Abstract:Objective To investigate the significance of plasminogen activator inhibitor(PAI)in genesis and development of osteoarthritis(OA).Methods Immunohistochemical analysis technique was used to detect the expression of uPA,tPA and PAI in synovial tissues in 40 OA patients and 10 normal indivediuls.Results Compared with the control group,the ratio of PAI-1,PAI-2 positive staining increased in the OA group.There was a positive correlation between PAI-1 and uPA,PAI-1 and tPA positive staining cell percent in osteoarthritis synovial membrane.Conclusion The PAI may play an important role in the chronic process of degradation of cartilage extracellular matrices of OA.
