Abstract:We prove that any compact complex surface with positive first Chern class admits an Einstein metric which is conformally related to a Kaehler metric. The key new ingredient is the existence of such a metric on the blow-up of the complex projective plane at two distinct points.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the problem of conformally deforming a metric on a 3-dimensional manifold M^3 such that its k-curvature equals to a prescribed function, where the k-curvature is defined by the k-th elementary symmetric function of the eigenvalues of the Einstein tensor, 1≤ k≤ 3. We prove the solvability of the problem and the compactness of the solution sets on manifolds when k=2 and 3, provided the conformal class admits a negative k-admissible metric with respect to the Einstein tensor.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the problem of conformally deforming a metric to a prescribed kth order symmetric function of the eigenvalues of the Schouten tensor on compact Riemannian manifolds with totally geodesic boundary. We prove the solvability of the problem and the compactness of the solution set for the case k >= n/2, provided the conformal class admits a k-admissible metric. These results have been proved by Gursky and Viaclovsky, Trudinger and Wang for the manifolds without boundary, and by Jin et al. and S. Chen for the locally conformally flat manifolds with boundary.

Abstract:In this paper, we solve a class of Neumann problems on a manifold with totally geodesic smooth boundary. As a consequence, we also solve the prescribing k-curvature problem of the modified Schouten tensor on such manifolds; that is, if the initial k-curvature of the modified Schouten tensor is positive for tau > n - 1 or negative for tau < 1, then there exists a conformal metric such that its k-curvature defined by the modified Schouten tensor equals some prescribed function and the boundary remains totally geodesic.

Abstract:The authors consider the problem of conformally deforming a metric such that the k-curvature defined by an elementary symmetric function of the eigenvalues of the Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor on a compact manifold with boundary to a prescribed function. A consequence of our main result is that there exists a complete metric such that the Monge-Ampère type equation with respect to its Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor is solvable, provided that the initial Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor belongs to a negative convex cone.

Abstract:The conformai properties of complex Finsler metrics are studied. We first give a characterization of a compact complex Finsler manifold to be globally conformai Kahler. By considering the total holomorphic curvature and total Ricci curvature in the volume preserved conformal classes, we then study the variational properties of Kahler Finsler metrics. By studying the spectral properties of two average metrics, the stabilities of critical Kähler Finsler metrics are verified. Finally, a Yamabe type problem for mean holomorphic Ricci curvature is considered, and a partial existence result is obtained.

Abstract:Various estimates of the lower bound of the holomorphic invariant α(M), defined in [T], are given here by using branched coverings, potential estimates and Lelong numbers of positive,d-closed (1, 1) currents of certain type, etc. These estimates are then applied to produce Kähler-Einstein metrics on complex surfaces withC1>0, in particular, we prove that there are Kähler-Einstein structures withC1>0 on any manifold of differential type$CP^2 \# \overline {nCP^2 } (3 \leqq n \leqq 8)$.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce the “interpolation–degeneration” strategy to study Kähler–Einstein metrics on a smooth Fano manifold with cone singularities along a smooth divisor that is proportional to the anti-canonical divisor. By “interpolation” we show the angles in (0, 2π] that admit a conical Kähler–Einstein metric form a connected interval, and by “degeneration” we determine the boundary of the interval in some important cases. As a first application, we show that there exists a Kähler–Einstein metric on ${\mathbb{P}^2}$ with cone singularity along a smooth conic (degree 2) curve if and only if the angle is in (π/2, 2π]. When the angle is 2π/3 this proves the existence of a Sasaki–Einstein metric on the link of a three dimensional A 2 singularity, and thus answers a question posed by Gauntlett–Martelli–Sparks–Yau. As a second application we prove a version of Donaldson’s conjecture about conical Kähler–Einstein metrics in the toric case using Song–Wang’s recent existence result of toric invariant conical Kähler–Einstein metrics.

Abstract:This is the third and final article in a series which prove the fact that a K-stable Fano manifold admits a Kähler-Einstein metric. In this paper we consider the Gromov-Hausdorff limits of metrics with cone singularities in the case when the limiting cone angle approaches 2 π \pi . We also put all our technical results together to complete the proof of the main theorem.

Abstract:This paper presents two results in the realm of conformal Kaehler submanifolds. These are conformal immersions of Kaehler manifolds into the standard flat Euclidean space. The proofs are obtained by making a rather strong use of several facts and techniques developed in Chion and Dajczer (Proc Edinb Math Soc 66:810–833, 2023) for the study of isometric immersions of Kaehler manifolds into the standard hyperbolic space.

Abstract:We observe that, for a Bismut Einstein metric, the (2,0)-part of Bismut Ricci form is an eigenvector of the Chern Laplacian. With the help of this observation, we prove that a Bismut Einstein metric with non-zero Einstein constant is Kähler Einstein. Additionally, for Bismut Einstein metrics with zero Einstein constant, we prove that they are actually Bismut Ricci flat.

Abstract: This is the second of a series of three papers which provide proofs of results announced in arXiv:1210.7494. In this paper we consider the Gromov-Hausdorff limits of metrics with cone singularities in the case when the limiting cone angle is less than 2\pi. We show that these are in a natrual way projective algebraic varieties. In the case when the limiting variety and the limiting divisor are smooth we show that the limiting metric also has standard cone singularities.

Abstract:Let (M, g) be a compact Kähler manifold and f a positive smooth function such that its Hamiltonian vector field $K = J\mathrm {grad}_g f$ for the Kähler form $\omega _g$ is a holomorphic Killing vector field. We say that the pair (g, f) is conformally Einstein–Maxwell Kähler metric if the conformal metric $\tilde{g} = f^{-2}g$ has constant scalar curvature. In this paper we prove a reductiveness result of the reduced Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields for conformally Einstein–Maxwell Kähler manifolds, extending the Lichnerowicz–Matsushima Theorem for constant scalar curvature Kähler manifolds. More generally we consider extensions of Calabi functional and extremal Kähler metrics, and prove an extension of Calabi’s theorem on the structure of the Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields for extremal Kähler manifolds. The proof uses a Hessian formula for the Calabi functional under the set up of Donaldson-Fujiki picture.

Abstract:Let M be a complex manifold. Then a Hermitian metric X, g, dz'& di/defined on M is said to be Kähler if the Kähler form Q= VT 2.78. jdz'/\dz) is closed. Abstract:A complex Hermitian $n$-manifold $(M,I, \omega)$ is called locally conformally Kahler (LCK) if $d\omega=\theta\wedge\omega$, where $\theta$ is a closed 1-form, balanced if $\omega^{n-1}$ is closed, and SKT if $dId\omega=0$. We conjecture that any compact complex manifold admitting two of these three types of Hermitian forms (balanced, SKT, LCK) also admits a Kahler metric, and prove partial results towards this conjecture. We conjecture that the (1,1)-form $-d(I\theta)$ is Bott--Chern homologous to a positive (1,1)-current. This conjecture implies that $(M,I)$ does not admit a balanced Hermitian metric. We verify this conjecture for all known classes of LCK manifolds.

Abstract:We show that if a connected compact kählerian surface $M$ with nonpositive gaussian curvature is furnished with a closed conformal vector field $\xi$ whose singular points are isolated, then $M$ is isometric to a flat torus and $\xi$ is parallel. We also consider the case of a connected complete kählerian manifod $M$ of complex dimension $n>1$ and furnished with a nontrivial closed conformal vector field $\xi$. In this case, it is well known that the singularities of $\xi$ are automatically isolated and the nontrivial leaves of the distribution generated by $\xi$ and $J\xi$ are totally geodesic in $M$. Assuming that one such leaf is compact, has torsion normal holonomy group and that the holomorphic sectional curvature of $M$ along it is nonpositive, we show that $\xi$ is parallel and $M$ is foliated by a family of totally geodesic isometric tori and also by a family of totally geodesic isometric complete kählerian manifolds of complex dimension $n-1$. In particular, the the universal covering of $M$ is isometric to a riemannian product having $\mathbb R^2$ as a factor. We also present a generic example showing that one cannot get rid of the hypothesis on the nonpositivity of the holomorphic sectional curvature along at least one such leaf.

Abstract:We establish a one-to-one correspondence between Kähler metrics in a given conformal class and parallel sections of a certain vector bundle with conformally invariant connection, where the parallel sections satisfy a set of non--linear algebraic constraints that we describe. The vector bundle captures 2-form prolongations and is isomorphic to $\Lambda^3(\cT)$, where ${\cT}$ is the tractor bundle of conformal geometry, but the resulting connection differs from the normal tractor connection by curvature terms. Our analysis leads to a set of obstructions for a Riemannian metric to be conformal to a Kähler metric. In particular we find an explicit algebraic condition for a Weyl tensor which must hold if there exists a conformal Killing-Yano tensor, which is a necessary condition for a metric to be conformal to Kähler. This gives an invariant characterisation of algebraically special Riemannian metrics of type $D$ in dimensions higher than four.
