Abstract:A class of stage-structured predator-prey model with time delay and delay-dependent parameters is considered. Its linear stability is investigated and Hopf bifurcation is demonstrated. Using normal form theory and center manifold theory, some explicit formulae for determining the stability and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations are obtained. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to verify the analytical results.

Abstract:In this paper, a predator–prey system with a discrete delay and a distributed delay is investigated. We first consider the stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of local Hopf bifurcations. In succession, using the normal form theory and center manifold argument, we derive the explicit formulas determining stability, direction and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions. Finally, several numerical simulations for supporting the theoretical analysis are also given.

Abstract:A time-delay model for prey–predator growth with stage-structure is considered. At first, we investigate the stability and Hopf bifurcations by analyzing the distribution of the roots of associated characteristic equation. Then, an explicit formula for determining the stability and the direction of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations is derived, using the normal form theory and center manifold argument. Finally, some numerical simulations are carried out for supporting the analytic results.

By analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation, its linear stability is investigated and Hopf bifurcation is demonstrated. Some numerical simulation for justifying the theoretical analysis are also provided. Finally, biological explanations and main conclusions are given.

Abstract:In this paper, a class of three-species ratio-dependent predator-prey model is investigated. By analyzing the characteristic equation of the model, the stability at the positive equilibrium is proved. By choosing the delay τ as a bifurcation parameter, we show that Hopf bifurcation can occur when the delay τ passes a sequence of critical values. Meanwhile, using the center manifold theory and normal form approach, we derive the formulae for determining the properties of Hopf bifurcating periodic orbit, such as the direction of Hopf bifurcation, the stability of Hopf bifurcating periodic solution and the periodic of Hopf bifurcating periodic solution. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the analytical results. Our results complement some previously known ones.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly explore the dynamical behaviors of a delayed predator–prey system with Holling-III functional response. First, for the corresponding non-delayed model, we study some basic properties of its equilibria, and the effects of the parameter c on the unique positive equilibrium. Next, for the delayed system, the local stability and Hopf bifurcation of the positive equilibrium are analyzed by choosing the sum of two time delays as a bifurcation parameter. In particular, the delayed model with double delays can be converted to the delayed model with the single delay through variable transformations. Further, using the normal form method and center manifold theorem, we derive the explicit formulae for determining the direction of Hopf bifurcation. Finally, numerical simulations of all these findings are carried out for verifying our theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a delayed predator–prey diffusive system with Neumann boundary conditions. The bifurcation analysis of the model shows that Hopf bifurcation can occur by regarding the delay as the bifurcation parameter. In addition, the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcated periodic solution are also discussed by employing the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction for partial functional differential equations (PFDEs). Finally, the effect of the diffusion on bifurcated periodic solution is considered.

Abstract:A ratio-dependent predator–prey model with time delay due to the gestation of the predator is investigated. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of a positive equilibrium and a semi-trivial boundary equilibrium is discussed, respectively. Further, it is proved that the system undergoes a Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium. Using the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction, explicit formulae are derived to determine the direction of bifurcations and the stability and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions. By means of an iteration technique, sufficient conditions are obtained for the global attractiveness of the positive equilibrium. By comparison arguments, the global stability of the semi-trivial equilibrium is also addressed. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the main results.
Bifurcation Analysis of a Delayed Predator-prey Fishery Model with Prey Reserve in Frequency Domain

Abstract:In this paper, applying frequency domain approach, a delayed predator-prey fishery model with prey reserve is investigated. By choosing the delay τ as a bifurcation parameter, It is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs as the bifurcation parameter τ passes a sequence of critical values. That is, a family of periodic solutions bifurcate from the equilibrium when the bifurcation parameter exceeds a critical value. The length of delay which preserves the stability of the positive equilibrium is calculated. Some numerical simulations are included to justify the theoretical analysis results. Finally, main conclusions are given.

By analyzing the characteristic equations, the local stability of positive equilibrium and local Hopf bifurcations is discussed. Moreover, some explicit formulae for determining the stability and direction of Hopf bifurcation periodic solutions are obtained by using normal form theory and center manifold theory. The results we obtain can be used to provide reliable foundation for making control strategy.

Abstract:This paper presents Neimark–Sacker bifurcation analysis for a kind of discrete Gause-type predator–prey system with time delay, which is obtained by using Euler discretization method. For biological reasons, we are only interested in positive solutions of system, thus some parameter conditions are given for the existence of a unique positive fixed point. Then by choosing delay as bifurcation parameter, and analyzing the associated characteristic equation, we obtain stability result of the positive fixed point. It is also demonstrated that Neimark–Sacker bifurcation occurs when the delay crosses some critical values. An explicit formula which determines the stability, direction and other properties of bifurcating periodic solution is derived by using the center manifold and normal form theory. Finally, a numerical example is given to support the analytic results.

Abstract:Regarding delay-induced predator-prey models, much research has been done on delayed destabilization, but whether delays are stabilizing or destabilizing is a subtle issue. In this study, we investigate predator-prey dynamics affected by both delays and the Allee effect. We analyze the consequences of delays in different feedback mechanisms. The existence of a Hopf bifurcation is studied, and we calculate the value of the delay that leads to the Hopf bifurcation. Furthermore, applying the normal form theory and a center manifold theorem, we consider the direction and stability of the Hopf bifurcation. Finally, we present numerical experiments that validate our theoretical analysis. Interestingly, depending on the chosen delay mechanism, we find that delays are not necessarily destabilizing. The Allee effect generally increases the stability of the equilibrium, and when the Allee effect involves a delay term, the stabilization effect is more pronounced.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a predator-prey system with square root functional response, two delays and prey harvesting, in which an algebraic equation stands for the economic interest of the yield of the harvest effort. Firstly, the existence of the positive equilibrium is discussed. Then, by taking two delays as bifurcation parameters, the local stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are obtained. Next, some explicit formulas determining the properties of Hopf bifurcation are analyzed based on the normal form method and center manifold theory. Furthermore, the control of Hopf bifurcation is discussed in theory. What's more, the optimal tax policy of system is given. Finally, simulations are given to check the theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a predator–prey model with focus on the Allee effect and prey group defense. The positivity and boundedness of the model, existence of equilibrium point, and stability change caused by Allee effect are studied. Bifurcation (transcritical bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation) analysis is discussed, and the direction of Hopf bifurcation is determined by calculating the first Lyapunov number. Then we introduce delay into the original model and consider the influence of delay on the stability of the model. By selecting delay as the bifurcation parameter, we obtain the existence conditions of Hopf bifurcation and the direction of Hopf bifurcation. Finally, we verify the theoretical analysis by numerical simulation. Considering both the Allee effect and the prey group defense, the dynamic behavior near the origin becomes more complex than only considering Allee effect or prey group defense in the model. Allee effect can bring the risk of extinction and the change of stability, and the delay effect can make the stable coexistence equilibrium unstable and lead to periodic oscillation.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the differential-algebraic predator–prey model with predator harvesting and two delays. By using the new normal form of differential-algebraic systems, center manifold theorem and bifurcation theory, we analyze the stability and the Hopf bifurcation of the proposed system. In addition, the new effective analytical method enriches the toolbox for the qualitative analysis of the delayed differential-algebraic systems. Finally, numerical simulations are given to show the consistency with theoretical analysis obtained here.

Abstract:This paper presents a generalized delayed predator–prey system with habitat complexity. First, the dynamical behaviors of the considered system, including positivity and boundedness, stability property and the existence of Hopf bifurcation and super-critical bifurcation without time delay, are analyzed. Second, the effect of time delay on the dynamical behavior of the presented system is considered in four cases, and sufficient conditions for the existence of Hopf bifurcation are obtained. Moreover, the explicit formulas to determine the direction, stability and period of bifurcating periodic solutions are derived by applying the center manifold theory and normal form theory. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to verify the corresponding theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, a differential algebraic predator-prey model including two delays, Beddington-DeAngelis functional response and nonlinear predator harvesting is proposed. Without considering time delay, the existence of singularity induced bifurcation is analyzed by regarding economic interest as bifurcation parameter. In order to remove singularity induced bifurcation and stabilize the proposed system, state feedback controllers are designed in the case of zero and positive economic interest respectively. By the corresponding characteristic transcendental equation, the local stability of interior equilibrium and existence of Hopf bifurcation are discussed in the different case of two delays. By using normal form theory and center manifold theorem, properties of Hopf bifurcation are investigated. Numerical simulations are given to demonstrate our theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a diffusive predator–prey model with spatial memory of prey and gestation delay of predator. For the system without delays, we study the stability of the positive equilibrium in the case of diffusion and no diffusion, respectively. For the delayed model without diffusions, the existence of Hopf bifurcation is discussed. Further, we investigate the stability switches of the model with delays and diffusions when two delays change simultaneously by calculating the stability switching curves and obtain the existence of Hopf bifurcation. We also calculate the normal form of Hopf bifurcation to determine the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcation periodic solutions. Finally, numerical simulations verify the theoretical results.
