Abstract:We study the C stability conjecture of Palis and Smale [PS] for flows in this paper. Let M be a compact Riemannian manifold without boundary. For each r 1, let X(M) denote the set of C vector fields of M, endowed with the C topology. Every S # X(M) generates a C r flow ,=, : M_R R. We say S is C structurally stable if S has a C neighborhood U in X(M) such that every X # U generates a flow , that is topologically equivalent to ,. As usual, two flows are topologically equivalent if there is a homeomorphism h : M M that maps the orbits of one flow onto those of the other flow while preserving the orientation. Thus C structural stability implies C structural stability, when both make sense. In [PS] Palis and Smale conjectured that S is C structurally stable if and only if S satisfies Axiom A plus the strong transversality condition (see below for definitions). The ``if '' part was proved first for r 2 by Robbin [R], and then for r=1 by Robinson [Rs1]. The ``only if '' part was reduced by Robinson [Rs2] to proving that C structural stability implies Axiom A, which has been known as the C stability conjecture. Unlike the ``if '' part, the first target for studying the C stability conjecture is the case of r=1, i.e., the C stability conjecture. The case of r 2 is beyond our knowledge as discussed in [M2], and will not be considered in the present paper. The C stability conjecture has attracted attention for a long time. Abstract:Let X be a smooth subvariety of CP^N. We study a flow, called balancing flow, on the space of projectively equivalent embeddings of X, which attempts to deform the given embedding into a balanced one. If L->X is an ample line bundle, considering embeddings via H^0(L^k) gives a sequence of balancing flows. We prove that, provided these flows are started at appropriate points, they converge to Calabi flow for as long as it exists. This result is the parabolic analogue of Donaldson's theorem relating balanced embeddings to metrics with constant scalar curvature [JDG 59(3):479-522, 2001]. In our proof we combine Donaldson's techniques with an asymptotic result of Liu-Ma [arXiv:math/0601260v2] which, as we explain, describes the asymptotic behaviour of the derivative of the map FS\circ Hilb whose fixed points are balanced metrics.

Abstract:It seems that in Mañé’s proof of the C 1Ω-stability conjecture containing in the famous paper which published in I. H. E. S. (1988), there exists a deficiency in the main lemma which says that for f∈ ${\fancyscriptF}$ 1(M) there exists a dominated splitting $TM_{{\left| {\overline{P} _{i} {\left( f \right)}} \right.}} = \widetilde{E}^{s}_{i} \oplus \widetilde{F}^{u}_{i} $ (0 < i < dim M) such that if $\widetilde{E}^{s}_{i} $ is contracting, then $\widetilde{F}^{u}_{i} $ is expanding. In the first part of the paper, we give a proof to fill up this deficiency. In the last part of the paper, we, under a weak assumption, prove a result that seems to be useful in the study of dynamics in some other stability context.

Abstract:We prove the existence of Kahler-Einstein metric on a K-stable Fano manifold using the recent compactness result on Kahler-Ricci flows. The key ingredient is an algebro-geometric description of the asymptotic behavior of Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. This is in turn based on a general finite dimensional discussion, which is interesting in its own and could potentially apply to other problems. As one application, we relate the asymptotics of the Calabi flow on a polarized Kahler manifold to K-stability assuming bounds on geometry.

Abstract:In this paper, the C1 interior of the set of vector fields whose integrated flows are expansive is characterized as the set of vector fields without singularities satisfying both Axiom A and the quasi-transversality condition, and it is proved that the above vector fields possessing the shadowing property must be structurally stable. As a corollary, there exists a non-empty C1 open set of vector fields whose integrated flows do not have the shadowing property.

Abstract:We give an affirmative answer to a problem of Liao and Mañé which asks whether, for a nonsingular flow to loose the Ω-stability, it must go through a critical-element-bifurcation. More precisely, a vector field S on a compact boundaryless manifold is called a star system if S has a C 1 neighborhood $\mathcal{U}$ in the set of C 1 vector fields such that every singularity and every periodic orbit of every $X\in\mathcal{U}$ is hyperbolic. We prove that any nonsingular star flow satisfies Axiom A and the no cycle condition.

Abstract:We prove that a $C^2$-generic Riemannian metric on a closed surface has either an elliptic closed geodesic or an Anosov geodesic flow. As a consequence, we prove the $C^2$-stability conjecture for Riemannian geodesic flows of closed surfaces: a $C^2$-structurally stable Riemannian geodesic flow of a closed surface is Anosov. In order to prove these statements, we establish a general result that may be of independent interest and provides sufficient conditions for a Reeb flow of a closed 3-manifold to be Anosov.

Abstract:In the paper, non-singular flows with two limit cycles on the manifold S2×S1 are considered. For such flows, a classification is obtained up to topological conjugacy, and it is shown that they have a functional modulus of stability. Since the functional modulus of stability takes on its own value for each fixed argument, the presence of such modulus implies the presence of an infinite number of numerical moduli of stability. To obtain this result, linearization is carried out in the neighbourhoods of two limit cycles using the construction from the work by M. Irwin. A result is obtained on the presence of a two-dimensional foliation in a neighborhood of the limit cycle; this foliation is invariant up to topological conjugacy. Existence of the functional modulus of stability follows from the presence of such foliations. Namely, when considering the intersection of two foliations and, accordingly, two linearizations acting in the basins of two limit cycles, the desired functional modulus is a map describing the relative position of the foliation layer in the neighborhood of the first limit cycle relative to the layer of the second limit cycle. The results are used from the work by Pochinka O. V. and Shubin D. D. on exactly two classes of topological equivalence of flows in the class under consideration and on description of their differences. The work includes figure which shows 2 classes of topological conjugacy of flows from the classes studied. Also there is a figure which shows the process of gluing R3 into a manifold with a stable limit cycle. Moreover, the construction of a solid torus is shown. The figures show consistent and inconsistent orientation of limit cycles, as well as invariant foliations. Also there is a figure which shows the functional modulus.
Lyapunov stable chain recurrence classes for singular flows

Abstract:We show that for a $C^1$ generic vector field $X$ away from homoclinic tangencies, a nontrivial Lyapunov stable chain recurrence class is a homoclinic class. The proof uses an argument with $C^2$ vector fields approaching $X$ in $C^1$ topology, with their Gibbs $F$-states converging to a Gibbs $F$-state of $X$.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the stability of the generalized Lagrangian mean curvature flow of graph case in the cotangent bundle, which is first defined by Smoczyk-Tsui-Wang. By new estimates of derivatives along the flow, we weaken the initial condition and remove the positive curvature condition in Smoczyk-Tsui-Wang's work. More precisely, we prove that if the graph induced by a closed $1$-form is a special Lagrangian submanifold in the cotangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold, then the generalized Lagrangian mean curvature flow is stable near it.

Abstract:Based on the compactness of the moduli of non-collapsed Calabi-Yau spaces with mild singularities, we set up a structure theory for polarized Kahler Ricci flows with proper geometric bounds. Our theory is a generalization of the structure theory of non-collapsed Kahler Einstein manifolds. As applications, we show the convergence of the Kahler Ricci flow in an appropriate topology and prove the partial-C-0-conjecture.

Abstract:Let X be a C 1 vector field on a compact boundaryless Riemannian manifold M (dim M ≥ 2), and Λ a compact invariant set of X. Suppose that Λ has a hyperbolic splitting, i.e., T Λ M = E s ⊕〈X〉⊕E u with E s uniformly contracting and E u uniformly expanding. We prove that if, in addition, Λ is chain transitive, then the hyperbolic splitting is continuous, i.e., Λ is a hyperbolic set. In general, when Λ is not necessarily chain transitive, the chain recurrent part is a hyperbolic set. Furthermore, we show that if the whole manifold M admits a hyperbolic splitting, then X has no singularity, and the flow is Anosov.

Abstract:The well-known stability conjecture of Palis and Smale states that if a diffeomorphism is structurally stable, then the chain recurrent set is hyperbolic. It is natural to ask if this type of result is true for an individual chain class, that is, whether or not every structurally stable chain class is hyperbolic. Regarding the notion of structural stability, there is a subtle difference between the case of a whole system and the case of an individual chain class. The latter is more delicate and contains additional difficulties. In this paper we prove a result of this type for the latter, with an additional assumption of codimension 1. Precisely, let f f be a diffeomorphism of a closed manifold M M and let p p be a hyperbolic periodic point of f f of index 1 or dim ⁡ M − 1 \dim M-1 . We prove if the chain class of p p is structurally stable, then it is hyperbolic. Since the chain class of p p is not assumed in advance to be locally maximal, and since the counterpart of it for the perturbation g g is defined not canonically but indirectly through the continuation p g p_g of p p , the proof is quite delicate.

Abstract:We consider four extended Ricci flow systems---that is, Ricci flow coupled with other geometric flows---and prove dynamical stability of certain classes of stationary solutions of these flows. The systems include Ricci flow coupled with harmonic map flow (studied abstractly and in the context of Ricci flow on warped products), Ricci flow coupled with both harmonic map flow and Yang-Mills flow, and Ricci flow coupled with heat flow for the torsion of a metric-compatible connection. The methods used to prove stability follow a program outlined by Guenther, Isenberg, and Knopf, which uses maximal regularity theory for quasilinear parabolic systems and a result of Simonett.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Calabi flow on a polarized Kähler manifold and some related problems. We first give a precise statement on the short time existence of the Calabi flow for any c 3,α ( M ) initial Kähler potential. As an application, we prove a stability result: any metric near a constant scalar curvature Kähler (CscK) metric will flow to a nearby CscK metric exponentially fast. Secondly, we prove that a compactness theorem in the space of the Kähler metrics given uniform Ricci bound and potential bound. As an application, we prove the Calabi flow can be extended once Ricci curvature stays uniformly bounded. Lastly, we prove a removing-singularity result about a weak constant scalar curvature metric in a punctured disc.

Abstract:In this paper, we formulate the notion of the $\mathcal{F}$-stability of self-shrinking solutions to mean curvature flow in arbitrary codimension. Then we give some classifications of the $\mathcal{F}$-stable self-shrinkers in arbitrary codimension, in codimension one case, our results reduce to Colding-Minicozzi's results.
