Abstract:Objective To investigate if ischemia-reperfusion(I/R) injury is the correlated injury factor to unknown deprivation of spinal cord function after decompression in chronic spinal cord compression. Methods All the 96 New Zealand white rabbits were randomized as follows:Group A(negative control group),Group B(I/R group),Group C(decompression group).MDA、SOD、CAT、GDH-Px were detected on 4 rabbits in each group at 0 h,0.5 h,6 h,12 h,24 h,48 h.Apoptosis cell numbers were analysis on 4 rabbits in each group at 0 h and 48 h.Results MDA,CAT,SOD,GSH-Px levels in Group B were much higher than those in Group A at 0.5 h,6 h,12 h,24 h,and the levels in Group C were much higher than those in Group A at each time point, and there were no differences among each time point in Group C.TUNEL stain showed the apoptosis cell number had no significant difference between 0 h and 48 h in Group C.Conclusion There is no significant I/R injury evidence locally after decompression in chronic spinal cord compression, and I/R injury is not the cause of deprivation of spinal cord function after spinal cord decompression.
