Abstract:Acetylenic stannanes (1) react with Cp2Zr(H)Cl (Cp=η5-C5H5) giving (Z)-α-stannylvinylzirconium complexes (2), which are trapped with sulfinyl chlorides (3) in THF at room temperature to afford (Z)-α-stannyl-1-alkenyl sulfoxides (4). The yields are 63–81%. The coupling of 4h with diphenyliodonium chloride in the presence of Pd(PPh3)4 and CuI afford (E)-α-phenyl unsaturated sulfoxide 5 in 75% yield.

Abstract:Transition metal-catalyzed hydrostannylation of alkynes is an atom-economic way towards valuable α-vinylstannanes. However, directing-group-free examples for the construction of α-adducts are rare and mostly undergo the M-Sn species insertion process. Here, we report an efficient cobalt-catalyzed highly α-selective hydrostannylation of terminal alkynes via M-H species, using readily available Bu3SnH and easily accessible as well as bench-stable ligand. The robust catalytic system, bearing good functional group tolerance and operational simplicity, provides the α-vinylstannanes in moderate to excellent yields with ⩾97:3 rr averagely. The efficiency of the reaction is investigated with turnover number (TON) up to 10,000 and turnover frequency (TOF) up to 144,000 h−1, respectively. The synthetic utility of the α-vinylstannanes is proved by further derivatizations towards the 1,1-disubstituted alkenes via Kosugi-Migita-Stille cross-coupling, conjugated alkene, α-vinyliodine, α-vinylazide, and allyl alcohol. Several control experiments, deuterium-labeling experiment and density functional theory (DFT) calculations are conducted to reveal the preliminary mechanism.

Abstract:An efficient stannylation process with N-tosylhydrazones or directly with carbonyl compounds has been developed. A series of functionalized benzyl- and alkyltributylstannanes can be synthesized in moderate to good yields under transition-metal-free conditions. Tandem transformations involving stannylation/Stille cross-coupling reaction have been carried out without purification of the benzyltributylstannane intermediates to afford a series of diarylmethane derivatives.

Abstract:A ligand-controlled cobalt-catalyzed regioselective hydroboration/cyclization of 1,6-enynes with HBPin was developed by switching the size of the coordinated side arm to afford alkenylboronates and alkylboronates, respectively. Gram-scale reactions could be easily conducted, which is beneficial for further derivatizations. A primary mechanism was proposed on the basis of substrate-controlled experiments and deuterium experiments.

Abstract:The visible-light-driven preparation of (hetero)aryl stannanes was carried out under both photocatalyst- and metal-free conditions via irradiation of arylazo sulfones in the presence of hexaalkyldistannanes. The reaction shows a high efficiency and a wide substrates scope. The resulting crude organotin derivatives can be directly employed in a Stille protocol.
