Abstract:The key research of rock mechanics is static or dynamic behavior between rock materials with various shapes of contact surface.The basic approach of the contact surface mechanics property research is through the contact surface basic mechanics property test.To get steady shear strength of rock joints,shear strength of different size of samples need be tested.Hydraulic system and control scheme of a new device were introduced based on existent direct shear apparatus.At the same time,control accuracy and methods of normal force and shear force were analyzed.The accuracy was validated by several laboratory and in-situ experiments.It meets engi-neering design demand.The research provides large pressure range and flexible control apparatus in testing stress-dilation and size effect of sample.

Abstract:The leveling system is the key system of casing rotator. It determines the vertical degree of pile, and has an significant influence in construction performance. A automatic leveling hydraulic system with four supports and a biax angle sensor is designed, operation principle, controlling method and system analysis are elaborated as well. Engineering application proves that the designed leveling system can meet the construction requirement with reliable performance and low cost, and control the pile verticality within 1/1000.

Abstract:The presence of clearance in a spherical joint makes the ball of the joint easy to collide with the socket, which causes additional dynamic effects on the motion of spatial mechanisms. The complexity of interaction between different clearance joints and that between a clearance joint and connected component requires an effective analysis method. In this paper, a practical method is proposed for evaluating the dynamic effects of spatial flexible mechanisms with multiple spherical clearance joints using finite particle method (FPM) combined with a clearance contact model. First, the equations of motion of the particles and internal force formulas of spatial beam elements in the discretized FPM model are derived, and the explicit generalized-[Formula: see text] method is adopted for time integration. Then, the contact state is detected based on the penetration depth, using the Lankanani–Nikravesh model to calculate the contact force and the Threlfall model to calculate the friction force during collision in the clearance joint. Specifically, a method considering the particle rotations is utilized to better evaluate the direction of the friction force. A spatial four-bar mechanism with spherical clearance joints is used to demonstrate the feasibilities of the proposed method. The effects of four parameters (i.e. clearance size, friction coefficient, multiple clearance joints, and bending stiffness) on the dynamic responses of the mechanism are fully investigated.

Abstract:Drum level noise makes unneglectable influence on the control systems of Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) in gas-steam combined cycle. In this paper, the mechanism of drum level noises and its models are studied based on the field data and the theory of two-phase flow. the ARMA model is employed to establish the model of drum level noise that mainly comes from pressure drop oscillation. Then, LMS adaptive notch filter is designed to remove the noise of drum level signals. The drum level noise is also analyzed by simulation. The results show that the model established in this paper is reasonable.

Abstract:The loading-simulation test table of shearer drum was designed in order to solve the current problems in loading ways of shearer-drum-height mechanism. The table could be programmed and simulate the working conditions of the shearer drum under all kinds of media such as coal and rock dynamically and continuously, and realize the random variation of mechanical properties of cutting media. The results show that the table is reliable, and the change rules of simulation loads are similar to the actual loads, which can meet the loading demands of the shearer-drum-height mechanism.
Experimental Investigation and Analysis on Dynamic Strain of Leading Trailing Shoe Drum Brake

Abstract:The research on the dynamic strain of drum brakes is of great significance in performance evaluation, structure optimization and fatigue prediction. Based on current research of strain experiments and measuring technology, a new test procedure is proposed to investigate strain and temperature information of a working drum. Wireless data acquisition system and high-temperature strain gauges are applied. The strain-time and temperature-time curves are studied on the conditions of emergency brake and continuous brake. A tribological and thermo-mechanical analysis are conducted by using software ABAQUS. Results show that the strain is uneven when the drum contacts different zones of friction plates. Seasonal variation is another feature and a set of four wave crests repeats during the rotation. Meanwhile, thermal effect is proved important to strain. The simulation results coincide well with experiments, proving that this method provides a practical way to verify the calculation. The study also lays the foundation for the following fatigue analysis and optimization design.

Abstract:Based on the test data of air chamber pushrod force-stroke, a computation model a-bout air chamber pushrod force-stroke was established, and calculation formula of actuation deformation characteristics of the drum brake was proposed according to test data. The practical issue of drum brake with oversized overall stroke was resolved by experiments, and it indicates that major effect factors of air chamber overall stroke, which are the drum-shoe clearance, the elastic modulus of lining, the torsion deflection of cam shaft.

Abstract:In order to build the model of the drum level wave action and sloshing, based on the method of modularization modeling, the hydrodynamic model of drum level wave action and sloshing was developed, and dynamic simulation researches were carried out based on the model. The results indicate that both drum level and drum length have functional relations with period of drum level wave action and sloshing. When the drum level decreases or drum length increases, the period of drum level wave action and sloshing increases, density of liquid and number of sub-module division have little influence on the period of drum level wave action and sloshing. The model was validated by the analytical solution theory of liquid’s wave action and sloshing in cuboid container, and the 3D graphics of drum level wave action and sloshing was also obtained. The model can dynamically reflect the rules of wave action and sloshing of water in the container exactly.
Comprehensive performance analysis of a shearer drum in a complicated seam based on discrete element method

Abstract:Drum of Shearer undertakes the main function of coal falling and loading, and its performance directly affects the working efficiency of the shearer. Therefore, in order to realize the analysis of the performance of the shearer drum, the MG2 × 55/250-BW shearer drum was the engineered object. Combining the physical and mechanical properties experiment results of coal samples, the coupling model of the drum cutting in complex coal seam was established using discrete element method. The falling-coal characteristics of the spiral drum were studied under different working conditions, and the falling-coal trajectories of the coal and rock particles were fitted. Based on a virtual prototype, the variations of the coal loading rate and lump coal rate with different design parameters were determined by studying the falling-coal effect and loading performance of the drum. Considering the drum performance, multi-objective optimization theory was used to determine the optimal operating and structural parameters. The results indicate that, in the process of drum cutting, the cutting depth has the most significant effect on the coal loading rate, while, the blade spiral angle has the least significant. Moreover, with the increase of the cutting depth of drum and the traction speed, the lump coal rate increases. While, with the increase of the drum rotation speed and the blade spiral angle, the lump coal rate decreases. It is found that when the cutting depth of the drum is 597 mm, the traction speed is 5.4 m/min, the drum rotation speed is 104.8 r/min, and the blade spiral angle is 12° the performance of the drum is optimal. Compared with the falling-coal trajectories before optimization, the displacements of the coal and rock particles ejected along the optimal falling-coal trajectories increase in the coal loading direction. The loading rate and lump coal rate of the drum increase by 6.05% and 12.27%, respectively. The load fluctuation of the drum decreases, and the productivity increases.

Abstract:The hydrodynamic simulation model of drum level wave action and sloshing was developed based on the method of modularization modeling.The functional relationship between the sloshing cycle of drum level and the drum level,as well as that between the sloshing cycle of drum level and the drum size is analyzed,and the influence of the liquid density and the sub-module number on the drum level wave action and sloshing is studied.The analytic solution theory of liquid′s wave action and sloshing in the container was useded to validate the model,and the results show that the simulation model can reflect the natural wave action and sloshing rules of the liquid in the container.

Abstract:The drum level wave action and sloshing are caused by two reasons, namely the hydrodynamic and the thermal dynamic. Considering the effect factors from thermal dynamic and building the complete model for drum level wave action and sloshing, the key is to build the thermal dynamic model of drum level wave action and sloshing, Based on the method of modularized modeling, the reference model was built using method of lumped parameter, and according to the problems caused by the module division of the model of drum level wave action and sloshing, four kinds of feasible models for thermal model of drum level wave action and sloshing were proposed. Through the research on dynamic simulation results of dynamic process of "false water level" and drum's design condition, the best method among them were confirmed as the modeling method for thermal model of drum level wave action and sloshing, and he thermal model of drum level wave action and sloshing was built to establish solid foundation for building complete model for drum level wave action and sloshing and developing advanced drum level control strategy.

Abstract:Dynamic characteristics analysis on shearer drum is an important aspect in shearer design and a well-structured shearer drum provides better performance in vibration reduction and service life extension. To make reference for structure improvement, many researchers have focused on the dynamic analysis on cutting pick. However, the simplified model such as single pick, linear motion and continuous coal in the previous study made it divorced from actual situations underground. On basis of this, the model of shearer drum with several arranged picks and the coal model with some distributed rock have been set up in order to consist with the real working conditions. Through simulation, it can be found that the mean force in X -direction is little influenced by rock distribution, but the peak force in X -direction fluctuates greatly under different rock distribution. During the analysis on the peak force, it can be found that this kind of force could be cut down effectively when the rock was distributed on the top of the shearer cutting range. Based on these conclusions, we can program the cutting strategy to lower the influence of cutting forces on the shearer and its drum in the future.

Abstract:Aiming at the shortcomings of the automatic height control of the existing coal shearer drum, the control strategy of the coal shearer drums height adjustment sliding mode based on the variable speed reach law is proposed. Firstly, the mathematical model of the coal shearer height-adjusting cylinder is established, and the sliding mode switching function and its derivative including the deviation variable are derived. The exponential approaching law sliding mode controller is designed. Secondly, the hydraulic simulation of the drum height is established. The model compares and analyzes the control effects of traditional PID control and exponential approach law sliding mode control. The results show that the exponential approach law sliding mode control is superior to PID control in signal tracking dynamic response and steady state error; when the coal shearer is under load, the height of the drum under control of the exponential approaching law is basically unaffected; finally, the method of shifting the approaching law of dynamically adjusting the arrival speed by the fuzzy parameter optimization strategy is used to adjust the drum height. The simulation results show that compared with the traditional control method, the coal shearer control mode of the coal shearer drum based on the variable speed reach law not only ensures faster response speed and higher control precision, but also effectively reduces system chattering. Improve the reliability of the coal shearer cutting drive system.

Abstract:Designing an acoustic drum can be categorized into a class of eigenvalue optimization problems in the structural engineering area. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that is based on the Gâteaux derivative of the objective function with respect to the density functions and analyze our algorithm in detail. In the algorithm, we deal with the geometry constraint by exchanging the densities of two domains occupied by two kinds of different materials. Finally we apply this algorithm to some practical examples frequently used by the researchers and present some numerical results to show its feasibility, stability and efficiency.

Abstract:The disk-drum rotor systems with disks, shafts and drums are used widely in large rotating machines such as gas turbine, aircraft engine and so on. The existing study for the rotors always neglected the influence of the drums. This paper establishes a rigid rotor model with flexible supports for the disk-drum rotor system and analyzes its dynamic characteristics. The equations of motion are developed using the shell theory and energy expressions, where bearing stiffness-damping and deformation of the drum are included. Based on the proposed model, the natural frequency and vibration modes are obtained. The analysis involves the vibration behavior of the drum with respect to the geometric parameters (i.e., radius, length and thickness). The results reveal the basic parameters of the drum have a significant effect on the vibration response, which can also cause the dynamics features of the rotor system change. Moreover, the model developed helps to analyze the dynamics of the drum.

Abstract:To establish drum level control simulation model of large-volume Heat Recovery Steam Generators(HRSG) and improve drum level control precision,it needs to gain accuracy level signals.Actually,however the HRSG level signals measured on site contain the impulse typed noise cause by uncertainties.By means of time-frequency resolution of Hilbert-Huang transform(HHT) the spectrum of level signal showing interference component in very low frequency band(0.02Hz),can be identified,and the Alpha statistical model is used to describe drum level impulse noise.Meanwhile the low-pass Myraid nonlinear filter is designed to mitigate the effects of impulse noise.The real data on field test shows the approach is reasonable to eliminate the difference of multi-level sensor signals and help to develop accurate level control model of advanced HRSG control system.
Experimental Verification of a Hydrodynamic Model Featuring the Sloshing of a Drum Water Level

Abstract:To verify the effectiveness of a hydrodynamic model featuring the sloshing of a drum water level,developed was a hydrodynamic mechanism model showing the sloshing of the drum water level,and designed and set up was a test rig according to the test requirements.On this basis,an experimental study was performed.The research results show that the rest results regarding the sloshing of the drum water level are basically in agreement with the calculated ones in terms of the fluctuation period with the numerical error within a range of ±10%.In terms of the fluctuation amplitude and phase position,a certain error exists between the test results and calculated ones.However,such an error falls within a range of ±20%,meeting the demands of the research work and laying a necessary foundation for setting up a complete model featuring the sloshing of the drum water level.

Abstract:This paper presents an optimized regulation method on ampere density and coil space factor of switched-reluctance machine (SRM). These two factors are crucial and have significant influence on the performances of SRMs such as the electromagnetic torque output, the efficiency, the power density and the heat effect. But it is always difficult to set these two factors within the suitable range and to output optimal electromagnetic torque. Through selecting the appropriate number of winding turns and the cross area of coil wire, the proposed method can ensure these two factors are both within the reasonable limits meanwhile to guarantee the machine providing optimal electromagnetic torque.

Abstract:Drum water level systems show strong disturbance, big inertia, large time delay, and non-linearity characteristics. In order to improve the antidisturbance performance and robustness of the traditional active disturbance rejection controller (ADRC), an improved linear active disturbance rejection controller (ILADRC) for drum water level is designed. On the basis of the linear active disturbance rejection controller (LADRC) structure, an identical linear extended state observer (ESO) is added with the same parameters as that of the original one. The estimation error value of the total disturbance is introduced, and the estimation error of the total disturbance is compensated, which can improve the control system’s ability to suppress unknown disturbances, so as to improve the antidisturbance performance and robustness. The antijamming performance and robustness of LADRC and ILADRC for drum water level are simulated and analyzed under the influence of external disturbance and model parameter variation. Results show that the proposed control system ILADRC has shorter settling time, smaller overshot, and strong anti-interference ability and robustness. It has better performance than the LADRC and has certain application value in engineering.
