Abstract:Based on the need of developing a user education portal at Tsinghua University Library,DSpace is chosen as the base platform to build such a portal.This paper describes the main development and application and extension work on DSpace,including configuring main features of a DSpace installation,integrating local user authentication rule into DSpace,developing a lecture registration function,improving the publishing function and workflow of coursewares.

Abstract:Tsinghua University Library pays lots of attention to the introduction of new technology and idea in the Digital Library System development.We have carried out some in-depth study on the mainstream open-source repository software in recent years,and conducted a series of application development and practice too.This paper will discuss the latest development and our local application practice of two widely used open source repository software-DSpace and Fedora.First,an overview of the latest developments in the two software and their features are introduced.Then,a series of extended application and development about the long-term preservation and institutional repository are presented.At last,we give some thoughts and suggestions about the future construction of local repositories.

Abstract:Nowadays there is rarely a scenario where all the data can be fit nicely into one relational database management system or any other single data model. In acknowledgement of this fact a new concept of Dataspaces was introduced, according to which a dataspace system is assumed to be a hybrid of a search engine, a databases management system, an information integration system and a data sharing system. However the concept was presented in a visionary way and its implementation in the real world scenario has opened up many complex research challenges. Moreover so far the efforts put forth by the research community are quite disparate and it is highly desirable to have a unified effort which would hopefully enable rapid progress. Furthermore due to very high end-user expectations of such systems there are a lot of challenges and problems that need to be resolved and much scope for future work remains.

Abstract:This paper provides a state-of-the-art review on practical application and research advances of space structures in China.The main contents of the paper include: the optimization,improvement and innovation on the form of space structures;the collapse mechanism,elastic-plastic analysis and ultimate bearing capacity of nodal joints in space structures;super long span structures;development from heavy roofs to light roofs,from rigid structural systems to flexible systems;research and development of cable domes;simulation on the whole construction process and new construction methods of large space structures;development from fixed roofs to retractable roofs;development from simple design technology to manufacture informative integration technology;advances in theoretical research on space structures and health monitoring and reinforcing technology of space structures.Further research topics for the application and development of long-span space structures in China are finally presented.

Abstract:Since 1996 Tsinghua University Library has subscribed to more than 300 content databases. Through 70 platforms students and faculties gained access to 34,000 serial titles, in full text, including 22,000 English titles and 12,000 Chinese titles. In 2004, within the Tsinghua campus, there were total 1,700,000 searches to A&I databases and 2,800,000 downloads of full text articles and ebook chapters. To better understand the needs of the library patrons we conducted a survey whit focus in service satisfaction, e-resource value, usage of the information, and problems and issues in accessing databases. The responses and the results of the survey were overwhelmingly encouraging. With the positive feedbacks and constructive comments the library now can position itself to adjust the e-resource and provide better services with better information effectively.

Abstract:The digital museum of university is conducive to the preservation and utilization of precious cultural assets. This thesis describes the framework of a digital museum platform of university based on DSpace, including data models, metadata, searching and browsing, user interface, as well as the secondary development of DSpace platform and localization work. The platform, put into application in Beijing Normal University Digital Museum, has achieved good results, featuring an easy expansion, stable operation, convenient retrieval and flexible display.

Abstract:This Paper introduces PKUSpace - a collaborative platform for scientific learning and researching. Supported by efficient automated metadata extraction and powerful text classification modules, PKUSpace provides users with a very helpful and interactive procedure to upload e-resources. We use heuristic methods and regular expression matching techniques to mine different patterns and extract relevant metadata. Upon the well-organized e-sources, we builds a uniform retrieval interface with multi-function to provide taxonomy navigation, full-text search, structural search in the metadata level and meta-searching module with novel result-merging method. Combining two on-line scoring methods: scoring with exponential distribution and metadata scoring, we achieve an effective merging result of matched documents. Furthermore, PKUSpace provides an academic forum for students and professional users in every community to discuss their ideas and research work freely.

Abstract:During the past decades, the term “social computing” has become a promising interdisciplinary area in the intersection of computer science and social science. In this work, we conduct a data-driven study to understand the development of social computing using the data collected from Digital Bibliography and Library Project (DBLP), a representative computer science bibliography website. We have observed a series of trends in the development of social computing, including the evolution of the number of publications, popular keywords, top venues, international collaborations, and research topics. Our findings will be helpful for researchers and practitioners working in relevant fields.
Research Progress and Development Trend of Social Media Big Data (SMBD): Knowledge Mapping Analysis Based on CiteSpace

Abstract:Social Media Big Data (SMBD) is widely used to serve the economic and social development of human beings. However, as a young research and practice field, the understanding of SMBD in academia is not enough and needs to be supplemented. This paper took Web of Science (WoS) core collection as the data source, and used traditional statistical methods and CiteSpace software to carry out the scientometrics analysis of SMBD, which showed the research status, hotspots and trends in this field. The results showed that: (1) More and more attention has been paid to SMBD research in academia, and the number of journals published has been increased in recent years, mainly in subjects such as Computer Science Engineering and Telecommunications. The results were published primarily in IEEE Access Sustainability and Future Generation Computer Systems the International Journal of eScience and so on; (2) In terms of contributions, China, the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries (regions) have published the most papers in SMBD, high-yield institutions also mainly from these countries (regions). There were already some excellent teams in the field, such as the Wanggen Wan team at Shanghai University and Haoran Xie team from City University of Hong Kong; (3) we studied the hotspots of SMBD in recent years, and realized the summary of the frontier of SMBD based on the keywords and co-citation literature, including the deep excavation and construction of social media technology, the reflection and concerns about the rapid development of social media, and the role of SMBD in solving human social development problems. These studies could provide values and references for SMBD researchers to understand the research status, hotspots and trends in this field.

With the aim to explore the research status and development trends related to NoSQL technology, articles between 1998 and 2016 were collected from Thomson ISI’s SCI. After the analysis by using CiteSpace V, the pivotal documents related to NoSQL, as well as institutions, co-citation patterns, research hotspots and frontiers, etc., were visualized and identified.

Abstract:AbstractPurpose - This paper aims to introduce dataspace into digital libraries in order to address its emerging data management challenges which stem from cross-domain, heterogeneous, and uncertain nature of data resources, based on looking into the fundamental principles, significant features, and research directions of dataspace. Design/methodology/approach - This research mainly employs three types of research methodologies: a literature study was conducted for revealing the fundamental principles, analyzing the significant features, and discussing the new research topics; knowledge engineering methodology is used to design the data model; software engineering methodology is applied to develop the reference framework and the digital library. Findings - This paper for the first time proposes a motion to build a Dataspace Support Digital Library DSDL, and provides its data model, data management policies and a reference framework. Further, its implementation is described and some implications learned from the case study are also discussed. Practical implications - Introducing dataspace technologies into developing a digital library frees the developer to just focus on solving business challenges, rather than addressing non-business related, data management level tasks. In addition, the data model and the reference framework presented in this paper lay foundations for constructing Dataspace Support Digital Libraries. Originality/value - This is the first paper to introduce dataspaces into the design of digital libraries and is also the first paper to propose a novel data model, data management and reference framework for Dataspace Support Digital Libraries.

Abstract:Purpose Through the case analysis of China’s digital library, the purpose of this paper is to make readers understand the development status, achievements and problems of China’s digital library. At the same time, it also enables readers to understand the common application forms of these modern information technologies in digital libraries, so as to provide a reference basis for the application of new technologies in other countries’ digital libraries. Design/methodology/approach On the basis of literature review, the authors have analyzed a conspicuous collection of related papers in order to make a comprehensive summary and elaboration on the present situation of modern information technology application in Chinese digital libraries. Findings This paper defines and analyses the concepts, contents and relationships of the three most important modern Big Data information technologies, and then completes the analysis of the current situation of the application of information technology in Chinese digital libraries. The block chain can achieve more accurate information collection, more secure information storage and more effective information dissemination. Artificial intelligence can improve the existing digital library service level in three aspects: resource construction, information organization and information service. Internet plus will help transform the traditional digital library business mode in order to adapt to the change of user-centered service. Originality/value This is among the first structured attempts of comprehensively and generally summarizing the application of modern information technology in Chinese digital libraries. It also contains an original exploration of the relationship between the main kinds of modern information technology. Based on this, a relatively complete application scenario and possible vision of modern information technology in digital library can be built.

Abstract:With the increasing popularity of Internet, more and more developers are collaborating together for software development. During the collaboration, a lot of information related to software development, including communication and coordination information of developers, can be recorded in software repositories. The information can be employed to construct Developer Social Networks (DSNs) for facilitating tasks in software engineering. In this paper, we survey recent advances of DSNs and examine three fundamental steps of DSNs, namely construction, analysis, and applications. We summarize the state-of-the-art methods in the three steps and investigate the relationships among them. Furthermore, we discuss the main issues and point out the future opportunities in the study of DSNs.
