Study on the Chemical Resolution of Tetrahydroberberrubine

Abstract:Objective:To obtain(+)-tetrahydroberberrubine and(-)-tetrahydroberberrubine by chemical resolution of(±)-tetrahydroberberrubine.Methods:Tetrahydroberberrubine was synthesized from berberine.Both of the enantiomers were obtained through the classical resolution by using(+)-di-p-toluoyl-L-tartaric acid in 95% ethanol.Results:The optical rotation value of both isomers was as same as that of the literature report.Conclusion:Both of the enantiomers were successfully obtained in enantiomerically pure form through chemical resolution.
