Abstract:Objective To investigate the risk factors of hypertension in residents(40-70 years old) with prehypertension in Tianjin city and to provide the base for prevention and treatment of hypertension and related diseases. Methods The convenience sampling in present study was used to select 1 176 residents(40-70 years old) with unclear diagnosis of hypertension from 6communities in Tianjin city as the subjects. Demographic and lifestyle data were collected. Blood pressure, body height and weight,waistline, blood glucose and blood lipids were measured. All subjects were divided into the prehypertension group [592 cases, 120 mm Hg≤SBP≤139 mm Hg and(or) 80 mm Hg≤DBP≤89 mm Hg] and the normal blood pressure group(584 cases, SBP120mm Hg and DBP80 mm Hg). Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the clustering of risk factors of hypertension for prehypertension. Results The body mass index(BMI), waistline, triglyceride, male proportion and drinking rate in prehypertension group were significantly higher than those in normal blood pressure group(P0.05 or P0.01). But the proportion of diabetes history,the percentages of smoking and low density lipoprotein cholesterol level showed no statistically difference between two groups(P0.05). The fasting plasma glucose level of residents with ≥50 years old in prehypertension group was significantly higher than that of normal blood pressure group(P0.05). The percentages of residents with 0 or 1 risk factor(such as smoking, drinking, obesity and overweight, hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia cited from Chinese Hypertension Prevention Guide) in prehypertension group were significantly lower than those of normal blood pressure group(P0.01). The percentages of residents with 3,4 or 5 risk factors in prehypertension group were significantly higher than those of normal blood pressure group(P0.01). The risk of prehypertension in 40-70 years old residents with 1,2,3,4 and 5 risk factors was 1.76,2.32,3.55,3.52 and 22.18 folds,respectively,as compared with40-70 years old residents with 0 risk factor. Conclusion The phenomenon of clustering of hypertension risk factors is observed in aged 40-70 years old residents with prehypertension of Tianjin communities.
