Abstract:Based on the PRI transform method, this article has found a radar signal sorting algorithm which aims at sorting those received radar pulse signals and recognizing their classes. Firstly, this method will screen those received radar pulse signals through the PRI transform method. And then, for the different kinds of radar pulse signals, it will choose different methods for sorting. When it comes to the problem of poor recognition of PRI staggered radar signals by traditional radar signal sorting method, the author uses a combined sorting based on the PRI transform method and the SDIF algorithm to identify the PRI staggered radar signals by setting the judging conditions. Finally, the algorithm has been simulated, of which the result show that the algorithm can successfully sort out different PRI radar signals.

Abstract:Radar pulses are interleaved in high-signal-density environment.Principal sorting algorithms are likely based on pulse repetition interval(PRI).In this paper,considering radar scanning characteristic,the influence of time of arrival(TOA) measurement error on PRI estimation and deinterleaving are discussed.Accordingly,an improved algorithm for measuring TOA,immunized from pulse amplitude's affection,is proposed.A deinterleaving algorithm,which may overcome the accumulation of PRI error,is also contrived.Simulation results indicate that the proposed sorting algorithm is quite effective in high-signal-density environment.The algorithm has been realized on a DSP platform,showing reasonable real-time capacity.

Abstract:Aiming at the problem of reliability reduction of signal sorting in terms of the traditional five parameters and intrapulse feature in a complex electromagnetic environment, a new signal sorting method based on radar coherent characteristics is proposed. The main idea of this method is using spectrum analysis to obtain the spectrum images of coherent and noncoherent signals. Image-processing technology is used to extract the feature difference between the two spectrum images, and the central-moment feature is introduced to describe this difference. Through simulation analysis, the feasibility of using the central-moment feature as the coherent feature for signal sorting was proved. In order to check the effectiveness of the proposed feature, a number of simulations were conducted to demonstrate the sorting capability in terms of the coherent feature. From the simulations, it can be seen that the proposed feature not only can be used as a new feature for signal sorting but also that it can be utilized as a supplement for five typical parameters and the intrapulse feature to improve the sorting accuracy rate. Simulations also showed the proposed method could achieve satisfactory sorting results in a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). When the SNR was 5 dB, the sorting accuracy rate could reach 98%.

Abstract:Abstract The sorting rate of current methods is not high and too sensitive to the signal noise ratio (SNR). In order to solve this problem, a novel characteristic for sorting radar emitter signal is proposed. The ambiguity function Radon curve of received signal is extracted, and then a rectangle pulse sequence and a triangle pulse sequence are constructed. Furthermore, resemblance coefficients of the ambiguity function Radon curve with two pulse sequences are extracted, and are used as the sorting parameters. The advantage of this new characteristic is validated by simulation result, and the lowest sorting rate is 90%at SNR=10dB.

Abstract:Sorting rate of common method is not high and it is sensitive to the Signal noise ratio (SNR), in order to solve these problems, bispectrum two dimensions characteristics complexity is applied to sort unknown complicated radar signal and a high sorting rate would be got. The bispectrum of received signal is extracted and it is predigested to two dimensions characteristic, the box dimension and information dimension are extracted from the two dimensions characteristic and used as the sorting characteristics, and the last sorting is accomplished by using KFCM algorithm. For the bispectrum of different signal is distinguishing and it is not sensitive to SNR, the box dimension and information dimension are divisible and steady, the advantage of this new method is validated by simulation results, and the lowest sorting rate is 90% at SNR equals to 10dB.

Abstract:To address the issues and limitations encountered by dynamic clustering algorithms in radar sorting applications, and to improve the accuracy and robustness of radar sorting algorithms, this paper proposes an improved dynamic clustering algorithm called Ordered Dynamic Clustering Algorithm. By introducing sorting of pulse parameters, the original algorithm is optimized to better differentiate complex radar systems such as frequency hopping radars, enabling effective discrimination of radars with different densities under a single threshold. Moreover, a cluster merging step is added to address the problem of excessive segmentation at low thresholds in the original algorithm. Through comparative simulations and practical engineering applications, the effectiveness of the algorithm has been validated. The research findings can be applied to the sorting optimization of multi-system radars with large amounts of data.

Abstract:Traditional radar signal sorting (RSS) methods assume that all types of radar signals can be stored and trained offline. However, the presence of noncooperative radar emitters makes the assumption unrealistic in real-world RSS problems. This article proposes a real-time method for RSS in complex electromagnetic environments based on the Bayesian framework. Each type of radar signal is regarded as a collection of samples from Gaussian distribution. Bayesian inference is applied to calculate the likelihood of a new data point belonging to a known category, and the Chinese restaurant process (CRP) is adopted to provide some prior knowledge which helps calculate the probability of opening a new cluster. For the overclustering problem caused by dynamic and large-scale changes in pulse descriptor words (PDWs) of the signals from the same radar emitter, a dynamic cluster merging (DCM) algorithm is introduced. The Wasserstein distance and Hausdorff distance of the probability density functions (pdfs) of the PDWs between clusters are weighted, and the pulse repetition interval (PRI) is also considered to measure the similarity between clusters which helps merge clusters of the same type of signal. The method proposed in this article is verified under the conditions of large-scale changes in PDWs and dynamic changes in signal numbers over time. Higher accuracy of real-time signal sorting is achieved on the simulated dataset of signals from 30 types of radar emitters compared with existing methods. Even in the situations with a significant pulse loss rate, the proposed algorithm still attains high accuracy.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the problem of key radar signal sorting and recognition in electronic intelligence (ELINT). Our major contribution is the development of a combined approach based on clustering and PRI transform algorithm, to solve the problem that the traditional methods based on Pulse Description Words (PDW) were not exclusively targeted at tiny particular signals and, less time-efficient. We achieve this in three steps: firstly, PDW presorting is carried out by the DBSCAN clustering algorithm, then, PRI estimates of each cluster are obtained by the PRI transformation algorithm, finally, by judging the matching between various PRI estimates and key targets, it is determined whether the current signal contains key target signals or not. Simulation results show that the proposed method should improve the time efficiency of key signal recognition and deal with the complex signal environment with noise interference and overlapping signals.

Abstract:In complex electromagnetic environments, the challenge of signal sorting task for multi-function radars (MFRs) with various work modes has arisen. The previous methods are prone to cause the so-called "increasing batch" problem, which means that the work modes of one MFR may be sorted into multiple emitters. In this letter, a MFR signal sorting method based on complex network is proposed to tackle the problem mentioned above. The novel method utilizes limited penetrable visibility graph to construct the network from interleaved radar pulse sequences, then employs label propagation algorithm and density peak clustering to detect community structures, thus fulfilling deinterleaving of pulses from several MFRs. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective to alleviate the "increasing batch" problem, and is also robust under non-ideal conditions.

Abstract:Abstract This paper proposes an improved radar signal sorting algorithm based on the maximum signal-to-noise ratio criterion, aiming at the high computational complexity or poor separation effect of traditional signal sorting algorithms. The algorithm uses the maximum signal-to-noise ratio when the independent signals are completely separated to establish an objective function. The source signal is replaced by the mixed signal processed by the adaptive length moving average. The extreme value problem of the objective function is transformed into a generalized eigenvalue problem. Compared with the traditional method, the improved algorithm not only retains the separation effect of the traditional information theory sorting algorithm, but also has lower computational complexity. Experimental simulation proves that the algorithm can separate linearly aliased radar signals more effectively.

Abstract:As electronic warfare becomes the core of modern warfare, radio frequency (RF) stealth radar is becoming the focus of modern electronic warfare. The anti-sorting strategy of RF stealth radar is a new effective method of the anti-enemy electronic reconnaissance system. Hence, research on the failure mechanism of sorting algorithms has become the cornerstone of anti-sorting technology. In this paper, the mechanism of algorithm failure is studied because the SDIF algorithm is widely used in engineering practice throughout the whole workflow of the sequential difference histogram (SDIF) algorithm, from the estimation of pulse repetition interval (PRI) destroyed by the algorithm and algorithm analysis to the staggered signal. Firstly, the working steps of the SDIF histogram sorting algorithm are considered. Key steps of signal sorting by the algorithm are analyzed, and the failure principle of the sorting algorithm is proposed. It is pointed out that if the PRI signal center value of the two groups of radars is within the tolerance range of the sorting algorithm, when the two signal center values are not of the same order of magnitude, the difference is more than 10 times, and the signal variation is less than 30% of the center value, the sorting error of the algorithm for the radar signal is at least 25%. The sorting algorithm fails to sort signals. At the same time, for the sorting failure of the staggered signal, the sub-PRI design formula of the staggered signal is proposed, and the staggered signal satisfying the design formula can make the sorting algorithm invalid. Finally, the correctness of the SDIF failure principle is further verified by formula derivation, signal design simulation and experiment. The principle of sorting failure provides theoretical support and foundation for the design of anti-sorting RF stealth signal. The principle of sorting failure makes up for the shortcomings of random signal design and improves the design efficiency of RF stealth signal.

Abstract:It is well known that the application of radar is becoming more and more popular with the development of the signal technology progress. This paper lists the current radar signal research, the technical progress achieved, and the existing limitations. According to radar signal respective characteristics, the design and classification of the radar signal are introduced to reflect signal’s differences and advantages. The multidisciplinary processing technology of the radar signal is classified and compared in details referring to adaptive radar signal process, pulse signal management, digital filtering signal mode, and Doppler method. The transmission process of radar signal is summarized, including the transmission steps of radar signal, the factors affecting radar signal transmission, and radar information screening. The design method of radar signal and the corresponding signal characteristics are compared in terms of performance improvement. Radar signal classification method and related influencing factors are also contrasted and narrated. Radar signal processing technology is described in detail including multidisciplinary technology synthesis. Adaptive radar signal process, pulse compression management, and digital filtering Doppler method are very effective technical means, which has its own unique advantages. At last, the future research trends and challenges of technologies of the radar signals are proposed. The conclusions obtained are beneficial to promote the further promotion applications both in theory and practice. The study work of this paper will be useful for choosing more reasonable radar signal processing technology methods.

Abstract:When radar receivers adopt digital channelization, it is prone to generating a cross-channel split signal, the rabbit ear effect, and a transition band repeated signal, leading to errors in radar signal sorting or identification. The pulse-splitting model and detection method proposed in this paper can model split pulses and identify them in radar pulse streams, facilitating the merging of split pulses to enhance sorting and identification performance. Firstly, the mechanism of splitting pulse generation is deeply analyzed, and the splitting site theory is proposed. Then, the split pulse signal model and the split pulse number statistical model based on geometric distribution are constructed, which are used to guide the construction of simulation data of split pulse flow with different characteristics. Furthermore, a time-domain convergence degree (TCD) index is proposed to characterize the pulse split phenomenon. At the same time, in order to avoid a large number of threshold searching problems in pulse-splitting detection, an empirical formula for the pulse-splitting detection threshold based on the TCD is given to quickly determine whether there is a pulse train split problem. The selected measured radar pulse stream is verified to follow a geometric distribution at a significance level of 0.05. The proposed method achieved a detection accuracy of at least 99.55% on the simulation dataset and at least 95.68% on the experimental dataset, validating the rationality of pulse-splitting modeling and the effectiveness of the detection method.

Abstract:Random pulse repetition interval (PRI) waveform arouses great interests in the field of modern radars due to its ability to alleviate range and Doppler ambiguities as well as enhance electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM) capabilities. Theoretical results pertaining to the statistical characteristics of ambiguity function (AF) are derived in this work, indicating that the range and Doppler ambiguities can be effectively suppressed by increasing the number of pulses and the range of PRI jitters. This provides an important guidance in terms of waveform design. As is well known, the significantly lifted sidelobe pedestal induced by PRI randomization will degrade the performance of weak target detection. Proceeding from that, we propose to employ orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) to overcome this issue. Simulation results demonstrate that the OMP method can effectively lower the sidelobe pedestal of strong target and improve the performance of weak target estimation.

Abstract:Radar signal deinterleaving has been extensively and thoroughly investigated in the electronic reconnaissance field. In this work, a new radar signal multiparameter-based deinterleaving method is proposed. In this method, semantic information composed of the pulse repetition interval (PRI), pulse width (PW), radio frequency (RF), and pulse amplitude (PA) of a radar signal is used to deinterleave radar signals. A bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BGRU) is employed, and the difference of time of arrival (DTOA)/RF, DTOA/PW, and DTOA/PA of the pulse stream are input into the BGRU. Based on the semantic information contained in different radar signal types, each pulse in the obtained pulse stream is classified according to the semantic information category, and the radar signals are deinterleaved. Compared to the PRI-based deinterleaving methods, the proposed method utilizes the multidimensional information of radar signals. As a result, higher deinterleaving accuracy is achieved. Compared to other existing radar signal multiparameter-based deinterleaving methods, the proposed method can adapt to radar signals with complex parameter features as well as to complex signal environments, and can complete the use of multiparameter in one step.

Abstract:Acquiring pulse signals of radar source is an essential component in implementing electronic support measures (ESM). The conventional signal detection or deinterleaving method are mainly applied in relatively simple environments. Currently, radar electronic reconnaissance signal processing capability is severely constrained by poor signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the interleaving of signals from various radar sources. This research develops a multi-layer particle swarm optimization (PSO) pulse extraction and deinterleaving technique to improve ESM's efficacy further. First, coherent accumulation of the received signals is performed using PSO to obtain higher SNR pulse. Second, the signals from this radar source are deinterleaved using the obtained pulse. Ultimately, the aforementioned procedures are combined into a multi-layer PSO architecture to capture radar source signals and deinterleaving them at low SNRs. The suggested algorithm's efficacy and robustness are confirmed through simulation experiments.

Abstract:This paper presents an Online Kernel Clustering with Parameters Adaptation(OKCPA),and applies it to the unknown radar emitter signal sorting.OKCPA algorithm which is based on Support Vector Machine(SVM),uses the kernel trick to map the dates into the high-dimensional linear space,and uses stochastic gradient descent to update the boundary function,the step size and penalization parameter is updated with the dates coming,which accelerates the speed of clustering sorting.Simulation results show that this method has higher clustering sorting speed and higher sorting accuracy.
A Novel Deinterleaving Algorithm of Radar Pulse Signal Based on Dsp

Abstract:A deinterleaving algorithm of radar signal based on DSP is presented in this paper, which is according to the structure of the deinterleaving system, characteristics of PDW (Pulse Descriptor Word) and histogram method. The threshold determination, accumulation of PRI (Pulse Repetition Interval) and others in the algorithm applied in different fields are introduced in detail. The experimental results and comparison with PRI transform method show that the algorithm in the paper does not only achieve the excellent deinterleaving performance in the mixed signal of normal pulses, staggered pulses and jittered pulses with high density of 200 thousand pulses per second from the same direction, but also do well with the capability of real-time processing and robustness.

Abstract:Radio frequency (RF) stealth anti-sorting technology can improve the battlefield survival rate of radar and is one of the research hotspots in the radar field. In this study, the signal design principle of anti-sequential difference histogram (SDIF) sorting was explored for the main sorting algorithm of the SDIF. Furthermore, we designed a piecewise linear chaotic system with interval number parameterization based on random disturbance and proposed a method to modulate the repetition period of widely spaced signal pulses using a chaotic system. Then, considering the difficulty of the traditional signal processing method to measure the velocity of the highly random anti-sorting signals designed in this paper, we used compressed sensing (CS) technology to process the echoes of the signals to solve the velocity and distance of the detection targets. Finally, simulation verification was performed from the correctness of the signal design principle, the performance of the chaotic system, the anti-sorting performance of the designed signals and the recovery and reconstruction performance of the signals by CS. The results show that: (a) the signal design principle presented in this paper can guide the signal design correctly; (b) the performance of the piecewise linear chaotic system with interval number parameterization is better than that of the classical one-dimensional chaotic system; (c) the anti-sorting signal modulated by the chaotic system can achieve anti-SDIF sorting, and the anti-sorting signals designed in this paper can be processed to obtain the velocity and distance of the targets.
