Abstract:To adhere to the guidance of socialist ideology is an important cause for our country's success in reform and opening-up to the outside world. Facing some issues emerging in the opening-up and social transition, it is urgent in reality to consolidate and strengthen socialist ideology. Firstly, as a result of paying great attention to criticisms at the idea of "the termination of history," we need to reinforce Marxism's socio-political functions, having a correct recognition of the historical course of socialism and learning to look at problems in a perspective of the general tendency of historical development. Secondly, as a result of firmly grasping the theme of "socialist modernization," we need to have a profound understanding of its implications, setting up a realistic and right coordinate of socialist ideology in our country and properly dealing with varied popular trends of thought in the world. Thirdly, we need to serve well the aim of building a harmonious socialist society, which is not only a challenge but an opportunity. Consequently, we should give prominence to the three important ideas, namely, "harmony," "human-centered," and "equality," thus enhancing socialist ideology's dominance, direct aiming, and inclusiveness.
