Abstract:Polyolefin thermoplastic elastomers (TPE-Os) are high-performance polyolefins consisting of both plastic and rubber phases. Compared with other thermoplastic elastomers, the TPE-Os possess better chemical stability, transparency, re-processability, and electrical insulation, which renders their broad applications possible. By manipulating chain structures and topologies of the TPE-Os, differently structured polyolefins with improved thermal and mechanical properties have been developed, including ethylene and alpha-olefin random copolymers (POEs), olefin block copolymers (OBCs), comb-shaped polyolefin elastomers (CPOEs), and dynamically cross-linked polyolefin elastomers. Herein, we review the synthesis of the POE, OBC, CPOE, and dynamical cross-linked polyolefin elastomer, including the catalyst systems, polymerization techniques, processes, and kinetic modelling. The characterization of the TPE-Os and the relationships between the TPE-O chain structure, aggregated state, and product performance are discussed. The future development of higher-performance TPE-Os is envisaged.

Abstract:This paper reviewed the status quo of the recent researches on ethylene terpolymerization mechanism in the fields of high performance polyethylene (PE) and ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) thermoplastic elastomer synthesized with terpolymerization technology. The studies on high performance PE mainly focused on the comonomer effect and accelerating effect in the polymerization process; the research emphasis of EPDM targeted the development of catalyst and the selection of diene variety. This paper also introduced the commercial application of ethylene terpolymerization technology, summarized the problems existed in the current researches and outlined the future development directions of this field.

Abstract:In this review,state-of-the-art technology of polyolefin-based elastomer manufacture, including major producers and product trademarks,grades and properties were summarized. Research and developments on production process and catalyst system for the ethylene-propylene binary and ternary rubbers(EPM,EPDM,mEPDM),the poly(ethylene-co-α-olefin) elastomer(POE)and the poly(ethylene-block-α-olefin) elastomer(OBC)were also introduced. It has been pointed out that the thermoplastic elastomer,such as POE and OBC,and the polyolefin plastomer not only had excellent mechanical and physical properties of polyolefin-based elastomer,but also was easy molding and processing,and can be recycled and reused. And the metallocene catalyst had the advantages of high activity,good ability to catalyze copolymerization withα-olefin,and single active site. In order to independently develop the polyolefin-based elastomer,the thermoplastic elastomer and plastomer with more excellent performance and more profitable,such as mEPDM,POE and OBC et al,the researches on the metallocene catalyst with high temperature adaptability and the high temperature solution polymerization process must be strengthened.

Abstract:Polyarylsulfone is one kind of the amorphous thermoplastic resins which contain sulfuryl, ether and phenyl groups. It possesses good mechanical properties, biocompatibility, thermostability and flame retardance. Therefore, polyarylsulfone is widely used in environmental protection, chemical industry, vehicle, food industry, health care and other fields. In order to broaden its application, polyarylsulfone based composites reinforced by fibers are developed, which have better overall performance. The research progress of three categories of polyarylsulfone and their composites were introduced in this paper.

Abstract:High-performance polymers have become a strategic material to ensure national security and national economic development owing to their excellent comprehensive properties. They have been widely applied in important fields such as aerospace, electronics, and medical devices. This study reviews the key varieties of high-performance polymers in four categories: highperformance resins and engineering plastics, organic fibers, bio-based resins and degradable materials, and special rubber and elastomers. The current status and characteristics of key high-performance polymers in China and abroad are analyzed. The study revealed that an industrialization system, including chemical raw material synthesis, modification, and product application, has been established in China. Besides, the current development challenges like the insufficient supply of key raw materials and limited development and application of products are discussed. Accordingly, relevant suggestion for technological innovation, key raw material security, and industrial innovation consortia construction are proposed, paving the way for the development of highperformance polymers in China.

Abstract:High-performance polymers have been concomitant with advanced technology for half a century. With the advancement of synthetic chemistry, the recent development of high-performance polymers has provided superior properties and enabled wide applications. This article reviews recent research progress in aromatic high-performance polymers. Particularly, we focus on the synthesis and processing of polyimides, as well as the application in gas separation membranes. We begin with a brief introduction to highlight important history and physiochemical characteristics of polyimides. Then, we review the various synthesis methods, followed by recent advances for improving processability. Finally, we evaluate the use of high-performance polymers in gas separation membranes with focus given to the key issues of plasticization and aging. Overall, the information presented herein provides an up-to-date overview of high-performance polymers, polyimides particularly, and serves as a guide for further research involving the applications in membrane technologies.

Abstract:Engineering ceramics in the system Si-O-C-N-B manufactured from preceramic silicon containing polymers gain in significance with increasing availability of advanced precursor materials such as poly(carbosilane), -(silazane), -(siloxane) or -(borosilazane). While high temperature resistant Si-C and Si-N ceramic fibers are already used to reinforce ceramic matrix composites (CMC) in air- and spacecraft structures, novel products such as coatings, tapes, foams, and complex shaped components for medium and low temperature applications in the fields of energy, environmental, transportation, and communication technologies become more important in the future. The synthesis of preceramic polymer, properties of polymer derived ceramic, methods of manufacturing and effects on polymer pyrolysis were reviewed.

Abstract:Abstract Poly(arylene ether)s (PAEs) engineering plastics are a type of high-performance material which are excellent in thermal resistance, mechanical properties, and have low dielectric constant and anti-corrosion. Over recent decades, PAEs further combined with electrospinning technology to fabricate as large surface-to-volume ratio and porosity membrane materials for high-performance applications. In this review, progresses of PAEs-based electrospun nanofibers and fiber reinforced composites including separate membranes, proton exchange membranes, oil-water separation filters, bio-scaffolds and humidity sensors, etc. are presented together with their corresponding high-performance applications in the fields of battery, wastewater treatment, bioengineering and sensor. Finally, current challenges and future development directions of PAEs-based electrospun nanofibers are discussed.

Abstract:Compared with the traditional thermallyconductive plastics,thermally conductive engineering-plastics have both the excellent thermal conductivity and the excellent mechanical properties.Besides,they also have many other excellent properties,such as weatherability,corrosion resistance and so on,which makes them achieved widely application in many industrial fields including electrical and electronic industry,heating/cooling fields.The categories and composition of thermally conductive engineering-plastics were reviewed,and the type and characteristic of thermal conductive fillers were compared;the corresponding heat-conduction mechanism of both insulated and noninsulatedthermally conductive plastics was also analyzed,the effects of the type,content,shape and compound of thermal conductive filler on the thermal conductivity of filled conductive plastics was discussed.And then the recent research development of thermally conductive engineering-plastics were introduced;Besides,the application of filled conductive plastics on LED lamps,heat-exchange equipment,microelectronics and other areas were introduced,and the market prospect of thermally conductive engineering-plastics was prospected.

Further, polymer materials with varied functional properties can be modified through blends and composites to enhance their performance. The unique functional, thermal, and mechanical characteristics, along with the ease of processing, have created new opportunities for product applications in various sectors, including packaging, agriculture, energy, automobiles, infrastructure, retail, aerospace, defense, and other growing industries. This review primarily focuses on the scientific and technological advances in high-performance materials such as polyolefins and elastomers, as well as their composites. Furthermore, it addresses the environmental concerns arising from plastic mismanagement, emphasizing sustainability aspects, including the circular economy and the development of biodegradable, bio-compostable and bio-based polymers. The review also discusses new directions in polymer science and engineering, such as life cycle management, flexible manufacturing, and the integration of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning to accelerate sustainable development.

Abstract:Polyarylacetylene(PAA) is one kind of novel heat resistant resin which can be used as a matrix resin of heat resistant material.The ablation resistance and reliability of carbon fiber/PAA composite are much better than carbon/phenolic composite.Its heat resistance is more excellent than polyimide.Its structural stability and hygroscopic property are better than epoxy resin.So it has good application prospects in the field of aerospace.The monomers,synthesis method,performances and modification of PAA are presented.The progress in study and application prospect of carbon/PAA composite is also introduced.

Abstract:The recent main research directions of developing high performance foam plastics, which contain modification of traditional foam plastics and development of new-type expandable materials at home and abroad are summarized. The developments of modifying traditional foam plastics by fiber and particle reinforcing, blending, copolymerizing and adopting mircofoaming technology are presented, as well as the developments of developing new-type expandable materials such as PEI, PI, PMI and MAA/AN. It is pointed out that modifying with nanometer partical, glass microballoon and adopting microfoaming technology are main research direction to make traditional foam plastics obtain high performance , and PI, PMI and MAA/AN foam plastics are main research direction to development new-type expanded materials.

Abstract:The progress of research on the preparation of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) coatings is systematically described with emphasis on the three coating preparation methods of thermal spraying, electrophoretic deposition, and melt extrusion coating, and the advantages and disadvantages of these methods and their main applications are reviewed. At the same time, research into the modification of PEEK coatings is also introduced, including modification using inorganic materials and chemical modification. Finally, the application of PEEK coatings is introduced, and its future development directions are prospected.
