Study on 3D Texture Features of Corpus Callosum in Patients with Alzheimer Disease Based on MR Images

Abstract:Objective The aim of this study is to explore the 3D texture features of corpus callosum in magnetic resonance images from the patients with Alzheimer disease(AD).Methods 3D texture analysis was performed on 12 AD patients and 12 normal controls(NC).The 3D texture features extracted from gray level co-occurrence matrix were analyzed the significant differences between two groups and the correlations between features and Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) scores were tested.Results The results showed that texture features including energy,inverse difference moment,contrast,entropy,difference entropy and difference variance were significantly different between groups,and they were correlated with MMSE scores.Conclusion The microcosmic pathological changes in corpus callosum in AD patients could be reflected by 3D texture features and it may be helpful to AD diagnosis.
