Analysis of treatment status on metabolic syndrome among veterans in Xi'an

Abstract:Objective To study the metabolic syndrome(MS)treatment of veterans for providing evidence of medical care and preventive health services in Xian residential areas.Methods We collect the data on physical examination of reterans aged ≥60 years in 2003.163 MS patients were interviewed with questionaire.Results The whole prevalence rate of MS was 13.1%.The whole control rate of BMI was 83.6%.The whole control rate of blood pressure,glucose,and cholesterol were 77.6%,58.4% and 29.8% respectively.The control of serume glucose was lower in aged ≥80 years than in other age groups(P<0.05).The patients aged ≥80 years had less knowledge of MS than others.More than 3 non-drug treatment and the control of BMI were higher in aged ≥80 years than in other age groups.The medicine cost was different among different age groups,which was higher in aged ≥80 years than in others(P<0.05).Conclusions The control rate of glucose and cholesterol were relatively low.Education of MS should be taken into account in Xi'an residential areas among veterans.
