Abstract:A new zincophosphate [C6N4H22][ZnPO4]4 1 has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallized in the triclinic space group P1 with a=9.784(2) Å, b=10.074(2) Å, c=8.0573(16) Å, α=121.62(3)°, β=119.20(3)°, γ=98.37(3)°, V=496.96(17) Å3, Z=1. Refinement gave R1=0.0651, wR2=0.1476 for observed data. The zinc and phosphorous atoms are tetrahedrally coordinated by oxygen atoms with a Zn to P ratio of 1. The structure of 1 is constructed by strictly alternating linking of ZnO4 and PO4 with four-membered rings as the secondary building units. The four-membered rings are further connected in three styles: sharing zinc atoms to form a chain structure, connected using vertices to form an undulating chain, and a 4–1 connection. These connections give a complex three-dimensional eight-membered ring channel system.

Abstract:A novel inorganic–organic hybrid open-framework zinc phosphate, (NH4)[Zn5(PO4)3(HPO4)2(HAPIM)2]·(H2O) (1), was solvothermally synthesized in the presence of 1-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole (APIM) as structure-directing agent. Its structure is built up by the alternate linkages between ZnO4, ZnO3N, PO4 and HPO4 tetrahedral moieties, forming an unusual three-dimensional framework with intersecting 8-, 10-, and 16-ring channels. The arrangement of the monoprotonated APIM molecules in 1 is unique and they play dual roles as both ligands and countercations. It is the first example with APIM as template in extra-large-channel structures in zincophosphates. The framework contains a Zn/P ratio of 1:1 and exhibits remarkable low framework density. Photoluminescence studies show that there is a ligand-to-metal charge transfer.

Abstract:Two new three-dimensional open-framework zinc phosphites, [HCHA](2)[Zn-3(HPO3)(4)] (1) and [HCHPA](2)[Zn-3(HPO3)(4)] (2), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions, where CHA = cyclohexylamine and CHPA = cycloheptylamine. Both compounds are isostructural and exhibit a similar three-dimensional 3, 4-connected framework constructed by strictly alternating ZnO4 tetrahedra and HPO32- pseudopyramids. The occurrence of extra-large tubular channels constructed by the concatenation of 24- and 30-ring windows along the [001] direction in the two structures is very unusual in known extra-large micropore materials. Abstract:A new three-dimensional open framework zinc nitrite {[Zn(NO2)3]-·H3O+·H2O}n(Zn1) was synthesized by solvothermal method.The products was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction(XRD),IR spectra,Raman spectra,TG analysis and structurally determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.The results indicated that the compound crystallizes in the trigonal symmetry,space group R-3c,with a=b=c=0.8814(6) nm,α=β=γ=55.51(2)°,V=2.0394(2) nm3,Z=12,R1=0.0325,wR2=0.0829,GOF=1.077.The adjacent Zn centers are linked with O from NO2-to form 3-D structure of Zn1 containing 8-rings along and direction,respectively.

Abstract:Two new organically templated zinc phosphites, [H2dmpip][Zn3(HPO3)4] (1) and [HMedmpip][Zn3(HPO3)4] (2), where dmpip=2,6-dimethyl-piperazine and Medmpip=N-methyl-2,6-dimethyl-piperazinium, have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Note that the new Medmpip2+ template in 2 is generated from in situ N-methylation reaction between CH3OH and the dmpip amine precursor, which is used to serve as template in 1. Such direct N-methylation transformation is unique, and quite different from conventional Eschweiler–Clarke methylation in which an excess of formic acid and formaldehyde was required. Both compounds are constructed from strictly alternating ZnO4 and HPO3 units, and possess different (3,4)-connected interrupted frameworks with intersecting 8-, 10- and 12-ring channels (for 1), and 8-, 12-ring channels (for 2), respectively. The occurrence of helical channels in the open structure of 1, and fascinating hydrogen-bonded helices between the host inorganic chains and guest organic templates are also noteworthy.

Abstract:A series of syntheses in the HF–ZrO2–P2O5–pyridine–H2O system have been performed in an attempt to synthesize novel materials with open zirconium phosphate framework structures. One of the resulting products, designated ZrPOF–pyr (∣(C5H6N)4(H2O)2∣[Zr12P16O60(OH)4F8]), has been characterized by XRD, SEM and TG-DTA, and its crystal structure determined from powder diffraction data using direct methods (Pnnm, a=19.1595(2)Å, b=15.1428(1)Å, c=6.61804(6)Å). The framework structure, consisting of corner sharing ZrO6, ZrO5F, ZrO4F2 octahedra and PO4 and PO3OH tetrahedra, proved to be identical to that of ∣(C5H16N2)2(H2O)6∣[Zr12P16O60(OH)4F8], which had been reported previously. In both structures, the terminal P–OH group is disordered. The non-framework species (pyridinium ion and water molecule) could be located in the channels of the framework. Structure solution was also performed using a charge-flipping algorithm, which makes no symmetry assumptions, to verify that the P–OH disorder is inherent to the material and not a result of an incorrectly assumed space group. The phase is thermally stable to 450°C, but transforms to another phase at higher temperatures.

Abstract:Introducing cobalt into a Zn-P-O-amine system and using oxalates as starting materials, an amine containing open-framework cobalt zincophosphate, [C4N2H12][Co0.14Zn1.86(PO4)(H1.5PO4)(2)] (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally determined. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c (No. 15) with cell parameters a = 13.374(3) Angstrom, b = 12.827(3) Angstrom, c = 8.1940(16) Angstrom, beta = 94.77(3)degrees, V = 1400.9(5) Angstrom(3), Z = 4, D-cal = 2.399 g cm(-3). The linkages of ZnO4 and PO4 give rise to four-membered rings, which serve as the secondary building unit for compound 1. The four-membered rings (four-MR) share their corners leading to chains. Connection of these chains results in a complex three-dimensional channel system. Eight-MR, twelve-MR and highly distorted twelve-MR channels can be observed along the [010], [110] and [101] directions, respectively. The prominent feature of compound 1 is the clover-like 16-MR channel along the [001] direction. The channel spaces are occupied by the diprotonated piperazine molecules with H-bonds to the framework.

Abstract:Three new organically templated zinc phosphates, namely, [dmdabco][Zn2(HPO4)3]·(H2O) (1), [tmpip]0.5[Zn2(HPO4)2(H2PO4)] (2) and [tmpip][Zn3(HPO4)4] (3) (dmdabco=N,N′-dimethyl-1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octane, tmpip=N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-piperazinium), were successfully synthesized under solvothermal reactions and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The dmdabco2+ and tmpip2+ templating agents were derived respectively from simple in situ N-alkylation transformations between the methanol solvent and organic cyclic aliphatic diamines, 1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octane (dabco) in 1 and 1-methylpiperazine in 2 and 3. Such direct methylation feature is unique, and quite different from conventional Eschweiler–Clarke methylation in which an excess of formic acid and formaldehyde was required. Compound 1 exhibits a 4-connected 2D (4, 4) net with pentameric [Zn2(HPO4)3] clusters as secondary building units (SBUs); 2 possesses a complex double layered structure with 12-ring windows. Compound 3 has a (3, 4)-connected 3D pcu architecture with heptameric [Zn3(HPO4)4] clusters as SBUs, forming intersecting 8- and 12-ring channels.

Abstract:Trying to transgraft the idea of adjusting polyoxometallates' micro-structures by rationally designing structure building units composed of ligand and "secondary metal" to the synthesis of open-framework zinc phosphate results in a novel 1-D hybrid zinc phosphate, (2,2'-bipy)(2)Zn-2(PO4H) . (PO4H2)(2) (FJ-10: Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter). X-ray single crystal analysis reveals, FJ-10 belongs to a triclinic crystal system,, space group P-1, a=1.038 18(6) nm, b=1.230 41(7) c=1.234 81(7) nm, alpha=97. 207 0(10)degrees, beta=109.411 0(10)degrees, gamma=113.081 0(10)degrees, V=1.307 79(3) nm(3), R-1=0.039 9, omegaR(2)=0.101 3[I>2sigma(I)]. The topology structure of FJ-10's framework is characterized by PO3(OH) bridged 4-rings. FJ-10 exemplifies firstly the pi-pi stacking of hybrid chains whose structure-building units are involved in ZnO3N2. FJ-10 predicts the novel hybrid transition phosphates.

Abstract:Three porous supramolecular isomers (IZE-1, IZE-2, and IZE-3) with the same framework component [Zn(2)(EBTC)(H(2)O)(2)] (EBTC = 1,1'-ethynebenzene-3,3',5,5'-tetracarboxylate) were successfully constructed by finely tuning the reaction condition. Although both IZE-1 and IZE-2 are constructed from the linear EBTC subunits and one kind of regular [Zn(2)(CO(2))(4)] paddlewheels, their frameworks exhibit two different (3,4)-c net of fof (sqc1575) and sqc1572, respectively, resulting in cavities with different size and shape. However, as for isomer IZE-3, the EBTC ligands are bent and one-half of the [Zn(2)(CO(2))(4)] paddlewheels are distorted, leading to a novel (3,4,4)-c hyx net with point symbol (6.7(2))(4)(6(2).8(2).10(2))(7(2).8(2).11(2)) and vertex symbol (6.7.7)(4)(7(2).7(2).8.8.12.12)(6.6.8.8.10(2).10(2)). Quantum chemical calculations by DFT indicate that the three isomers have very close thermodynamic stabilities, which may explain that subtle condition change leads to variation of the frameworks. Further theoretical semiempirical investigation on the interactions between solvent molecules and compounds shows different hydrogen binding patterns in good agreement with the experimental observations. Furthermore, they exhibit good solid-state luminescence properties with long lifetime.

Abstract:Introducing cobalt into the Zn–P–O-amine system and using oxalates as starting materials, an amine-containing open-framework zinc cobalt phosphate, [C2N2H10][Co4.2Zn1.8 (PO4)4(HPO4)]·H2O (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized. It crystallizes in monoclinic space group C2/c (No. 15) with cell parameters a=19.214(8) Å, b=5.0152(17) Å, c=21.175(8) Å, β=103.06(3)°, V=1987.7(13) Å3, Z=4, Dcal=3.078 g cm−3. The structure contains two sets of M–O–M linkage: M–O–M dimer and unusual infinite helical –M–O–M– chain. Connecting the dimers by phosphates leads to three-membered ring chains. The linking of the helical chains by PO4 groups results in a sheet structure. Using the three-membered ring chains as pillars, stacking of the sheets gives rise to a three-dimensional tunnel structure.

Abstract:By using flexible 1,2-bis(2-aminoethoxy)ethane (BAEOE) as a pillaring ligand, a new inorganic–organic hybrid open-framework zinc phosphite, [C6N2O2H16][Zn(HPO3)]2 (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by IR, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, powder and single-crystal X-ray diffractions. The structure of 1 consists of neutral layers of zinc phosphite which are further pillared through linear BAEOE ligands, generating a 3D framework with unusual (3, 4)-connected dmc topology. The participation of left-handed and right-handed helical chains in the construction of puckered sheet structure with 4.82-net is also noteworthy.

Abstract:Two zinc phosphonocarboxylate frameworks, Zn(1.5)(pbc)(2,2'-bpy) (1) (2,2'-bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) and Zn(pbc)(NH(2)(CH(3))(2))(0.5)center dot 0.5H(3)O (2), were synthesized in a mixed-solvothermal condition. Their structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, IR spectra and thermogravimetric analysis. Compound 1 is a three-dimensional zinc phosphonocarboxylate with auxiliary ligand of 2,2'-bpy. 2 was obtained by reheating the filtrate of 1 and shows a nanoporous open-framework with zeolitic GIS topology. At room temperature, 2 can absorb organic amine and solvents in its channels, causing a breathing effect and shrinkage of the pores, resulting in single-crystal-tosingle- crystal transformation to structure 2a, Zn(pbc)(NH(2)(CH(3))(2))center dot 0.5DMF center dot 2H(2)O. The porosity of 2 was demonstrated by the methanol and water adsorption experiments, indicating selective guest uptake.

Abstract:By using 1,3-cyclohexane-bis(methylamine) (CHBMA) as the template, a novel zinc phosphatophosphite (TJPU-3) with extra-large 20-ring channels was synthesized. Cobalt doping produced a bimetallic phosphite (TJPU-6) with 12-ring apertures. While the templates sit in the cis configuration in TJPU-3, they are in the trans configuration in TJPU-6. This result has the potential for separation and recognition of CHBMA isomers.
