Abstract:Shared entanglement allows, under certain conditions, the remote implementation of quantum operations. We revise and extend recent theoretical results on the remote control of quantum systems as well as experimental results on the remote manipulation of photonic qubits via linear optical elements.

Abstract:The existing notion of the shared entangled state-assisted remote preparation of unitary operator (equivalently the existing notion of quantum remote control) using local operation and classical communication is generalized to a scenario where under the control of a supervisor two users can jointly implement arbitrary unitaries (one unknown unitary operation by each or equivalently a single unitary decomposed into two unitaries of the same dimension and given to two users) on an unknown quantum state available with a geographically separated user. It is explicitly shown that the task can be performed using a four-qubit hyperentangled state, which is entangled simultaneously in both spatial and polarization degrees of freedom of photons. The proposed protocol which can be viewed as primitive for distributed photonic quantum computing is further generalized to the case that drops the restrictions on the number of controllers and the number of parties performing unitaries and allows both the numbers to be arbitrary. It is also shown that all the existing variants of quantum remote control schemes can be obtained as special cases of the present scheme.

Abstract:We investigate the scheme for controlling information characterized by Von-Neumann entropy and the stationary state entanglement characterized by concurrence of two solid state qubits in the collective dephasing channel. It is shown that the local maximal value of the stationary state concurrence always corresponds to the local minimal value of information. We also propose a scheme for remotely controlling the entanglement of two solid state qubits against the collective dephasing. This idea may open a door to remotely suppress the detrimental effects of decoherence.
Remote Implementation of Hidden or Partially Unknown Quantum Operators using Optimal Resources: A Generalized View

Abstract:Two protocols are proposed for two closely linked but different variants of remote implementation of quantum operators of specific forms. The first protocol is designed for the remote implementation of the single qubit hidden quantum operator, whereas the second one is designed for the remote implementation of the partially unknown single qubit quantum operator. In both cases two-qubit maximally entangled state, which is entangled in the spatial degree of freedom is used. The quantum resources used here are optimal and easy to realize and maintain in comparison to the multi-partite or multi-mode entangled states used in earlier works. The impact of photon loss due to interaction with the environment is analyzed for both the schemes. The proposed protocols are also generalized to their controlled, bidirectional, cyclic, controlled cyclic, and controlled bidirectional versions and it is shown that either Bell state alone or products of Bell states will be sufficient to perform these tasks with some additional classical communications in the controlled cases only. This is in sharp contrast to the earlier proposals that require large entangled states. In addition, it's noted that remote implementation of hidden or partially unknown operators involving multiple controllers and/or multiple players who jointly apply the desired operator(s) would require quantum channels more complex than the Bell states and their products. Explicit forms of such quantum channels are also provided.

Abstract:We present two protocols for the controlled remote implementation of quantum operations between three-party high-dimensional systems. Firstly, the controlled teleportation of an arbitrary unitary operation by bidirectional quantum state teleportaion （BQST） with high-dimensional systems is considered. Then, instead of using the BQST method, a protocol for controlled remote implementation of partially unknown operations belonging to some restricted sets in high-dimensional systems is proposed. It is shown that, in these protocols, if and only if the controller would like to help the sender with the remote operations, the controlled remote implementation of quantum operations for high-dimensional systems can be completed.

Abstract:Quantum remote rotation allows us to implement local quantum operation on remote systems with shared entanglement. Here we report an experimental demonstration of remote rotation on single photons using linear optical elements. The local dephase is also teleported during the process. The scheme can be generalized to any controlled rotation commuting with sigma(z).

Abstract:By blending the ideas of controlled teleportation, bidirectional teleportation and remote implementation of quantum operations, we investigate the bidirectional transmission of quantum operations under the control of one supervisor. Firstly, we provide a method for generating a class of multi-particle entangled states, including five-particle and seven-particle entangled states, using a nine-particle entangled state as an example. Then using our constructed five-particle entangled state as a quantum channel, we propose a new controlled bidirectional protocol for remotely implementing partially known quantum operations (PUQOs for short) of one qubit within the two restricted sets satisfying specific conditions. Subsequently, exploiting a nine-particle entangled state as the quantum channel, we extend it to the case of two-qubit quantum operations which come from eight restricted sets. Replacing two PUQO of two qubits by a PUQO of one qubit and a PUQO of two qubits, we put forward another new asymmetric controlled bidirectional protocol for remotely implementing PKQOs via a seven-particle entangled state as the quantum channel. In these protocols, by using universal recovered operations performed by the receivers, the senders can simultaneously exchange their PUQOs as long as the controller collaborates, where each PUQO acts on the corresponding unknown state owned by the remote recipient.

Abstract:Remote state preparation enables one to create and manipulate a quantum state based on the shared entanglement between distant nodes. Here, we experimentally demonstrate remote preparation and manipulation of squeezed light. By performing homodyne projective measurement on one mode of the continuous variable entangled state at Alice's station, a squeezed state is created at Bob's station. Moreover, rotation and displacement operations are applied on the prepared squeezed state by changing the projective parameters on Alice's state. We also show that the remotely prepared squeezed state is robust against loss and N-1 squeezed states can be remotely prepared based on a N-mode continuous variable Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-like state. Our results verify the entanglement-based model used in security analysis of quantum key distribution with continuous variables and have potential application in remote quantum information processing.

Abstract:It is well known that transmitting quantum states remotely is one of central tasks in quantum information processing. Until now, there are some important works in remote state preparation, the efficient method to transmit quantum states remotely. However, most of them are focused on remote state preparation via one degree of freedom (DOF) of quantum systems. In this article, we investigate the possibility of performing parallel quantum remote state preparation based on two DOFs of photons. We proposed a protocol for parallel remote preparation of arbitrary single-qubit states via hyperentangled photons which are entangled in both spatial-mode DOF and polarization DOF simultaneously. The sender performs unitary operations on his hyperentangled photon according to his knowledge of prepared states; the receiver can reconstruct the original states on his hyperentangled photon if he cooperates with the sender. The scheme has the advantage of having less quantum entanglement cost and classical communication. Moreover, we also discuss the scheme for recursive remote preparation of arbitrary single-qubit states via partially hyperentangled Bell states.

Abstract:Quantitative control of spatial indistinguishability of identical subsystems as a direct quantum resource at distant sites has not yet been experimentally proven. We design a setup capable of tuning remote spatial indistinguishability of two independent photons by individually adjusting their spatial distribution in two distant regions, leading to polarization entanglement from uncorrelated photons. This is achieved by spatially localized operations and classical communication on photons that meet only at the detectors. The amount of entanglement depends uniquely on the degree of spatial indistinguishability, quantified by an entropic measure I, which enables teleportation with fidelities above the classical threshold. The results open the way to viable indistinguishability-enhanced quantum information processing.

Abstract:We propose a protocol of remote implementations of quantum operations by hybridizing bidirectional quantum state teleportation's (BQST) and Wang's one. The protocol is available for remote implemetations of quantum operations in the restricted sets specified in Sec. III. We also give the proof of the protocol and point out its optimization. As an extension, this hybrid protocol can be reduced to BQST and Wang protocols.

Abstract:Remote state preparation and remote operation are entanglement assisted protocols in quantum information process, here we present a practical and general scheme of remote preparation for pure and mixed state, in which an auxiliary qubit and controlled-NOT gate are used. We give an experimental scheme of the quantum remote operation on single photons, where the unitary operation is restricted to the sets U-com or U-anti. We discuss the remote state preparation (RSP) in two important types of decoherent channel (depolarizing and dephaseing). In our experiment, we realize RSP in the dephaseing channel by using spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC), linear optical elements and single photon detector.

Abstract:Quantum entanglement is essential for the realization of distributed computing and has been implemented in various types of two-level systems. However, high-dimensional quantum protocols are rarely investigated both theoretically and experimentally, despite the remarkable advantages that high-dimensional quantum systems exhibit over two-level systems for certain quantum information and computing tasks. Here, we propose asymmetric protocols that utilize different dimensional systems to prepare the stator and achieve remote state operations with the assistance of shared N -partite graph states. Our protocols demonstrate convincing control power and security, with all implementations achievable through local operations and classical communications. The experimental realization of high-dimensional quantum systems and operations is presented using current technology. Our work contributes towards achieving arbitrary high-dimensional quantum protocols and paves the way for implementing high-dimensional quantum communication and computation.

Abstract:Controlled remote implementation of operation (CRIO) enables to implement operations on a remote state with strong security. We transmit implementations by entangling qubits in photon-cavity-atom system. The photons transferring in fibre and the atoms embedded in optical cavity construct CZ gates. The gates transfer implementations between participants with the permission of controller. We also construct nonadiabatic holonomic controlled gate between alkali metal atoms. Decoherence and dissipation decrease the fidelity of the implementation operators. We apply anti-blockade effect and dynamical scheme to improve the robustness of the gate.

Abstract:Generating entanglement between distant quantum systems is at the core of quantum networking. In recent years, numerous theoretical protocols for remote entanglement generation have been proposed, of which many have been experimentally realized. Here, we provide a modular theoretical framework to elucidate the general mechanisms of photon-mediated entanglement generation between single spins in atomic or solid-state systems. Our framework categorizes existing protocols at various levels of abstraction and allows for combining the elements of different schemes in new ways. These abstraction layers make it possible to readily compare protocols for different quantum hardware. To enable the practical evaluation of protocols tailored to specific experimental parameters, we have devised numerical simulations based on the framework with our codes available online.

Abstract:Controlled-NOT operation is an important unit of quantum computation. We propose an experimentally feasible scheme of remote controlled-NOT operation using entanglement between two atomic ensembles. The scheme involves laser manipulation of atomic ensembles, adjustable quarter- and half-wave plates, beam splitters, polarizing beam splitters and single-photon detectors, and well fits the status of the current experimental technology.

Abstract:In a process of remote state preparation, the universality of quantum channel is an essential ingredient. That is, one quantum channel should be feasible to remotely prepare any given qubit state. This problem appears in a process where one uses non-maximally entangled state as the passage. We present a scheme in which any given qubit | = cos θ|0+sin θei|1 could be remotely prepared by using minimum classical bits and the previously shared non-maximally entangled state with a high fidelity, under the condition that the receiver holds the knowledge of θ. This condition is helpful to reduce the necessary amount of quantum channels, which is proven to be a low quantity to realize the universality. We also give several methods to investigate the trade-off between this amount and the achievable fidelity of the protocol.

Abstract:Preparing quantum state remotely is one of the central tasks in long-distance quantum communication. Here we present a protocol to parallel remote preparation of the arbitrary single-qubit states in three DoFs by rotating quantum states in each DoF of the photon via linear-optical elements. The arbitrary single-qubit states can be remote prepared in frequency, time-bin and polarization DoFs by manipulating the quantum states in each DoF. Moreover, we discuss the protocol for parallel remote preparation in frequency, time-bin and polarization DoFs by using partially hyperentangled state as the quantum channel. Our protocols have the advantages of having higher channel capacity than previous RSP protocols since each photon can carry 3 qubits of quantum information via a fiber channel, not just 1 or 2 qubits. Since partially hyperentangled channel can be transformed to the target channel for parallel remote state preparation recursively via optical elements, the efficiency for hyperentangled channel is greatly enhanced.

Abstract:We present a protocol for the hierarchical controlled joint remote implementation of the partially unknown operations of m qudits belonging to some restricted sets by using m multiparticle high-dimensional entangled states as the quantum channel. All the senders share the information of the partially unknown operations and cooperate with each other to implement the partially unknown operations on the remote receiver's quantum system. The receivers are hierarchized in accordance with their abilities to reconstruct the desired state. The agents in the upper grade need only cooperate with one of the lower-grade agents, and the agents in the lower grade need the cooperation of all the other agents. The protocol has the advantage of having high channel capacity by using a high-dimensional entangle state as the quantum channel for the hierarchial controlled joint remote implementation of partially unknown quantum operations of m qudits.

Abstract:Quantum networking relies on entanglement distribution between distant nodes, typically realized by swapping procedures. However, entanglement swapping is a demanding task in practice, mainly because of limited effectiveness of entangled photon sources and Bell-state measurements necessary to realize the process. Here we experimentally activate a remote distribution of two-photon polarization entanglement superseding the need for initial entangled pairs and traditional Bell-state measurements. This alternative procedure is accomplished thanks to the controlled spatial indistinguishability of four independent photons in three separated nodes of the network, which enables us to perform localized product-state measurements in the central node acting as a trigger. This experiment proves that the inherent indistinguishability of identical particles supply promising standards for feasible quantum communication in multinode photonic quantum networks.
