Application of SAP2000 in nonlinear static analysis

Abstract:This paper presents the principle and calculation procedures of the method in SAP2000n,while modifying some coefficients according to China code for seismic design.A steel frame structure is then analyzed and the result proves that the push-over method is effective in performance-based design since it can not only give a general as sessment of the structure with regard to many points such as the plastic hinge distribution,the inelastic displacement of stories,but also reveal the weak points of the structure under the action of earthquakes that seldomy occur.
