Abstract:Li Shen's 46-line poem written after he encountered calumny in the Hanyuan was an important document about the contention between Niu and Li and the literature in Tang Dynasty. Although it was the poet's personal account of history, yet a lot of people and events were mentioned, especially the contention between the two different schools headed by Niu and Li. It is of great significance if we use this as a case to explore the relationship between the political events and literature in Tang Dynasty.

Abstract:150 precious pieces of Ci poetry written by 38 poets have been collected in succession from the books preserved in China,most of which are from rare corpora.According to the style of the Complete Ci-poetry of the Ming Dynasty and the Supplement to the Complete Ci-poetry of the Ming Dynasty,the author republishes some of them.The Ci poetry published in this paper is 59 pieces in total and written by 15 poets.

Abstract:This article investigates the thought of the mid-Tang scholar monk Shenqing through an examination of his Beishan lu. In this work, Shenqing launched a fervent attack against Southern Chan, while pressing for the harmonization of the Three Teachings. His critique of Southern Chan reflects his Theravadin tendency, as he expressed negative views about Southern Chan's violation of traditional Buddhist teachings. He specifically attacked its de-emphasis on the vinaya, and the fabrication of the 28-Patriarchs theory of transmission. In an effort to establish the orthodoxy of Southern Chan in early Northern Song, Chan clerics found it necessary to respond to Shenqing's critique, as clearly reflected in the writings of the monk Qisong. Beishan lu is a valuable source for a study of Shenqing's thought, and the unfolding of the harmonization of the Three Teachings. It also allows us to trace the historical unfolding of the Southern Chan movement from a different perspective.

A Study on the Patching-up of the Fragments of Golden Light Sutra in the Russian Collections of Dunhuang Manuscripts

Abstract:Golden Light Sutra is one of the most important scriptures of Mahayana Buddhism. It has five Chinese translations in all. Among them,the Tanmo Chen version,translated during Xuanshi period( 412-427 A. D.) in the Northern Liang Dynasty,is the earliest existent translation. After a general investigation of all the published Dunhuang manuscripts,we have found 280 documents of Golden Light Sutra of the Tanmo Chen translation,and 41 of them are newly named. Most of these documents are remnant scrolls or pieces,and some of them came from a same manuscript.Through comparing texts,cracks,writing formats,and calligraphic styles,this paper puts 37 fragments together into11 groups. The patching-up of these remnant scrolls and pieces,not only gathered the separated parts,but also helps us to make a more objective and accurate judgment on the properties of manuscripts.

Abstract:Dai Fugu is one of the Jiang Hu poets in the South Song Dynasty.His anthology is named Shi Ping Shiji ,but not all his poems is concluded in it. Many scholars keep working at compilation of his lost poems these years,but there are still some careless omissions. Shi Yuan is an important storehouse materials in compiling lost poems of Song Dynasty.The author gathers all the lost poems of Dai Fugu's anthology in Shi Yuan, indicates some flaws in Shi Yuan and The index of Shi Yuan, and corrects the mistakes of the scholars'concerned conclusions before.

Abstract:After the book Bamboo Slips of the Warring States Period Collected by Qinghua University vol.I and vol.II was published,the Institute for Excavated Text Research and Preservation of Qinghua University has restored an additional 6 slips,including portions of 8 texts.Two of the texts are lost poems of the Western Zhou period,one is Zhou Gong Zhi Qin Wu(Dance to Qin Music in Zhou Gong's Reign) of the early Zhou dynasty,and the other is the late Western Zhou Rui Liang Fu Bi(Rui Liangfu's Words).One of the texts is the authentic early Chinese text of Shang Shu —3 sections of Shuo Ming.One is Chi Hu Zhi Ji Tang Zhi Wu(Red Swans Gathered on Tang's House),which records the legend of Tang and Yi Yin.One is Yin Gao Zong Wen Yu San Shou(Emperor Gaozong of Yin Asking San Shou),which purports to be written by Wu Ding and Peng Zu.There is also a text recording virtuous officials from the time of the Yellow Emperor to the Spring and Autunm period.It can be called Liang Chen(Excellent Officials).

Abstract:The paper gives a detailed explanation of ShuFu,XianHou,BenZou,andYuWu in the last chapter of the poem Mian in The Book of Songs,and points out that they constitute a sequence from Zhou to its neighboring tribes,the interior to diplomacy,and to military affairs.The continuous use of these four names indicates that Zhou had pocessed enough strength to overthrow the Shang Dynasty.

Abstract:It has been "criticized" and thereby discussed on that The Song of Justice is excluded out of Qian Zhongshu's Annotated Selection of Song Poetry. Why Ogawa Tamaki(小川环树), a Japanese scholar, apologized for Qian's right to stick to his criteria of literary criticism in a related commentary has remained an unsolved question until the recent publication of The Collection of Qian Zhongshu's Manuscripts. In fact, abundant poetizing contents are revealed in it, showing that Qian stressed on "literary ontology ". For this reason, Qian offered a copy of Annotated Selection of Song Poetry to Ogawa Tamaki and gave more than ninety alternations and amendments to it by handwriting, which has provided a vivid example for studying Annotated Selection of Song Poetry.

Abstract:There are four Early Sui Dynasty Buddhist sutra inscriptions written by Song Shao(or Song Shaoyan) in Dunhuang manuscripts,which are respectively collected in China,Japan,and Britain.These inscriptions provide abundant academic information for studying matters such as the Song clan in Dunhuang,the official system,funeral customs of qi-qi-zhai(seven-seven feasts),and the situation of the northwest regions in the Zhou and Sui dynasties.

Abstract:The combination in inscribing WANG Bi＇s Annotations and KONG Ying-da＇s further explanations of the Zhouyi started from the eight-line version of the Southern Song Tea Salt Department. Then,there also appeared ten-line versions. It was based on ten-line versions that RUAN Yuan＇s Chong kan shisan jin zhu shu （Re-inscribed Annotations and Further Explanations of the Thirteen Confucian Classics） was completed. Scholars had pointed out that ten-line versions were inscribed in the Yuan dynasty and revised in the Ming dynasty. However,we should clarity the transmission of different ten-line versions. The ten-line version on which RUAN Yuan＇s version was based was a version which contains most errors. By examining RUAN＇s re-inscription,we can find that the mistake occurred in the selection of the master copy but not in the inscribing works. Meanwhile,basing on the case of Zhouyi zheng yi （Rectification of the Meanings of the Zhouyi）,it can be seen that the relationship between the ten-line version and Min,Jian,and Mao＇s versions is not merely a successive transmission asserted by the past literati. As a matter of fact,Min＇s version was based on a nine-line version inscribed in the Yuan dynasty from which the revised ten-line version of the Ming dynasty was derived. In the multitude of versions of the Zhouyi zhu shu,the version of Wu yin dian （Hall of Martial Valor） and that of Si ku （Four Treasuries） are easily neglected,whereas these versions are characteristic both in the collation and division of volumes.

Abstract:Abstract This article discusses three topics. First, it discusses the line “I could not fill my slanting basket” 不盈頃筐 in the poem “Juan er” 卷耳. The Anhui University Bamboo Slip version’s qing 頃 (slanting) is written . This, as with the Chu Silk Manuscript character, should be explained as qi 攲 (lopsided). Second, regarding the line “Do you not understand me?” 不諒人只 in the poem “Bai zhou” 柏舟 of the Yong Airs 鄘風 section, the Anhui University Bamboo Slip version of liang 諒 (understanding) is written jing 京. This character should be understood as qiang 強 in the sense of “coerce/force” 強迫. In the line “Supporting King Wu” 涼彼武王 in the poem “Da ming” 大明 of the Major Elegantiae 大雅, liang 涼 is similarly explained as 強 in the sense of “coerce” 威強. These two characters have always been traditionally glossed as either “trust” 信 or “assist” 佐. Third, regarding the line “... it cannot be recited” 不可讀也 of the poem “Qiang you ci” 牆有茨, du 讀 (reciting) in the Han Poetry 韓詩 is glossed in the sense of “record and narrate” 記述, which is superior to the traditional gloss.
