Experimental Research on the Seal of Non-Newtonian Magnetic Grease with High Viscosity

Abstract:For the universal Newtonian magnetic fluid seal can only seal a very small gap and only be used for the low temperature occasions,a kind of magnetic grease with Fe3O4 magnetic particles was prepared by replacing the Newtonian fluid with high viscosity grease.The sealing capacity of the magnetic grease used as seal fluid was measured on the experimental device under different conditions and structures,the changing tendency of the sealing pressure and the temperature of the magnetic grease was studied.The results indicate the non-Newtionian magnetic grease can bear high seal pressure and can be used in high temperature occasions,the seal gap can be larger so that the radial runout can be improved.The regulation of the inner friction factors can decrease the sealing temperature,so the life of the non-Newtonian magnetic grease seal can be much longer.
