A Review of "Fiction Writing" in Chinese Children's Literature in 2004

Abstract:This paper reviews the fiction writing in Chinese children's literature in 2004 and discovers current trends in these works.First,a large number of writers and their works have promoted the publishing market.Second,the in-depth observation of the living condition of their characters and readers has led to realism and on-the-spot record in the fiction.Third,many works show the notions of pleasure,humor,sagacity,and advocating personality.Finally,much attention has been paid to the life of common people.However,there still exist some deficiencies in these works.First,there is few study of the characters' intrinsic motivation.Second,the issue of sexuality has not been well treated.Third,the overuse of humor,prank and tease has damaged the sanctity,sobriety and poetry of literature.Fourth,childish language still poses as a serious problem.Finally,relying heavily on their talent,experience and writing habits,many writers lack in training in theory.In a word,this paper attempts to provide a comprehensive,objective,fair,and accurate review so as to offer some beneficial reference for reading and literary creation.
