Abstract:The 3D reconstruction technology for the rapid measurement and modeling has been used in the automotive, aircraft and other industrial manufacturing sectors because it is capable of solving the accuracy problem. Noncontact measurement technology is extended in the field of industrial construction. However, its application in shipbuilding, renowned for large-size, one-of-a-kind, and high-precision, moves slowly. Necessary improvements both in technology and equipment would have an important impact on its use in the shipbuilding industry, where it is indispensable to obtain 3D models and to collect precise data on complicated steel structures. To acquire efficient noncontact measurement techniques suitable for shipbuilding processes, at least three essential challenges are foreseen to be overcome. The first is the complexity measurement operations demanding professional personnel with special training. The second is the time-consuming measurement processes with multiple steps implying the long occupation of in-house assembly site. The third is the unavailability of quick comparison with the theoretical structure data and to calculate the errors This paper has proposed a noncontact measurement method based on 3D reconstruction technology, followed by preliminary experiments to verify its feasibility. Furthermore, a real-time monitoring system suitable for ship construction, which integrates the rapid measurement, the model construction and the error monitoring, has been presented as well.

Abstract:With the advance in virtual reality applications, garment industry has strived for new developments. This paper reviews state-of-the-art CAD methods in 3D garment design. A large range of techniques are selected and organized into several key modules which form the core of a 3D garment design technology platform. In each module, basic techniques are presented first. Then advanced developments are systematically discussed and commented. The selected key modules – digital human modeling, 3D garment design and modification, numerical integration of draping, 2D pattern generation, geometric details modeling, parallel computation and GPU acceleration – are discussed in turn. Major challenges and solutions that have been addressed over the years are discussed. Finally, some of the ensuing challenges in 3D garment CAD technologies are outlined.

Abstract:According to current situation of the ship automation and ship building industry in China,the necessity to research and to develop integrated ship control system is analyzed in this paper.The structure of ship control system and the disadvantages of the traditional control system are introduced.Then a design plan of control system based on distributed control units is proposed and analyzed.Finally,based on the Supcon Web Field ECS-100,a simulation system of integrated ship control is implemented.Test results show the feasibility and effectiveness of the design plan.

Abstract:The overall design of a high efficiency and high precision centering device for ship pipe welding was put forward. To ensure the pipe centering accuracy,in this device,same direction tapered tube and steel balls were used to lock the inner wall of the pipe. To improve efficiency,in this device,hydraulic cylinder was used to provide power. Using finite element analysis software AN-SYS,the structure was analyzed,and the feasibility of the device was verified through tests.

Abstract:For rapid modelling of ship structure and sharing of product data for a computer-integrated manufacturing system in shipbuilding, this research proposes a data exchange method between two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional finite element models. The report of the research is followed by appropriately planning the structure of the extracted data based on the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data. A set of rules for two-dimensional feature recognition is established, and then the method for the extraction of graphic and non-graphic design information from two-dimensional drawings of transverse sections is presented. An algorithm for rapid modelling of the longitudinal hull structure is proposed, based on data extracted from the transverse sections. This algorithm bypasses the geometric modelling stage required in traditional manual modelling, exclusively making use of the extracted information. The proposal also enriches data exchange, greatly reduces human error in modelling and consequently improves the accuracy of the finite element modelling for the shipbuilding industry.

Abstract:The research study proposes to examine a three-dimensional visualization program, emphasizing on improving genetic algorithms through the optimization of a layout design-based standard and discrete shipbuilding workshop. By utilizing a steel processing workshop as an example, the principle of minimum logistic costs will be implemented to obtain an ideological equipment layout, and a mathematical model. The objectiveness is to minimize the total necessary distance traveled between machines. An improved control operator is implemented to improve the iterative efficiency of the genetic algorithm, and yield relevant parameters. The Computer Aided Tri-Dimensional Interface Application (CATIA) software is applied to establish the manufacturing resource base and parametric model of the steel processing workshop. Based on the results of optimized planar logistics, a visual parametric model of the steel processing workshop is constructed, and qualitative and quantitative adjustments then are applied to the model. The method for evaluating the results of the layout is subsequently established through the utilization of AHP. In order to provide a mode of reference to the optimization and layout of the digitalized production workshop, the optimized discrete production workshop will possess a certain level of practical significance.

Abstract:The digital twin (DT) approach has risen in popularity for applications in many industrial process managements. By applying the "Shipyard 4.0" digital transformation trend, the ship industry is developing techniques able to reduce risks by improving operation process management. This study proposes a combination of a DT approach and practical experiment as part of a five-tier framework for DT-driven process management in the ship industry. This study focuses on the characteristic scenarios and crucial parameters within the ship engine system and shipping cargo container in operation procedures. DT-based models and platforms are established in this study based on the basic modeling of Maya and scene rendering of Unity 3D. To address the fusion issue of multi-source heterogeneous data in the ship operation process, a Bayesian neural network (BNN) method is introduced into DT's virtual model layer and data support layer. By integrating an improved BNN-based algorithm into DT-based models, the collected data can be extracted and aggregated accordingly. In the ship engine room, the operating temperature is selected as a critical parameter, with the best mean percentage deviation (MPD) between DT-driven predictions and test value of 3.18%. During the shipping cargo container process, the results indicate that DT-based models have acceptable performances under different conditions, with optimal MPDs of 5.22%.

Abstract:_ Traditional accuracy check methods for cargo hold in container ships rely solely on manual and visual operations, which are time-consuming and resource-intensive. Addressing the challenge of extracting and analyzing key data, such as cell guides and container pedestals, from large-scale point clouds obtained through three-dimensional (3D) laser scanning in container ship trial runs, this paper proposes an algorithmic framework based on 3D laser scanning. Building upon this framework, an improved coordinate-axis filtering RANSAC algorithm is employed to optimize the extraction of cell guide planes. Additionally, an algorithmic process based on Bhattacharyya distance is utilized to automatically extract container pedestal point clouds. Furthermore, a combination of the genetic algorithm and the ICP algorithm is proposed to achieve the fitting of the container pedestal edge contour through point cloud registration. Experimental results demonstrate the consistency between the extracted cell guide and container pedestal data and the actual results, indicating the high practical value of the proposed methodology. Abstract:The shipbuilding industry plays a pivotal role in national strategic security and economic development, and one critical challenge is the pipeline layout design problem. It predominantly relies on designers’ subjective experience, and it is marked by a lack of efficient knowledge sharing and the absence of smart pipe routing algorithms. This paper proposes an agile design system, which integrates ship pipeline design knowledge management, semi-automatic design that involves frequent interaction with human designers, and automatic rule checking. The framework is refined by digital twin concepts, facilitating close collaboration between physical and digital systems. The paradigm shift holds the potential to substantially enhance the efficiency of ship pipeline layout design, while concurrently reducing the reliance on manual labor.

Abstract:Mould bed is crucial for supporting the ship subsection and controlling its deformation during shipbuilding. However, its visualisation and control process intelligence are often inadequate, leading to reduced accuracy and efficiency in ship subsection construction. Aiming at the problem, a three-dimensional (3D) visual monitoring method for the marine intelligent mould bed is proposed based on digital twin, and the overall framework of the management and control system is designed. Meanwhile, a fuzzy PID control principle optimised by the genetic algorithm is proposed to better control the deformation of the ship subsection. On this basis, the verification of the developed system is carried out based on the physical intelligent mould bed, and the 3D visual management and control of the marine intelligent mould bed are realised. It provides a foundation for improving the accuracy and efficiency of ship subsection construction.

Abstract:" In this paper shows analysis on container ship design. Today, containers on vessel contain a wide range of different goods from consumer goods as shoes and electronic devices to chemicalsand other raw materials. Nevertheless, a container vessel is a cargo ship that carries all of its load in truck-size intermodal containers, in a technique called containerization. This article briefly discusses the scheduling of current conbtainer ship. Threfore, the manuscript major are: design of cargo ship, analyzed two model from vessel, types of container ships, etc. The design of a cargo ship was done with the NX software from Siemens. Finally, the recent trends in container vessel programming and the shortcomings of existing models are discussed. "

Abstract:This book offers an introduction to the fundamental principles and systematic methodologies employed in computational approaches to ship design. It takes a detailed approach to the description of the problem definition, related theories, mathematical formulation, algorithm selection, and other core design information. Over eight chapters and appendices the book covers the complete process of ship design, from a detailed description of design theories through to cutting-edge applications. Following an introduction to relevant terminology, the first chapters consider ship design equations and models, freeboard calculations, resistance prediction and power estimation. Subsequent chapters cover topics including propeller deign, engine selection, hull form design, structural design and outfitting. The book concludes with two chapters considering operating design and economic factors including construction costs and fuel consumption. The book reflects first-hand experiences in ship design and R&D activities, and incorporates improvements based on feedback received from many industry experts. Examples provided are based on genuine case studies in the field. The comprehensive description of each design stage presented in this book offers guidelines for academics, researchers, students, and industrial manufactures from diverse fields, including ocean engineering and mechanical engineering. Abstract:Abstract The development of ship intelligent manufacturing is divided into three stages of digital, networked and intelligent manufacturing. In the digital manufacturing stage, shipbuilding enterprises strengthen the relationship between manufacturing and design to improve the efficiency of manufacturing. In the networked manufacturing stage, shipbuilding enterprises use the internet of things technology to improve the controllability in the production process and effectively enhance the coordination and cooperation between machines and persons. In the intelligent manufacturing stage, shipbuilding enterprises let the new generation of artificial intelligence technology run through the design, management, service and production, greatly improving the flexibility of manufacturing. This paper studies the application model of industrial design system in ship design, the application model of internet of things technology in the production control of shipbuilding enterprises, and the application model of new generation artificial intelligence technology in intelligent decision support, which makes a preliminary exploration for the intelligent development of shipbuilding enterprises.

Abstract:Maximum digitalization is the current trend in industrial development. The digital industrial revolution has been underway for more than a dozen years. Industry 4.0 and the idea of digital twins (DT) are becoming the focus of virtually all industrial sectors. Some sectors are more predisposed to digitalization, while for others, the process is much more difficult. This mainly depends on the specific characteristics and susceptibility of a given industry, including the current degree of digitalization of companies, as well as the knowledge and mental readiness of employees. The individual characteristics of an industry are important. Shipbuilding is a traditional industry where the level of digitalization is still low. As a result, the efficiency of shipbuilding processes and the quality of ships built are not sufficiently controlled. The article addresses this problem, reviews work in the field of digitalization of shipbuilding processes, and identifies the needs and challenges in this area. The article proposes the concept of a DT system for the entire ship design and production process. Key areas of digitalization of the actual processes were defined, and a division was made into planning, monitoring, and process analysis activities. Special attention was paid to the area of dimensional quality control, and the dimensional quality management metasystem (DQMM) was introduced into the comprehensive DT system. The requirements were defined, and the limitations of the proposed solution were identified, taking into account a number of external factors, including the degree of readiness of the manufacturer—the shipyard. The developed DT system concept was tested using the example of the construction process of a simplified ship. Practical aspects of the implementation of the proposed solution, in particular, DQMM, were pointed out.

Abstract:Modern ships are highly complex technological systems and have a long and resource-intensive development cycle. Moreover, the final design must comply with many specific technical and regulatory requirements while constraining the capital and operational expenditures. Decisions made during the early stages of design have a large impact on ship functionality and determine the overall configuration of the ship; the advanced computational resources available today can be used to change the traditional approach to ship design, significantly improving the data available for these early-stage decisions. Moreover, the new methodologies can improve the ability to assess the impact of innovative technologies such as those inherent in the complete electrification of ships, and can simultaneously allow visualization of a three-dimensional (3D) virtual prototype of the designs. In this article, a methodological approach is presented that exemplifies these advantages.

Abstract:The accuracy of container slot dimensions directly affects the efficiency and safety of container loading and unloading. However, traditional methods of container loading tests need to be improved for their long cycles, high costs, and low production efficiency. With the application of three-dimensional laser scanning devices in ship manufacturing, the use of simulated container loading test methods based on point cloud becomes a breakthrough in key technology for container ship construction. This paper presents a multi-objective segmentation method of cargo hold feature point cloud for container ship simulated loading tests. Data preprocessing algorithms are applied to remove noise and pseudo-image, and then a Random Sample Consensus algorithm is used to remove bulkhead and cargo bottom point clouds. Based on the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise algorithm and the region growing algorithm, an algorithm for multiple segmentation of guide rail and bottom cone point clouds is devised, and a four-plane segmentation of guide rail point clouds is realized. Finally, a method for three-dimensional point cloud data flatness assessment and a Hausdorff distance based method for calculating the guide rail lateral and longitudinal spacing are proposed. These methods are validated through the loading test of a 16,000 TEU container ship.

Abstract:In order to generate ship structure models rapidly in CATIA and provide product models for ship fictitious building simulation,this paper does some research on ship structure auto-modeling technology based on CAA,which is a powerful secondary development tool of CATIA.The basis of software development using CAA C++ API and the structure of a ship are introduced,then the processes of building models of block,panel and part are described,finally a program which could automatically generate ship structure models is developed.A sample is used to prove its effectiveness.

Abstract:Ship superstructures, as typical examples of non-standard design elements, require diverse structural geometric designs and frequent adaptations to meet evolving demands and simulation requirements during the detail design process. However, the utilization of current ship computer-aided design (CAD) systems for detail design presents several limitations, and traditional parametric methods often fall short in complex geometric parameterization. This paper proposed intelligent templates via knowledge-based engineering (KBE) to enhance CAD models' robustness and applicability. The study focused on three specific geometric problems that restrict the validity of parameterization: varying types of input conditions, multiple solutions in offsets and arc fillets, and non-topological transformations. Three representative structural component templates were developed on CATIA V6, showcasing effectiveness compared to traditional methods through a ship design task. Furthermore, this approach provides the basis for the implementation of modular design, design automation, and integrated design simulation.
