Abstract:With an overall presentation of the academic achievements under the title of “Marx is back: the impor-tance of Marxist theory and Research for the critical communication studies today” in 2012, the British online journal, Triple C, asserts that the era of new Marxism has come. This paper introduces the theme of the Marxist communication studies, and then discusses Terry Eagleton’s comments and refutes about the biases against Marx and Marxism existing in mass media. It also analyzes Terry Eagleton’s achievements in the research from the fol-lowing aspects such as Marx and media, commodity and capital accumulation, Marx and the critique of ideology, Marx and the alternative media, the socialist media and social conflicts, etc. Given that the western media scholars have a strong interest to the study of Marx's works, worried about the capitalist media and capitalist society and longing for another possibility of the social development, it is of practical significance for us to fortify our convic-tion of“two inevitabilities”and further explore the guidance of Marxist theory to China’s communication studies.

Abstract:Karl Marx's social development theory consists of three parts: social holism,social criticism and social development theory.Marx holds that a society is an organic system made up of various components,so each subsystem,even each individual,should be approached from the holist perspective as each man is in essence "the sum total of social relations".His social criticism takes man's measure,or humanism,as criterion,sets man's liberalization and overall development as target,chooses alienation as theoretical framework,and crystallizes into the idea of man's practice as changing the world.Marx not only insisted on his social holism and social criticism,but convinced that the society is constantly evolving and developing.As a result,he devoted his whole life to the exploration of the motivation,law and realization method of social development.A proper understanding and application of Marx's social development theory is especially significant to the promotion of contemporary social evolution and transformation.

Abstract:Different from traditional theoretical paradigm in which 'communication' was regarded as a marginal and transitional category, this essay puts forward that 'communication' was a central topic in Marx's lifetime which have independent meaning and fundamental position in Marx's framework. Through re interpreting Marx's original text, the essay locates 'communication' as 'inter subjective objectively practice' which has integrated the disperse individual power into maximal join force and has transformed the isolated primitive history pattern into unified contemporary history pattern. The essay suggests that the contemporary location of 'communication' will not only be beneficial to connect Marxism and modern western philosophy, to endow Historical Materialism with contemporary content and form, but also provide new perspective to grasp world history and China's future development.

Abstract:Marx's state theory is not only an important component of historical materialism, but also a necessary part of his political thought. After long years of silence, Marxist state theory revived after WWII and developed anew in the era of globalization. Study of its main ideas, historic fate, further development and new agenda can confirm its explanatory power in the present day and promote its reconstruction and enrichment in the era of globalization. However, some questions in the intellectual structure of Marxism are still open to further study: for instance, the relations between civil society and the state and between the economic foundation and superstructure, the withering away of the state as the end of politics, human emancipation and its conditions, the economic and political forms of the transition from a capitalist to a communist society, and particularly the form of organizational system adopted by the dictatorship of the proletariat, and the ideology of the crucial link of the reproduction of social relations. At the same time, we need to learn from and integrate new social science theories and actively respond to the great changes in political organization and structure brought about by globalization, while actively participating in the great theoretical debates of today.

Abstract:In the 19th century,a worldwide transportation and communication revolution took place in the years from the late Industrial Revolution period to the time after the completion of the Industrial Revolution.In present words,it is the communication technology revolution.Such a revolution had the mass media and other information industry make a fantastic spurt,since then the world has gradually entered the era of intensive social interaction.The paper comprehensively elucidates Marx's and Engels' thoughts on the influence of communication technology revolution on the social structure.From their discussion about this revolution,it can be seen that eliminating space with time presents an infinite development trend.Therefore,such phenomena as grabbing the market and grabbing news will eventually become redundant when time completely overcome space.

Abstract:Abstract This paper explores the development status of Marxism on the Internet by collecting Chinese Internet information. A theoretical model of Marxism’s online communication effect in the new media era is constructed by using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, and all kinds of key factors affecting the effect of Marxism mass communication in the new media era are clarified. In response to the empirical research results, specific measures and strategies are proposed in five aspects, namely, communicators, communication content, communication channels, communication audience, and communication environment. The results show that with the development of new media, the penetration rate of Chinese Internet users will exceed 50% by December 2023. The number of Internet media in Chinese government organizations continues to grow, totaling 269,472. The cultivation of Internet Marxism is fragmented, and it is necessary to aggregate and integrate resources in the future. In the guideline layer indicators of Marxist Internet communication effect, the weight of communication content is 0.4187, which is the main factor in the decision-making system, followed by communication audience (0.1845). Downloading and rewarding behaviors in the program layer indicators have a significant impact on the communication effect.

Abstract:This paper's task is to outline some foundations of a critical, Marxist‐humanist theory of communication in the age of digital capitalism. It theorises the role of communication in society, communication and alienation, communication in social struggles, social struggles for democratic communication, the contradictions of digital capitalism, and struggles for digital socialist humanism.Marxist humanism is a counter‐narrative, counter‐theory, and counter‐politics to neoliberalism, new authoritarianism, and postmodernism. A critical theory of communication can should draw on this intellectual tradition. Communication and work stand in a dialectical relationship. Communication mediates, organises and is the process of the production of sociality and therefore of the reproduction of society. Society and communication are in class and capitalist societies shaped by the antagonism between instrumental and co‐operative reason. Authoritarianism and humanism are two basic, antagonistic modes of organisation of society and communication. Instrumental reason creates and universalises alienation.Digital capitalism is a dimension of contemporary society where digital technologies such as the computer, the Internet, the mobile phone, tablets, robots, and AI‐driven ("smart") technologies mediate the accumulation of capital, influence, and reputation. A Marxist‐humanist theory of communication aims to inform struggles for a good, commons‐based, public Internet in a good, commons‐based society that has a vivid, democratic public sphere.

Abstract:Since Karl Korsch's "Marxism and philosophy" came out,the question of relationship between Marxism and philosophy has been a hot issue.There are two representative views for this issue.One thinks that Marxism is mainly an experiential theory of history,a neutral,objective and functional explication to human history and modern social structure.Another insists that Marxism is a philosophy essentially,and a cultural and political criticism of social alienation and the reification in social life and culture.Both of the directions are reasonable to some extent,otherwise are one-sided.As McClellan noted,by effectively integrating history,philosophy,sociology and economics,Marx's social theory has made greatest achievement in the history of human thoughts in 19th century.If we view in terms of this position,Marx's contribution to our age is not that he set up a new philosophy in ordinary sense or he put forward a special doctrine in any social science,but that he was the first man who consciously succeeded in overcoming antagonism between philosophy and science,opened up a new practice of philosophy,namely integrating all scientific knowledge to form a unified social critical theory from normative perspective of human self-creation and liberation.As a critical social theorist,Marx has made most influential criticism and diagnosis of modern society and capitalism based on the norms of modernity and ideal of human emancipation.The new way of which takes Marxism as the critical theory of modern society has its own merits,by the way we not only can go beyond the so-called dualistic constellation between 'scientific Marxism' and 'Critique of Marxism',but also would be beneficial to well grasp the intrinsic unity and its contemporary significance of Marx's thought.

Abstract:Thought is the product of historical environment.Karl Marx lived in Europe which is the birthplace of world modernization.As a master of observing life,he studied the fresh practice of modernization.Marx's modernization thought is an important part of Marxism.Modernization is not only the background of Marx's modernization thought,but is also the perspective and field.In Marx's thought,there are both philosophy and modernization based on philosophy,economics,sociology, history,and so on.Marxism spread to China in modern Chinese modernization process.It not only showed the theory tolerance of survival of the fittest in natural selection,but also became the theoreti-cal guidance of China's modernization.Therefore,the sinicization of Marxism should include the sinici-zation of Marx's modernization thought.As a reference to Marxist philosophy,the study on Marx's modernization thought in China is still weak.To review and reflect the problems in academic research, and to find the new academic growing point of Marx's modernization thought is not only attempts to restore the integrity of Marx's thought,but also promotion of changing the sinicization of Marx's mod-ernization thought from recessive knowledge to dominant discourse.
