The Long-term Outcome of Acetabulum Development Following Improved Colonna Operation

Abstract:Objective To observe change of the long-term development of acetabulum following improved colonna's procedure. Methods Acetabular index,CE angle,acetabuar head index and acetabular depth were carefully measured on roentgenograms of 120 developmental dysplasia of the hip cases over 5 years post-operation and 120 normal children whose age were similar to sick children as control group during following-up. Results There was no statistical significance of the above indexes between the children with improved colonna's procedure and those of normal control ones.The spherical socket acetabulum accounted for 72.67%.There were no pelvis deformation and cystoid variation in acetabula. Conclusion Modified improved colonna's procedure is no affect on acetabular growth.The key factors promoting acetabular development are concentric reduction of femoral head and capital head shape.
