Quantum Monte Carlo Study

Abstract:Using worm-type quantum Monte Carlo simulations, we investigate bosonic mixtures on the triangular lattice of two species of bosons, which interact via nearest-neighbour intraspecies ($V$) and onsite interspecies ($U$) repulsions. For the case of symmetric hopping amplitude ($t_A/V=t_B/V$) and $U/V=1$, we determine a rich ground-state phase diagram that contains double solid, double superfluid (2SF), supersolid (SS), solid-superfluid (Solid-SF) and counterflow supersolid (CSS) states. The SS, Solid-SF and CSS states exhibit spontaneous symmetry breaking among the three sublattices of the triangular lattice and between the two species, which leads to nonzero crystalline density wave order in each species. We furthermore show that the CSS and the SS states are present for $t_A/V \neq t_B/V$, and the latter even survives up to $t_A/V \rightarrow \infty$ or $t_B/V \rightarrow \infty$ limit. The effects induced by the variation of $U/V$ and by the imbalance of particle numbers of the two species are also explored.

Abstract:The isospin-invariant form IBM-3 of the interacting boson model has been used to study energies and electromagnetic properties of the isotopes of nickel, zinc, germanium and selenium in the first half of the 1p32, 0f52 and 1p12 shell. The hamiltonian and electromagnetic operators vary with boson number and isospin in a manner determined by a mapping into the shell-model based on seniority and reduced isospin.

Abstract:An extended version of the interacting boson model (IBM), encompassing two-particle–two-hole (2p-2h) excitations originating from below a valence shell and one-particle–one-hole (1p-1h) excitations extending to the upper next-nearest major shell, is developed to investigate cross-shell excitation effects in the transitional nucleus Mo98 . This extended IBM framework is utilized to reproduce experimentally observed properties such as low-lying positive-parity level energies, B(E2) values, and the electric quadrupole moment of the 21+ state, ρ2(E0,02+→0g+) , as well as the strength functions of the isoscalar giant monopole resonance (ISGMR) and the isoscalar giant quadrupole resonance (ISGQR) in Mo98 . It is shown that the extended consistent- Q IBM, incorporating configuration mixing of both 2p-2h excitations from below the valence shell and 1p-1h excitations to the upper next-nearest major shell, describes the low-lying structural properties and the ISGMR and ISGQR strength distributions of Mo98 quite well, with the ISGMR and the ISGQR strength distributions comparable to the results of the self-consistent quasiparticle random-phase approximation with Skyrme interactions. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevC.109.054306 ©2024 American Physical Society

Abstract:A simple Interacting Boson Model Hamiltonian involving only and terms is used to describe the Inversion of the β– and γ– bands in the rare earths. The model is used to describe this band inversion in the Hafnium isotopes. An interpretation of this simple Hamiltonian in terms of the dynamical groups U(5), SU(3) and O(6) is presented.

Abstract:Recent studies show that for systems with four identical fermions in the $j=9/2$ shell two special states, which have seniority $v=4$ and total spins I=4 and 6, are eigenstates of any two-body interaction. These states have good seniority for an arbitrary interaction. In this work an analytic proof is given to this peculiar occurrence of partial conservation of seniority which is the consequence of the special property of certain coefficients of fractional parentage. Further calculations did not reveal its existence in systems with other $n$ and/or $I$ for shells with $j\leq15/2$.

Abstract:Rotational $SU(3)$ algebraic symmetry continues to generate new results in the shell model (SM). Interestingly, it is possible to have multiple $SU(3)$ algebras for nucleons occupying an oscillator shell $\eta$. Several different aspects of the multiple $SU(3)$ algebras are investigated using shell model and also deformed shell model based on Hartree-Fock single particle states with nucleons in $sdg$ orbits giving four $SU(3)$ algebras. Results show that one of the $SU(3)$ algebra generates prolate shapes, one oblate shape and the other two also generate prolate shape but one of them gives quiet small quadrupole moments for low-lying levels. These are inferred by using the standard form for the electric quadrupole transition operator and using quadrupole moments and $B(E2)$ values in the ground $K=0^+$ band in three different examples. Multiple $SU(3)$ algebras extend to interacting boson model and using $sdg$IBM, the structure of the four $SU(3)$ algebras in this model are studied by coherent state analysis and asymptotic formulas for $E2$ matrix elements. The results from $sdg$IBM further support the conclusions from the $sdg$ shell model examples.

Abstract:Contour plots relating empirical data to predictions of the Interacting Boson Model (IBM-1) are given for each stable nucleus in the Z = 50–82 major shell. The two-parameter version known as the Extended Consistent-Q Formalism (ECQF) is used, allowing trends and anomalies to be seen which have implications not only for other IBM versions but also for other collective models. This method indicates smooth parameter trends in most nuclei, intruder and sub-shell effects at Z = 64, an isolated anomaly in the N = 102 isotones, and wide-ranging anomalies in the PtOs region.

Abstract:An interacting-boson-model-1 (IBM-1) Hamiltonian, derived from self-consistent mean-field calculations using a Skyrme energy density functional is employed for the study of energy spectra and $B(E2)$ transition strengths in the even-even $^{162-184}\mathrm{Hf}$ and $^{168-186}\mathrm{W}$. An intrinsic triaxial deformation, derived from fermionic proxy-SU(3) irreps, is incorporated into the IBM-1 potential energy curve, which is subsequently mapped to the fermionic one, in order to derive the parameters of the IBM-1 Hamiltonian. It is shown that the inclusion of the intrinsic triaxial deformation derived from the proxy-SU(3) irreps leads to a significantly improved agreement between the theoretical predictions and experimental data for the low-lying quadrupole bands in the examined isotopes, without the need of higher-order terms in the IBM-1 Hamiltonian. The calculated $B(E2)$ transition strengths are also improved, compared to the axially symmetric case. The recently suggested preponderance of triaxial deformation over extended regions of the nuclear chart is obtained as a by-product. Future potential improvements and extensions to this mapping approach are also discussed.

Abstract:A simple position operator is constructed from the degrees of freedom which occur in the Interacting Boson Model. This operator is used to compute the structure factor for the intrinsic states of nuclei described by the IBM. Fourier inversion leads to the probability distribution for the nuclear surface. From this a nuclear density profile, including mean surface position and skin thickness, can be constructed.

Abstract:The Su(3) limit intrinsic states in the interacting boson model (IBM) are given by the group theoretical method. A method to calculate the physical states from the intrinsic states is given. Using this method, the physical states of the SU(3) limit ground state band are given completely. Some preliminary results are also obtained for beta and gamma band states. The wavefunctions obtained are expressed in terms of the five building blocks of the IBM wave functions belonging to Sun, Zhang, and Feng. In the SU(3) limit it is found that the building block T+d, which represents three d bosons coupled to zero angular momentum, appears even in the ground state band wavefunctions. The wavefunctions have very interesting physical implications.

Abstract:β-decay properties of N=18-22,Z=10-14 nuclei are analyzed with a new shell-model Hamiltonian using the Gogny densitydependent interaction.The Gogny force which has been widely and successfully used in mean-field theory can provide reasonable two-body matrix elements for cross-shell calculations.The log f t values andβ-decay level schemes are systematically studied using the D1S-Gogny interaction and compared with the SDPF-M results and experimental data.It is shown that the new Hamiltonian provides reliable results forβ-decay along with subtle level schemes for this region.Shell-model calculations with Gogny interaction can lead to a successful description of nuclei in and around the N=20 island of inversion and supplements experiment where sufficient data are not available.

Abstract:We use the generator-coordinate method with realistic shell-model interactions to closely approximate full shell-model calculations of the matrix elements for the neutrinoless double-beta decay of $^{48}$Ca, $^{76}$Ge, and $^{82}$Se. We work in one major shell for the first isotope, in the $f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}$ space for the second and third, and finally in two major shells for all three. Our coordinates include not only the usual axial deformation parameter $\beta$, but also the triaxiality angle $\gamma$ and neutron-proton pairing amplitudes. In the smaller model spaces our matrix elements agree well with those of full shell-model diagonalization, suggesting that our Hamiltonian-based GCM captures most of the important valence-space correlations. In two major shells, where exact diagonalization is not currently possible, our matrix elements are only slightly different from those in a single shell.
