Abstract:OBJECTIVE To compare the SOD activity of Panax ginseng from different ages and sources,and provide the basis for quality evaluation and clinical application of ginseng herbs.METHODS Coomassie brilliant blue method was used to determine the protein concentration.Improved pyrogallol auto-oxidation method and NBT photoreduction method were used to determine the SOD activity.RESULTS The SOD activitity of 15 places were different,respectively.The highest activity was 72.20 U·mg-1,The lowest activity was 12.16 U·mg-1.The SOD activitity of four years and five years ginseng could not be observed.CONCLUSION The analysis method was accurate,fast,thus it can be used to determinate the different sources of ginseng.
